This comment is super old but ill say my pov: he could have still promoted this movie but admitted that the main character is NOT a good guy...and address a lot of his problems. Promote it as if the guy is the antagonist. i dont understand why he felt the need to promote the movie as if the main character is a great guy or a great role-model for our society...THATs the problem.
Respects to BR, that he chose to conduct this in a dignified manner. BR could've made this interview into a viral one, by easily provoking VD in that mental state. But he didn't.
Being a feminist from the bottom of my heart , I watched Arjun Reddy eagerly expecting to see some misogyny. But honestly I was quite taken aback because the problem isn't misogyny at all, but of ego and anger issues. If you observe closely you'll see his anger makes him ill treat and disrespect his friends, family and ofcourse Priti. There's nothing exclusively misogynistic or male chauvinistic in it. Also the 'fat chick' dialogue is more of fat shaming than disrespecting women! Basically to all my feminist friends out there, yes we need to strongly oppose misogyny but don't try so hard that you start seeing it in places where it isn't really the case!
For that Sandeep answered it. Check utube also if u think it's fat Shamin, then search *Fat Jesus hangover* it's a movie snowflakes.. search watch and let me know later..
Yes you have explained better than Vijay D should have. He should have replied any criticism of "sexism" with: "Well..Arjun Reddy is an asshole to everybody...to women, to men, to himself." That would have ended all criticism.
I don't think he actually understands the criticism that is coming his (or the film's) way. There is a difference between saying 1."these 2 people are abusive to each other BUT they also love each other" and 2."these 2 people are abusive to each other BECAUSE they love each other". In the first statement you are drawing a distinction between love and abuse while still recognizing that they can both exist in a relationship (although we can argue about what kind of love you have if you don't have respect but that's another story). In the second statement you are making love conditional on abuse (or the right to abuse). You are saying if I love you then I also have the right to abuse you (or that abuse isn't really abuse if I love you). Arjun Reddy the film and the director of the film don't seem to understand this distinction. I think that's the main issue here. I don't think most people who are criticizing this film want every relationship in the world to be exactly the same. Also, just because a lot of women love something doesn't make that thing OK. We all grow up in a society that normalizes abuse, especially abuse from men to women. So everyone internalizes this including women. Those who are more aware of the issue and how it affects society are a little more critical when they this playing out either in real life or on screen. It seems like Vijay needs to become more aware of social issues and how they affect people outside his own life. But I understand that's really difficult to do especially when the criticism is so personal. I think given some time he'll be able to step back and view the film and the issues surrounding it a little more objectively and decipher the valid criticism from the noise. Sorry for the essay lol
2 is a subset of 1. They don't have a distinction 😅. It is wrong if they say 'if you are in love you must be abusive' (which the director kind of implied in the interview). The point is VD didn't get it. His point of view is you could expect them to be abusive if they are in love.

Dear Vijay Deverakonda, I don't think you can justify the behaviour, mentality and nature of the protagonist of the movie when even the writer/director couldn't. Let it just end it with Kabir Singh & Arjun Reddy being a very entertaining movie. It's alright! People understand it takes all type of people to make the world. It diminishes your appeal when you try to defend the indefensible
Yes we all know Vijay D as a person would never go around and disrespect women in real life. So he should have just laughed off at the critics and ended at that.
I think the best thing I took from the movie Arjun Reddy is the climax, when arjun says to preethi "even if the child is not ours tell her that I am her father." I wont be hitting a women I love even if it is shown in a 100 movies. It is upto the people to choose their takeaways from the movies. Movies influence people. But it is upto the people to get influenced right. I may be a sort of guy who could love a girl to an extent of harming myself. But that doesn't make me say that Arjun Reddy inspired me to be one. At the most I will be feeling like, " there is some guy who likes to love a girl to such an extent, I thought I would". That is it. People should be mature enough to segregate milk and poison. View Arjun Reddy as a film of 2 flawed characters, who love each other despite their flaws. That is it. There are films in which a women is portrayed as an item dancer or stuffs like that . Those are the movies which should be debated.
Yeah.. I haven’t seen anyone speak of this scene/dialogue, where he simply says “tell that I am the father”. That’s the real Arjun Reddy. But everyone wants to just talk about his flaws.
Bingo!! I was about to reply the same. Today, girls are being attacked, disrespected and judged. But , Arjun Reddy - just loved her and did not mind about the child. He also says ,” it’s just blood and flesh “ wow ! He is a true man... also, Arjun, stands for his values. We also have a scene where Arjun was banned from the medical practice due to his alcoholism. His father / brother were with him and just a bunch of lies would let him continue his practice. He denies and stood up for what he believed. That’s what Arjun Reddy for me. Parvathy or whoever it is- it depends on the way you see and the way we grow! I as a girl , love Arjun Reddy and the values he stood up for !
@@NagasriR exactly mam. He is a guy who stood for his values. There is also a scene in which he will see the groom of his friend's sister. But he is way better a human being than he is conceived to be.

Obviously VJD not degrading her was a good thing, but my point is that stuff like this shouldn't be something to point out, but should be automatically instilled in men's or in general, people's minds. This was what I tweeted some days back. To understand misogyny for anyone who has had the "normal" upbringing in India is very difficult, as in our country, patriarchy is internalised. To be honest, I was also one among them. I was a rebel questioning the discrimination, but never got an opportunity to comprehend the roots of it.

Just as Vijay is saying that people are'nt getting his point of view, he doesn't get what the furore is all about! Normalizing/glorifying misogyny on screen is very different from simply showing misogyny on screen. He just doesn't get it. Also, clearly, he seems to have prepped for the interview and was clearly taken aback when BR asked about the 'fat chick' comment. The point is not just that he called a female 'fat', it is the context in which he said it and the way he did. There was no scene in the movie which indicated that he was a nutcase, everyone just accepted it. The portrayal was as though it is completely normal to be the way that he was.
If he feels that way that he is taken completely wrong by most opinion makers he is right to have it this way. There is some definite takeaway from this conversation for everyone.Or else it'll be confirming to every politically correct opinion without having room to scrutinize it.At least there is conversation,so one should appreciate both side for coming in.hinestly
@@rameshlovemaryarivalanpott8290 It wasn't the movie as a whole as it was some of the scenes and how the movie treated its protagonist. If the movie had at any point recognized that what Arjun Reddy was doing was wrong, then so many people wouldn't have had a problem with it. The scene where he held a girl at knife point forcing her to have sex with him is basically rape, and it is being glorified. There's no regret about what he does, and the movie accompanies some scenes like this with heroic background music. You might argue that scenes like this won't actually influence people, but sorry, there are very impressionable youth in India. VJD shouldn't see this as a personal insult or targetting of him, he should see this as people calling out the portrayal of his character and how he and Vanga are defending him. He should take social responsibility and just come out and say that Arjun Reddy is a flawed character and that he wouldn't want people to be influenced by him instead of being blind to the fact that people do get influenced by him.
@@sanjitharajesh8436 OK you're making three arguments here and I'll address them one by one. 1) The way in which the film treated the women: Ok I've heard this one often. But why is the focus only on women. A person doesn't become misogynistic just because he hits women. However he is misogynistic is he hits ONLY women. But it's relevant throughout the film that he hits both men and women. He is not an asshole just to women he is an asshole to his friends his father his dean his professor all of whom are male. So how can you say that he is misogynistic. He is an asshole to both men AND women. 2)Glorification of Toxic Masculinity : You can argue that the film glorified toxic masculinity. But that is only true if you consider candor a masculine trait. By saying that aren't YOU implying that women can't exhibit candor and being a sexist YOURSELF? 3)The accessibility argument: You are acting like VJD didnt accept that AR is a flawed character. This is a brazen lie. There is an entire video in which he discusses about this and guess what the video is named? "VJD says that AR is a flawed character" On a side note why does every actor have to be socially responsible with their craft? Art should not be suppressed. That is the first step towards fascism. And the knife point rape scene that you mentioned. You do realize that he feels ashamed to have even thought about it that he abruptly exits her house right? How can you argue that he feels no remorse whenever he does anything bad and at the same time ignore the exact moment in which he felt remorse and in fact disgust at himself?
@@sanjitharajesh8436 I have another point to make here. @@amritaoxymoron1944 yeah but it pretty much summarises his ignorance.. trying too hard to explain nothing wrong with a movie like arjun reddy.. its these simple thought processes that makes the underlying issues bigger. Just my personal opinion
I also want to add that there are so many kinds of movies, shows, series that are available on all OTT platforms which are more hard hitting than Arjun Reddy movie. For me, living in the US with an 8 year old child who goes to school, it is a movie like Joker that would bother me. Here, as you all know, shocking incidents happen in schools where one of the kid in that school decides to go on a rampage. As a woman who grew up in the 80's in India, I do understand how women get treated in a relationship. Some relationships can be really bad, not only in terms of physical abuse, but mental manipulation as well. So, the place, society and the current situation who grow up influences a lot of our understanding. When someone says Joker was okay, but I felt Arjun Reddy was bad because he slapped the girl, I feel like it is more of the society that influences the way we see things. For me, Joker was a scary movie and I don't want my child who is so much into comics and superhero movies to watch that movie. It is also upto the adults to decide what you want to watch or not. I have seen some web series that have been created by well-known movie makers in India and I feel terrible about how these shows find air time. Using cuss words in every sentence is also bad. All cuss words in Indian language are centered around women. I saw Student of the Year 2 on TV and was shocked to see that the actress'es father decides to slap her in front of the school Principal and another student. Is that justified. Don't you think a girl's mental attitude and thought process is influenced by the atmosphere at home too. Finally, I don't really think only movies influence people to make certain choices, here maybe bad, unless their own mentality matches with that. If we are saying it influences people then the problem is somewhere else. We need a good family, society and education system that prepares strong willed people.
Joker doesn’t glorify turning into a psycho and murdering people. It is clear throughout the film that the leading man is insane and making the wrong choices, so I don’t understand how anyone sane can walk away from that movie and start thinking it’s ok to act like Joker.
Its the media that misconstrued it. They are at fault here. Parvathy's intention was never targetting Vijay and he understood it well too. It was a discussion and she just put out her opinion which backs the cause she stands for. And some yellow medias for clickbait took things out of context.
Buddy you giving an explanation itself showing that you didn't like the concept because neither Shahid or even the director is bothered .i think it's affected you and you sound depressed.
Shahid and lots of Bollywood folks succumb to media pressure and don't want to let our their true opinion in public fearing they would be misinterpreted by media and face public backlash. Vijay, On the other hand never shies away from letting his mind speak about things he wants. Watch any of his interviews and you would see he is not the one who makes "politically correct" just to appease audience and media.
Maybe he liked the concept, but can't seem to understand why so many people had a problem with the movie. Either he gets it but didn't want to admit that the movie was quite misogynistic or he really doesn't get it 🤦
Exactly what Parvathy said, it is so easy to influence young people as she was influenced by movies when she was young. That's why young college girls love your character. I would have been okay with the whole movie if they Preethi's character showen some growth in the ends , gave him a tight slap and asked him to go and see a psycatrist😄
pjpaavam007 why no one talking about amount of times girl hit the guy in movie? probably that’s ten times of what character arjun did! feminazis are brainless zombies
Crct chepparu.. Anyways the topic is being blown out of proportion, there have been movies before and after AR that have been more problematic.. So one mustn't isolate kabir Singh or AR for it..
This guy still misses the point. When questioned if this is now going to influence how he looks at scripts, he didn’t say yes. Some women thought this was love because they are used to seeing this. Society has normalized trauma bonds and conditional love. It is really so sad. I do think movie is just a movie and blaming a movie for influencing younger generation makes no sense but that is the reality in our country. People with little to no education idol worship actors. Its a sad truth in our country. Cinema is not just art and acting, the actors and their personal views are taken seriously. So when there are fundamentally so many things wrong with how women are viewed in a country, film stars do need to act responsibly. If you don’t want to have that responsibility he is in the wrong business in the wrong country.
janek Then we should not be airing Ramayana and stories of Pandavas etc showing Draupadi being disrobed or Ravana kidnapping Sita etc, etc How many rape scenes were shown in Indian movies? Just take an inventory of that. Jealous people are making a big deal about a Movie AJ. Vijay is an actor depicting a story of a sick/emotional possessive and crazily in love with this college mate. Leave it at that!!
Movies are things happening in society.. some relationship's are so raw n pure.. they portrait their feelings.. if that person doesn't have a problem.. y Should a outside feminist have a problem...
First of all, I like Vijay Devarakonda and his love for telling stories. I totally understood what he said in Anupama Chopra's interview. That a person's character is influenced by his family, the way he is brought up and society . I was shocked however when he said some people who are in a passionate relationship may slap each other and find it normal. This message can have a negative influence on young adults . They may perceive it as 'it ok to touch someone kiss / slap without their permission or violence is ok in a relationship or self abuse is essential to come out of break up. It may be ok for Arjun or Preethi, but it may not go well with entire audience '. Like he said that a billion people can have a billion stories and unique mindset, who knows who all will be influenced by these stories. I have seen many girls struggling with their over dominating boyfriends (which is toxic) or wives putting up with domestic violence (sometimes ending in suicide) . Cinema has a huge influence on Indian society. In that case, cinema can bring change in the way we see women.. Not as an item girl or a girl whose life revolves around her lover. That is what Parvathy also meant and is working really hard to break the path. It is extremely uncomfortable to sit and watch with people who pass lewd comments on the heroine or watch a hero in all his glory being the centre of attraction of all the women. There is a huge limitation in the way women are showcased. New gen actors like Vijay need to be more careful in their portrayal of heroes or the way their character views women. Everywhere around the globe, massive steps are being taken to bring women to light, support them and enable them to come forward. In these situations, if we are still portraying girls who lives in the shadow of men and has zero identity that is because the education we have is insufficient to enlighten us or broaden our minds. We have to understand that small steps can always make a collective difference in both good and bad ways.

What Parvathy said about Arjun Reddy wasn't wrong by any means, but the timing of it was horrendously bad. Vijay Deverakonda was happy to be there among the other colleagues as part of the "Best 100 Performances of the Decade" segment, and what was meant to be a moment of celebration and recognition for his downright spectacular portrayal of a flawed, problematic human being, ended up turning into condemnation and shame. Parvathy's lapse of situational judgement and timing awareness ruined his portion of the segment. And she used "bipolar disorder" as a mere adjective to enunciate her point, which from her was a nasty surprise- future note to all human beings, under no circumstances do you ever use clinically diagnosed conditions as fancy descriptors to make your argument stronger, OK? It is a crass insult to those who actually experience that condition on a daily basis, and bipolar disorder is no joke.
Parvathy was called out for her use of that term, and she immediately responded and apologized for it. She wasn't even tagged in that particular comment. She holds her words accountable. I'm a fan of VD but I feel like he's being obstinately stubborn on this matter.

It made me squirm in places but that's what art does sometimes. I respect Vijay Deverakonda despite this, however. He may come across as stubborn and to be frank, it's his character and defining role so I'm not entirely surprised. Vijay Deverakonda specifically mentions in the video that he refrained from responding out of fear that in the heat of the moment he would have said something that he didn't mean or believe in, and he wanted to cool down before. He has a self awareness that Parvathy didn't exhibit in the interview. Her speech was bang on, but at the cost of celebrating her colleague's performance and achievement? Uncalled for. Especially when you consider that he worked as hard as any other person in the room to be lauded on equal terms as them. She embarrassed him in front of everyone there and it got extremely awkward.
@@daybreakrebornedits don't put the responsibility on parvathi's shoulder...even Ayushman and Deepika padukone supported her views..they have the same opinion....
It's an A-rated movie ffs! So if adults who've watched this movie are getting influenced or something then it's very clear that they're mentally not adults in the first place...they probably need medical attention and not a social media account..!
Dear Vijay, Movies don't influence people? Coming from states where the actors are seen as DEMIGODS and the actors are being elected as CHIEF MINISTERS . Do you really think movies don't influence people? Not everyone are matured and smart enough like bharadwaj here to see through shades of grey. When Arjun reddy got released you were not the sensational star but now you are "The Vijay Deverakonda". Believe it or not teenagers in this country learn love through cinema. By normalizing stalking, abusing and showing women in bad light is not cool. Incident in real life- I saw a bunch of kids playing in my street and they were calling a girl " gundamma" (fat chick) and bullying her. When I intervened the kids were convincing me that it's normal and we are doing this to encourage her... "Bigil padam pakkalaya? " I was shocked !! This is the effect of movies on young and vulnerable minds. This is the power of a huge "So called " 🌟 STAR. Not every parent in India monitor their kids and educate them. So as a part of society you, me and everyone are responsible for the things happening around us. To everyone who are reading this, let's be more responsible! Let's create a better environment for kids, women and men. Spread love not hatred. Let's use social media effectively ! Cheers!! Ps-I loved Vijay Devarakonda not Arjun reddy the movie.
"Spread love not hatred" lol. Had YOU glorified Arjun when he trashes Shiva's soon to be brother-in-law for objectifying air hostess instead of glorifying "fat chick" comment, the world would have been in better place. But NO, people want to get hurt intentionally, get attracted to negative things and preach gospels. And FYI, people have been calling each other "laddu" "motu" "chotu" "takle" since ages..Its not something that's invented by ⭐s PS. Tell those bunch of kids to grow up be toppers, achieve excellency in their field like AR or be a comrade to women in their life like in Dear Comrade. ~ Spread Positivity not negativity ~
@@i_am_shiva7013 I'm not here to prove that my opinion is right and you are wrong. I'm just saying a movie can influence certain people way more than we think. I don't hate Vijay deverakonda either. That is star value. Hope you understood my side of the story.
@@monisham7303 There is no wrong or right here. That is why i presented you a perspective which completely differs from yours. And I guess that is what Vijay trying to tell in the interview. A movie may or may not be capable of influencing the society. You cannot be sure. Human nature is so complex and unpredictable that you cannot comprehend how the content is being perceived from person to person and nobody has control over it.
Arjun Reddy and Geethagovindam are clearly flawed scripts which 99% of the people thoroughly enjoyed. Leave them at it and move on. If you are to delve into the nuances of movie influence on its audience and character sculpting subject, you have to be doing art films. Commercial movies need attention grabbing and awe arising stuff and flaws are bound to sink in. Accept them at their base value and stop mansplaining the little you know, Vijay. People complaining of the misogyny and toxic masculinity are critical viewers and they know so much about movies and cinema that i bet you can’t stand a minute of debate if they are into intricacies and nuances of what’s wrong with these movies. Better be calm when it comes to subjects you are not master of. That’s a whole different realm. I personally loved Arjun Reddy so much. 👍
He says if movies influence people then people would have got inspired and been toppers and surgeons etc after seeing his movie. What he doesn't undersatnd is becoming a surgeon and a topper is tough. Harassing people and bullying is not. He says movies only influence people only at a later stage of life and people form their understanding in their formative years. All that might be true but these movie stars, directors and influencers should understand that our cinema is the reflection of our society. It would have been perfectly normal a few years ago if women were ordered around and treated as secondary characters in movies just as the hero's love interest, someone who is meant to be saved from the villain. Then situation changed and women were given more importance in society and this change reflected in our movies. People watching them are definitely going to be influenced. They might not imitate these characters. Young kids will watch these movies and think this is how we are supposed to behave with people we claim to love.
If a 3-hour movie can influence people then those people have no CHARACTER for themselves, they are just empty vessels ready to be filled up with anything. A movie could serve has an IDEA ONLY if you already have an INTENTION regarding something, otherwise, it will be just entertainment.
The movie never showed pritee's character as week. Indeed she was much stronger than Arjun. She fought all on her own. She did not go back to Arjun but Arjun came to pritee. It takes lots of guts to fight for what she wants and hold the self respect.

Anyone here after seeing the Vijay Deverakonda 2022 August interview? 🙋🏽♀️👍 Vijay is a very passionate person, that’s why he tries to defend the film, no matter how flawed the character is. The 15:48 to 16:36 is so true, young ppl don’t get influenced to do bad stuff after watching a movie, if they are getting influenced that easily maybe their parents shouldn’t let them watch mature films! I think movies should not be teaching children a lesson, their parents should be teaching them.
Dude I loved the movies, I understand your point of view and the people who find it wrong...but I think you need to let it go , it’s OK if people don’t agree with your movie...Arjun , Kabir is not VD , don’t make it that
There is always a fine line between portraying a flawed man and glorifying it as if it is normal to do so. I believe cinema as a media can influence quite a number of people, especially if they belong to that vulnerable age group ( not everyone). Now if cinema should be politically correct always is the bigger question. It needs a debate of its own.
Arjun reddy is an adult movie....if u r 18 nd then watched arjun reddy u had already been through enough shits to differentiate between good and bad.....so i dont see the influence of glorification............

About the "vulnerable age group" getting influenced it is 18+ movie man, guardians should be responsible towards her/his ward and make sure they are protected.
In 'Pelli Choopulu' a lazy dude finds his way in life makes something of himself. In 'Taxiwaala' not so bright engineering graduate works as a Taxi driver makes his life, In 'Dear Comrade' he fights for and with the woman he loves. If that movie can inspire then these movies should also influence these teenagers.
Misogyny is not even considered as an issue in indian society and so is abusive relationships. Normalizing it in pop culture, will only reinforce the fact that it is okay to ignore it. I am sure more people would be outraged if arjun reddy continued to rape the girl and stab her and continues to be the hero of the movie, because rape is consideredly wrong by the society.
22:34 Vijay explaining how movies influence/inspire people with already existing bad intentions and contradicting himself by saying that just movies don't influence people.

Love the way you heard only that line and missed everything else afterwards✌. R u a journalist? Quoting something totally out of context and making it a headline is exactly something they regularly do
So basically vijya is butt hurt that he got trolled and laughed at. And he wanted to get “even” with those ppl who laughed at him! That is the whole fucking point!
Arjun Reddy is the film which has more influence on VD's career That's the reason post AR his lineup is completely more thinking of content that are related to society, women he's taking too much care because of the backlash that is been going till now That is one of reason for dear comrade failure He is an Actor let him give his space don't troll him personally until and unless u don't like his work
Well, I understand what you are saying Vijay but I think we are also asking for the same. The fact that you don't understand concepts like misogyny shows that you come from a privileged position. There were similar concepts of discrimination that I did not understand because of the same reason. So, I think even we need to look at the shades of grey hidden in a simple dialogue like "fat chic" or other similar things that are said in movies. And I do love Pellichupulu and it is one movie I can watch like a million times. Arjun Reddy is a negative character and that's totally normal. But the difference is the negative character shouldn't end up looking inspirational or cool. And when you say "they are people who are ready to be influenced", that is a large majority of the society because of the education and lack of awareness. Movie is popular medium and influences people more than things taught in school is the problem and the sad fact that people are influenced easily by negative things than positive are all issues.

Manasi Thakur your comment has no meaning at all. Everyone has their one perspective, not everyone has sensible perspective. What Parvathi had was just the moronic view at life connecting it to cinema
Evan 30 Dude trust me Parvathi’s view is not moronic I have seen people who were greatly influenced by the characters from movies. Those type of people do exist who aren’t capable of differentiating what is reel and real. So we can’t just brush her of.
Poojitha Dandamudi You haven’t thought this through at all. Maybe you haven’t watched enough movies, or maybe you don’t realise cinema doesn’t have the power to change the society ‘for better’. For instance, Andhadhun showcased killing, and deception as normal and ‘some’ people in the theatre were laughing when tabu kills old lady (neighbour) and movie Joker was seen him killing others obnoxiously and everyone was wearing mask in the last scene of movie and audience rooted in theatre for that. If someone is stupid enough to get influenced negatively, the recent example of Priyanka reddy is enough to say the victims will face their fate in reality. There will be consequences for the cruelty in real life; if someone thinks a character in the movie got away from crime doesn’t mean the person will have the same fate if approached in real. Thank you 🙏🏻
I am 65 and dude, you talk sense..ppl need to be more tolerant of others. Arjun reddy was a man who was blindly in love. His actions at times on the spur...but end of the day his love was sincere. And you Vijay are good..your understanding is immense.

Vijay here has a very valid point . The so Called feminists want the world to be black and white. But the truth is the world is grey . Political correctness is cancer killing the art of cinema. It has come to a point where the main leads of a movie cannot have flaws of any kind. Many a time this rule applies to only the lead men who don't follow the rule book created by feminists on how to be nice to women. These are women who don't have a problem with films like Wolf of Wall Street and will probably rave about it ( I know Suchitra Tyagi will). Leave your personal biases and agendas aside and like or dislike a movie for its merits or demerits.
What he is saying is absolutely right everyone wants to take sides like why can't we a little broad minded? 1. The thing br said was in the scene arjun calling shruthi (the other character of the film) "fat chick" i think that's the beauty of his character in the next scenes itself he says about air hostess ("air hostess ante andamga undaali ane cheap mentality ra vididhi") these two are contradictory right i think most of us are like that we are contradictory that's what makes his character so real. 2. Arjun kissing preeti without her permission first of all arjun reddy is a complete perspective of arjun even if you see in the breakup song the scene goes to flashback only when arjun draws bullet on his wall and in other scene, in front of preeti's house only if shiva looks up we can see preeti, except in the climax scene none of the places preeti is shown just like that, so if you observe after preeti's father talking to arjun for the first time when he says "uncle don't worry i will take care" the way preeti looks at him is so special and clearly she felt some sort of connection. When they were playing anthakshari in the hostel preeti sings song "thum se milke ayisa laga thum se milke" and she will be smiling and blushing, since they didn't show preeti's perspective in the film maybe preeti said to their hostel mates that she likes arjun too who knows? I mean this is just my opinion and what i understood. Arjun reddy is a classic its one of the best films in india. People have different opinions which i genuinely understand but might not agree like vijay said.
"People who are criticizing me for AR , are not praising me for Dear Comrade ." Thats the whole point .
Leo can you tell me how can one accept and do a role without accepting it and feeling it right? Do you do things which you feel is wrong and still do it? That is why he is explaining his side of the story....

yes... BR is a really good person...
It’s a therapy session of Vijay 😂
Being a feminist from the bottom of my heart , I watched Arjun Reddy eagerly expecting to see some misogyny. But honestly I was quite taken aback because the problem isn't misogyny at all, but of ego and anger issues. If you observe closely you'll see his anger makes him ill treat and disrespect his friends, family and ofcourse Priti. There's nothing exclusively misogynistic or male chauvinistic in it. Also the 'fat chick' dialogue is more of fat shaming than disrespecting women!
Basically to all my feminist friends out there, yes we need to strongly oppose misogyny but don't try so hard that you start seeing it in places where it isn't really the case!
well said.
I just wanted to say the same you said.. Thanks for saving my energy, Perfectly understood & explained..
Yeah he's just a massive asshole. Nothing really misogynistic in the movie.
Sorry for the essay lol
i dont think so with fame, he is changed.
Right put
Thank you !
2 is a subset of 1. They don't have a distinction 😅.
It is wrong if they say 'if you are in love you must be abusive' (which the director kind of implied in the interview). The point is VD didn't get it. His point of view is you could expect them to be abusive if they are in love.

True.

Wish all those who focused just on that one time AR hit Preethi, had noticed that the first slap that happens between them was when Preeti slaps him at the bus stand and the last time a slap happens between them was again when Preethi slaps him many times towards the end of the movie. Out of those 10/15 slaps that happen between AR and Preethi , it is only once that AR slapped Preethi. Rest all the slaps Preethi gave to AR. Why has no one objected to Preethi hitting AR????? Is it okay for woman to slap/hit a man. Lets be fair people!

He deserves praise for having basic fucking decency? Have the standards for respecting women really become that low?

@@rameshlovemaryarivalanpott8290 I'm sorry. That wasn't my point. This does affect men as well, that was my one-sided perspective speaking. My point was that when actresses like Parvathy express their opinion on an issue they do usually get backlash. Obviously VJD not degrading her was a good thing, but my point is that stuff like this shouldn't be something to point out, but should be automatically instilled in men's or in general, people's minds. This was a totally unnecessary discussion/explanation.. VD must stop discussing bout the arguments around arjun reddy, he's already moved on.. This only makes good fodder for media to keep slandering him. Even more.. VD jus avoid this controversy like Shahid has done
Still the contraversy about Arjun Reddy is haunting him bro, that is the reason.
He said that it was the last time he would ever talk about it. It's bothering him so it's completely fine to put his thoughts forward instead of keeping it with himself
You should stop addressing Vijay Devarkonda as VD. It doesn't connect well.
Shahid is copy cat, he was suffered by another feminazi Kareena Kapoor.
Yep totally agree... no pointing discussing this.
Anchor is right... why should it bother VIjay. In our world everyone has an opinion, we just need to respect and move on
Just as Vijay is saying that people are'nt getting his point of view, he doesn't get what the furore is all about!
But how was the movie misogynistic though?
1) The way in which the film treated the women:
Ok I've heard this one often.
2)Glorification of Toxic Masculinity :
You can argue that the film glorified toxic masculinity. But that is only true if you consider candor a masculine trait. By saying that aren't YOU implying that women can't exhibit candor and being a sexist YOURSELF?
3)The accessibility argument:
You are acting like VJD didnt accept that AR is a flawed character. This is a brazen lie. There is an entire video in which he discusses about this and guess what the video is named? "VJD says that AR is a flawed character"
On a side note why does every actor have to be socially responsible with their craft? Art should not be suppressed. That is the first step towards fascism.
And the knife point rape scene that you mentioned. You do realize that he feels ashamed to have even thought about it that he abruptly exits her house right? How can you argue that he feels no remorse whenever he does anything bad and at the same time ignore the exact moment in which he felt remorse and in fact disgust at himself?
@@sanjitharajesh8436 I have another point to make here. I just want to know, if the youth is so impressionable then tell me, will they get influenced by the way in which women(wives) are degraded in the Kapil Sharma Show. Every time when Kapil says biwi aisi hoti hai, waisi hoti hai, small kids who watch him weekly may create on opinion that, yes women are like what Kapil defines them and based on this opinion they may treat all the women they encounter in their life accordingly. Please tell me is this a possibility, if so then please tell me is criticism of Vijay selective. Sorry if this question is out of context but i just want to know your opinion on this.

Wish Vijaydevarakonda and Sai pallavi make one nice love/family drama
VD: you don't have to listen to anyone...just do what you feel is correct
Parvathy herself acted in a movie named Mariyaan, where her character gets kicked and slapped by Dhanush multiple times in the movie. How can she be such a hypocrite?

It is not parvathi's fault... Anupama chopra asked her about Arjun Reddy controversy...what is her opinion about the mysoginy in the movie...the situation or question was not parvathi's choice...but parvathi always speaks the truth...
@@anushkabanerjeee I'm not defending the vulgarity of Arjun Reddy as a character, but I recognize the right to portray him as he is because he is a flawed person. Extremely fucked up. I don't agree with that, but I defend the right to depict it. I've only seen the film once, so I'm speaking from distant memory- I'm not sure if it glorified misogyny, but it did definitely show it. It made me squirm in places but that's what art does sometimes. I respect Vijay Deverakonda despite this, however. He may come across as stubborn and to be frank, it's his character and defining role so I'm not entirely surprised. But just because he played a horrible human being, it doesn't mean he necessarily is one. That's what I feel a lot of people are missing here. He has a self awareness that Parvathy didn't exhibit in the interview. Her speech was bang on, but at the cost of celebrating her colleague's performance and achievement? Uncalled for.

Dear Vijay,
Movies don't influence people?
Cheers!!

You nailed it with your answers good job
Why would young kids watch Arjun Reddy?
@Another One agreed
If a 3-hour movie can influence people then those people have no CHARACTER for themselves, they are just empty vessels ready to be filled up with anything.
Movies COULD influence people if your core is already rotten (i mean only about negative things), if not movies you find inspiration elsewhere. A movie could serve has an IDEA ONLY if you already have an INTENTION regarding something, otherwise, it will be just entertainment.
Get a life. It's A rated movie if ur kid is smoking weed it's ur fault. Not weed's problem dumbduk
The movie never showed pritee's character as week. Indeed she was much stronger than Arjun. She fought all on her own. She did not go back to Arjun but Arjun came to pritee. It takes lots of guts to fight for what she wants and hold the self respect.
I can just keep on listening to Vijay Deverakonda 💟💟💟
Bro, that was a movie. You did your job. Now get on... And bring more good movies.
Ya right he wanted to get over to the topic arjun reddy but some people around the corner bring the topic back to the controversy. Basicly they all are jealous of his increasing craze in all the indian industry
@@rahulkumar-sg5bs damn fact 👏

But some people didnt get that a man without any film background becoming more popular then the other stablished actors. Grew up people there is lot of work to do other then criticising the movie . One thing i don't understand, every one watches porn and hollywood movies rite !and it's a part of our life we watch them .how come those pictures doesn't influence our character and y arjun Reddy alone ! I felt arjun Reddy is the thug character and has been inspired by some random guy , and it is taken out from the existing person it's not a new one eg: as Sandeep reddy vanga himself . Before this movie I've seen few arjun reddys in my college .so the conclusion is movie don't ever influence someone ,if people get attracted to the negative portion then there is something default with their brains not with the actors/actresses 😂any how leave the Barkers bro let them bark 😜
Vijay Devarakonda I love you
Anyone here after seeing the Vijay Deverakonda 2022 August interview? 🙋🏽♀️👍 Vijay is a very passionate person, that’s why he tries to defend the film, no matter how flawed the character is. The 15:48 to 16:36 is so true, young ppl don’t get influenced to do bad stuff after watching a movie, if they are getting influenced that easily maybe their parents shouldn’t let them watch mature films! I think movies should not be teaching children a lesson, their parents should be teaching them.
i am here after 2022 Interview!
I like vijay devarconda
He is very good actor....
Super star vijay .... Arjun reddy is a masterpice its a eyeconic movie

In 'Taxiwaala' not so bright engineering graduate works as a Taxi driver makes his life,
In 'Dear Comrade' he fights for and with the woman he loves.
@@devilwearsbata Arjun Reddy, rape, and stab, we are speaking about same movie right?
22:34 Vijay explaining how movies influence/inspire people with already existing bad intentions and contradicting himself by saying that just movies don't influence people.
Do not watch and understand in bits and pieces understand the context in which he is saying that is the whole debate about
He didn't say movies don't influence people. He said movies ALONE don't influence people.
There's a difference.

So basically vijya is butt hurt that he got trolled and laughed at. And he wanted to get “even” with those ppl who laughed at him! That is the whole fucking point!
Arjun Reddy is the film which has more influence on VD's career
That's the reason post AR his lineup is completely more thinking of content that are related to society, women he's taking too much care because of the backlash that is been going till now
That is one of reason for dear comrade failure

Sunitha Shetty wow.. u are soo much dedicated to him
Well, I understand what you are saying Vijay but I think we are also asking for the same.
Keerthana Kunnamvally well put. The justification he gave for calling the person a fat chick and it’s influence is not making any sense!
Thank you!
Fact♥️
So true! Hope many people realize this!

Vijay D'a voice and style of talking itself is therapy
I'm not arguing about the movie issue here but if he thinks movie didn't impact people, then why is he giving this interview to explain, this will also won't make any impact no?

#ArjunReddy as a character is unique and interesting. The passion and self destructive love towards Preeti strucks a chord with the Audience. Misogynist Narrative regarding the movie is misplaced.
He keeps repeating that he is not bothered, it doesn't matter but the whole demeanour and body language screams otherwise
Vijay you did good job & Arjun reddy was really good nd dont think about people . Just do many more hit movie nd shut the mouth of people specialy haters .
