Avitus sounded quite upset at learning that Tarkus was the traitor and I don't blame him. They were best friends after all, Avitus must've felt like he was personally betrayed by Tarkus.
No he is not. This is an excuse they all make themselves but they end up being an antihero after all. Tarkus fall was the worst one because he just succumbed to the bolter XD
@@PetersaberHD I think it's because they asked Avitus's vouce actor to do the base voice for the messages, knwoing that his betrayal will be the canon one

He was corrupted in his efforts to end the destruction of the chapter, trying to find a weapon the could end all the madness going on around him. All his years of experience and dedicated service would only reinforce his notion that he could resist the corruption, and bring this power to bear upon his enemies.

5 years late, but I remember reading somewhere that they overlayed all the voices in the encrypted transmission
Without Tarkus, you don't get a heads up that Eliphas knows the weaknesses of his own slaves and he would have "taken steps to address them"
He might aswell have painted his armour in the colours of Legion of the Damned.
