Athouba is clearly prejudiced. Instead of criticising Alfred, he should be asking the CM why he has not been able to convince his boss to visit Manipur. He should be analysing why the CM is so afraid to take decisive action.
He should be questioning why the two previous MPs were silent throughout the remainder of their term.
He also fails to understand that being neutral doesn't mean not being interested or invested. Being neutral means giving a safe space for both opposing views to hold dialogue and thus create opportunity for peace.
I'm surprised a so called intellectual like Athouba is unable to understand the necessity of handling the present conflict in a sensitive and inclusive manner.
Alfred only had 10 minutes or so to present his case. What does Athouba expect him to do in that short a time - share the detailed history of the conflict and all the consequences so far and explain the meaning of justice and what kind of justice? Makok yaodana waa ngangbashidi yaningde, Oja Athouba.
Both Bimol and Alfred have done more in their maiden speech than the CM has in the last 15 months. So let's applaud that.

The MP is supposed to speak inside and outside Parliament. Good that both the MPs could speak well. Yet strategies to resolve the ensuing conflicts and problems facing by the people should be the agenda. These MPs should be in the midst of people to thrash out how the problems are resolved.
