As a Band Competition Coordinator and Adjudicator for many years I know the importance of making sure the adjudicators utilized are familiar with all different styles, not just from where they attended school or their area. This avoids bias. With that being said, this is why the discrepancies were present at Saturday's event, especially in the area of percussion and auxiliary. For example, if the auxiliary adjudicator has a "dance" background that person cannot fairly judge other auxiliary captions fairly because he/she doesn't know what they are looking at (Ex: Flag, Baton). The footage speaks for itself!
There were several bands competing at the competition, and overall, both bands did a really good job. However, it made a difference to see each band's performance in person. The sound was better, and you were able to view the full band performance. The cameraman only recorded the front of the band, while the judges were evaluating other criteria in addition to musicality. Yes, SWD's performance could have been better, but overall, they were the best band.
I beg the differ. Kings Fork pound for pound was the best. Their musical maturity was unmatched. Their performance energy was consistently high level. I have always been and will always be an SWD fan but this even goes to the Kings Fork H.S. Mighty Marching Bull Dogs from Suffolk, Virginia. VA Stand UP!❤ Congrats to all participating bands. #FORTHECULTURE.
@@anthonyphillips7374 Kings Fork DL alone sounded like it was one drummer playing all the parts! I would've thought it was college DL if I only heard the audio without the host and crowd.
Both were pretty good. I'm a long time fan of SWD back in the day when that band was like 300+ members however KF sound a little bit stronger not very much but I definitely can hear a stronger sound from them. SWD drum section was hands down better and their dance routines were better....IN MY OPINION 🤣 I'm no judge but both were good. 👍🏿
imo if ur talm bout difficult then kings fork aint play nun dat hard either. they had mainly grooves n swd had more runs n chops . everybody talked bout ghr girl fallin but it aint bout the fall the competition was about bands n how well they performed. she got back up n kept choppin. not hatin but i see lots of ppl hatin on both bands n imo both if em did they best . even tho there were flaws
3:38 those are truly good horns. I'm all too used to seeing marching bands with awesome percussion but well, their horns need work. seriously that brass plays really well!
Nah nobody has 30 year old tubas like us ( they’re literally 24 years old and held together by duck tape )😂 also we’re obviously not at that level yet but we’ll get there soon
Southwest probably (definitely) has connections cause of their movie, already being in georiga, etc. both bands were pretty good tho and kings fork was 2nd 🤷🏾♂️
@@Kor_ii preciate the compliment but let’s bfr. That movie is 20 years old. What connections would we have to help us win a small current 6 flags botb?
I want my round two, this time imma be petty ain’t no way SWD actually won, the visuals were good but you cant be sitting down on the floor, tryna play towards another band and start having bad tone quality and cracking notes. You also can’t defend them by saying visuals is everything whats the point of you adding all this extra if you sound 🗑️
Both bands did great work and definitely a great matchup. Hopefully we can revisit it again in the future.

The front of the band is where the sound is coming from and all im concerned with.

Way to go guys!
YESSIR 757!!!
5:00 their brass isn't bad but their percussion is excellent.
First band has much better brass, second has better percussion.
let’s go kings fork
Kings Fork Deserved That 1st place Percussion SW didn’t play anything difficult and what they did play was pretty dirty both bands did rlly well tho👍
Cry me a river lmao
Now I love the 100 but y’all drumline is js pisspoor y’all shouldn’t comment on this subject y’all have NO beats but the band is #1 tho

He stood directly in front of SWD ofc you gon hear more mess ups than kings fork. I promise you it sounded much better from the stands
It was an good battle but 3 Tubas outplayed 11,Quality over quantity but I’m sure SWD Tubas Will Get Better,Trumpets at SWD Please Practice Tone
Not everyone has new tubas that sound good just saying maybe they had some bad horns
The sound quality was terrible, tubas for swd were definitely louder in person.
@@bandspot3257 I thought about that but it’s other high schools and colleges who has way older tubas and their quality is good

Swd tubas are a developing section I’m the only one who’s been playin tuba for years plus our horns are stuffy as shit
SWD!!!!
Swd most def won that

It’s a reason swd drumline won best percussion, they offered to battle to get rid of whining but king fort walked away 🤷🏾♂️

You say they sound bad but I want you to look at the superior ratings they consistently receive for festival playing level 5 pieces.
@@newdirection6182 to be fair KF has also been receiving straight superior ratings on VA Grade level 4-5 music as well for the last 7 years.
