  • I wasn't able to get the printer connected to the new network without some tinkering. This is how I got my MG3620 to connect wirelessly on Windows 10.

    I would truly like to meet the person that designed the way this system work and have a nice long conversation with them. I truly appreciate the help, and thank you for sharing your frustration with us along the way. It made me feel much less helpless, alone, and extremely angry.

    Just like the other viewers, I have to thank you so much because Canon did not do the best job of laying out instructions to set this printer up using Wifi or even connecting it to your PC. Thanks for saving me soo much stress. I had left this printer in the box for 8 months after moving because I could never figure this out even before I moved.

    OMG! You do not understand how many days I have been trying to fix this. We got a new router from the cable company & nobody told us this could happen. Seriously... just installed new ink & all. Ready to get my business off the ground & here we go. I LOVE YOU SO FREAKING MUCH, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!!!!! Thank you sooooooo much!

    So my dad needed me to stay at his place for a few days to help with some house stuff while I had a midterm in less than 8 hours (in which I have to print something). His printer doesn't work so I brought mine over and didn't realize it wouldn't automatically connect I've spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out how to connect my printer to the new wifi and YOU JUST SAVED MY GRADE IN CHEMISTRY!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

      You're welcome!! I've had a couple times where I ended up having a full letter grade deducted on an assignment due to tech issues like internet or printers not working, never a fun situation.     I used to use an Epson ET-2550 ruclips.net/user/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 , an early model of the ink tank style. It worked well, but had one nuisance that drove me up the wall; if you didn't put it in high quality print mode you'd get a streak across the page. I'm happy to say I have yet to see this with this printer. The print quality has been fantastic so far, the set up was super easy. All in all I'm very happy with this printer.

    THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I spent HOURS trying to connect to my upgraded service under a different router/wifi name. I had given up and ordered another printer, but decided to just try RUclips and found your video. After watching I was able to reconnect within minutes the new system, and canceled my order on a new printer! ( I have the 3620 model that I bought January 2020)

    Thank you sooo much for this video! I was going mad 🤬 trying to set-up this printer. I have always printed from my phone since buying this hunk of junk because I didn't want to deal with this headache. Now I have to print things for my business and had to pull up my sleeves to get this done. I felt like I was back in the early 2000's trying to set up a printer ..absolutley makes no sense!     You are a legend, I've been trying for hours to sort this printer out. I tried the WPS method nothing, tried router settings, resetting the printer, been searching the internet all evening for a solution this solved it!

    It even had an option to register at the end for a MONTHLY email that and a full gigabyte of garbage software. Wow what generous souls. Thank you for the help btw.

    I've had a few of these printers - they all seem to develop the same fault after a while, but they are cheap enough to replace. Not good for the environment, but what can we do? I have never managed to hook them up using Wifi until watching this. Thank you. Since the first one I had, they have been the most difficult thing to connect. There are loads of comments about this online and things haven't improved. Obviously, Canon doesn't care. That said, for the money, if you survive the frustration of the setting up process, they do a good job. One tip: shop around. As I write this they are £89.99 on Amazon UK. I just bought one from Argos (UK) for £34.50

    Great video, I've had this printer for a couple of years and thought the wifi feature was broken, USB connection worked well. Little did I know my research back then was terrible, could not find a way to connect wirelessly. Just retried it watching your video and IT WOOOORRKKKSSS.... thanks for your walkthrough.

      Hmm the only thing I could think of is to make sure to connect to the correct network. I connected printer to the 2.4GHz band network at first and I got not responding, and I noticed my PC was connected to the 5GHz. Switched over and it worked.

    Canon have made a damn good printer. I wonder why they can't come up with a simple way to connect it, and a manual that makes sense

      Agreed, it's a decent printer and very durable, yet not very easy to setup. Luckily, it's one and done unless you change your WiFi network name.

      @@letechnology1774 Well last time, this really helped. However, at some point, printer lost connection and nothing I can do will get it connected. I have literally thrown the printer out. The end of my relationship with Canon, such BS
      I am off to buy a new printer made by someone else!

    Thanks. I've had this printer for years and always dread every time I've had to reconnect. I actually find the Quick Menu useful, the rest of the software is bloatware.

    Mine was more complicated than this but uses the same steps. If yours fails the method shown in this video, the next option is WPS mode. You get given instructions after this fails, the next screen says either WPS or USB method. I chose WPS method. The next steps are similar to this but you press the black button instead of colour. After this you press the button labelled WPS on your wi-fi router (the internet box in your house, not a button on your printer this time). Then you press next and it should be able to find your printer. When doing it this way it it automatically allowed all the other computers to connect back to the printer again without having to do this on every PC. I believe I had to do it this way as my PC is connected via ethernet and has no wi-fi.

    Kudos thanks for this video second time I am actually using it reset my wifi password and printer doesnt work ran through the installation again up until where it said its connected and its online again.

      Well thank you for the comment and the rare kudos! One thing that's stereotypical of IT, but typically successful, is to restart. Either the device, the process itself, or both. Restarting electronic devices on a regular basis helps reduce issues by quite a bit. More than you'd think. So good thinking Colin!!

    I have one computer set up through usb and am trying to set my laptop - different room wirelessly. Could that be an issue? I'm lost canon tells me they don't recognize the MG3600. And I couldn't find that program you said to install??? How can they sell a printer they don't know they have? (I know you don't know, just a little venting) I guess its me because every else seems to have had success. ☹

      That definitely should not be an issue! I've mixed wired and wireless for years between many different PCs. Ha yeah it seems a lot of electronics seller's almost never mention a product after 2 new models are made.     Hi all! just recently reinstalled the driver. used to be able to move the quickprint shortcut around desktop, but I have forgotten. Anyone knows how to change so that it can have the dragging handles to move? would appreciate any reply thx

      So if I understand correctly you have a desktop icon that acts as a shortcut to main "Canon Quick Print" service and when dragged to where you want it on desktop it snaps back into place on leftmost spot on screen? Please try going to Desktop (while holding Win key [usually second button left of space] tap M key, then take all hands off). Then right-click on desktop/background and ensure that "View" --> "Auto Arrange Icons" is unchecked. If checked, click on button to uncheck then refresh desktop via right-click --> "Refresh". Let me know if this helped not or give more details if you feel I didn't understand your problem correctly.

      So I know it's a pain in the butt on my phone but I run custom OS. If you have access to Google on your phone look for the Canon printer app on PlayStore.

      Yes but I'd need more info. How are you trying to connect it? Are you following video step by step or trying a slightly different method? There may be other ways for it to work but I'd need to know what steps you've taken so far. And sorry for such a super delayed reply!

      I'm sorry but what do you mean by WiFi button? For a MG3600 series there is no WiFi button. That's why it's so stupidly hard to setup without help. If you tell me where you're confused I'd be more than happy to help! That's why I do this

    LE Technology can you help me please please please. I am on a new network and can't get the printer to connect to my computer. The canon software seems to be missing so I tried to download it from the link you sent. Once it was downloaded I opened it and allowed the app to have access to my computer. I then got an error that has red circle with X and reads at the top Winzip self extractor - can't create output file : C:Users//14167/AppData/Logc/Temp/win-mg-3600-1_0-jucd/MSetup4.exe

      I'd love to! So when youdownloaded the file that gives you the error when opening, when you run it don't just double click it. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator" (www.pathloss.com/pwiki/images/Run_as_admin.JPG) and try again. Let me know if it works!

      Hi there, please make sure you do it in the following order: Hold Wi-Fi/wireless button until it blinks, press the Color button once, then press the Wi-Fi/wireless button once. Let me know if this works or not

    This video is SO helpful.. But I am stuck on #2 still and it is asking me to select from the list or search by the IPv4 address.. I printed out the Network Configuration Page but there was not IPv4 address -____-

      What would #2 be? Hmm... So first I would say try the entire process over again and make sure you download the software from the link in the description. I think you're missing the IPv4 since you're not connected to the network yet. I printed the test page and I get IP 4 and 6 but I think that's because I'm already connected to the network. Let me know if you still have difficulties!

      By the update page are you referring to the screen it goes to after the Printers On Network List? Printers On Network List didn't list any printer for me so ensure checkbox under that list is checked. If it doesn't bring you to the Setup Guide then please try the previous steps over and ensure printer is on
