Fans became too smart to the business, and way too fickle Always expecting wrestlemAnia quality matches And wanting no one now to be jobbers, unfortunately you need jobbers to sell moves to make them look special, and the best sellers at the moment are Ricochet and exavier woods
It's not even about blood or realism. The product is just not entertaining period. They don't need blood or a sense of realism to get good ratings, they just need really good storylines told through wrestling and promos and they'll be good and they got lazy with that.
I disagree with the talent thing. These divas now days?!? Athletically and in ring, they blow the last generations of divas out the water. Like it ain't even close. Also guys like Sammy Zayne, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Kofi, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens... All those guys are GREAT in ring talents. Their story lines were just poorly managed.
I don't think the PG era was the sole reason for the decline of WWE. I believe it was also due to the fact that WWE booking is terrible and they can't elevate the right talent at the right time.
Pg era was actually solid with plenty of memorable amazing moments. It was after the PG era where thinks hit a hard decline, I stopped tuning in after all that.
@@cyberbron2024 I agree. The PG area had some aspects about it that was entertaining. Taker wrestlemania matches especially mania 25 was one of my favorite matches ever.
I also said that their decline came from their inability to not know how to make stars despite the fans making the stars for them and them not really caring. The roster they had from NXT 2013-2019 was to take over the main roster. Guys like Adam Cole, Keith Lee, PAC, Bray Wyatt, Cody Rhodes, FTR, and many others were chastised by the backstage politics and let go despite the fans loving them. Right now, they have no main Babyface in the company. Roman is the main face period. I've said this as well: the Catalyst for their recent struggles are 2 things: the refusal to hear all the fans, not just the kids and the birth of AEW because of them releasing Cody Rhodes. Cody is the son of one of the greatest wrestling minds ever and the fact that they didn't really entertain any of his ideas but thought it would be great to put him in facepaint and make him feel like his brother is an insult. That's why they didn't get the Young Bucks or Hangman Adam Page or Kenny Omega. What would you do with them? They have the most international roster they've had ever and still don't know what to do. Shinsuke Nakamura shoulda been 4 time WWE champion, Sami coulda been one of the best underdog champions ever, the UE was the successors for a major faction screwed it all up. They are an entertainment company that forget one of the W's stands for Wrestling. Why do you think AEW always announces a championship match with the name: All Elite Wrestling, all the time? They are a Wrestling company that branches into Entertainment.
Brocks a baby face Nakamura is energy prone he should have had a title reign tho. But I look at him like he is holding the talent for a guy with a long run. Samoa Joe should have been better used as well. Cody is sucking on AEW by not listening to fans. All of his ideals aren’t gold. Just like the WWE and their writers.
I miss their efforts on the stage, the promos. The moving graphics. You get invested in them. Characters you can relate to. Why can’t they do it anymore? They became lazy and complacent. It’s true that you don’t need blood and gore but you need it sometimes depending on the story you’re telling. I can’t even last watching the current product anymore, hell 3 hours? I just can’t. Unlike before.
I'm glad I watched WCW 96 to 99, then WWF 99 to 06, those were the best times to be a fan. Now I just watch highlights or just listen to podcasts to know what is going on.
I'm always amazed when people blame the PG rating for the problems with WWE today. The WWF was PG in the 1980s, and yet they had no problem getting people to watch their shows on TV, attend their live events, and buy their PPVs. Blame Vince for not giving a damn anymore, not the rating.
Social Media/Internet plays a massive role in that. Do you know how many Insiders spoil shit such as returns and shit? Imagine if you didn’t know CM PUNK was returning in AEW do you know how fire that shit would be? And plus social media allowed you to see the wrestlers for who they actually are. What makes the undertaker so legendary was because of how he protected your character. You can’t do that shit in this era. The one thing people sleep on about this era in wrestling is that some of the BEST matches we’ve have gotten come from this era. The internet/social median not only fucked wwe up it fucked wrestling up for all…
You “wrestling” fans in these comments need to understand, the in ring action is not entertaining when these guys don’t make it realistic. These guys don’t know how to look fatigued or hurt, they don’t know how to implement the psychology aspect the same way the wrestlers used to . Some guys like Roman Reigns and Randy Orton Edge etc get it . The rest of the roster does not
@@quntface1518 I mean blaming the company is an obvious, we’ve been doing that, but the talent needs to take some responsibly as well. Some of these guys have been in the company for over 5 years and still can’t sell a good match or work the mic halfway decent
The decline just so happened to coincide with the rise of the smart marks(neckbeards) People became complacent and due to constantly wanting wrestlemAnia quality matches made the long and special matches less special The fans are fickle and will automatically say that someone is being buried, never mind how long it took for some legends to get their first major run Shawn Michael's-10 years HHH - 8 years Edge - 7 years Roddy piper never won the title
Fully agree They want every wrestler to be Benoit, Punk, and Bryan Look at the wrestlers he had when he was speaking of the past generations.. everyone of them stood out , were different sizes and wrestled different, plus they all told great stories in the ring and promos so they all stood out If everyone is doing suicide dives, Flips and kicks and having a ppv type of matches on tv where people are kicking out or finishers for a "shock reaction" pop , it means NOTHING to casual fans I remember when Zack Ryder won the ic title at WrestleMania only to lose it The Miz on a televised raw, nothing against miz he's an awesome heel, that is bad booking, they've done this several times over the past years, why would anyone spend $50 bucks for a ppv just to see the same match on tv? As mentioned we can complain all we want but both Aew and the WWE are still making money by their sponsors and tv deals so they're not going to change What really overall ruined the WWE was becoming a publicly owned product, that means they're getting paid no matter what they put out on tv Vince McMahon changed to the attitude era because he privately owned and was losing money, that's the Truth
You know what’s crazy, I watched stone cold on a podcast a couple days ago and the podcast looked like it took place back in the early 2000s. He was asked how the company was during the time and he said it sucked and he didn’t like where the company was going. That crazy because when that podcast came out, that’s when wwe I believe was in pr heading into the ruthless aggression era, some would say the best era of wwe. Also y’all should go online and look at old wwe forums, it’s crazy what fans back in the early 2000s thought of wwe at the time, some fans said that when wwf switched to wwe is when the company died. People say the company died when it switched to pg, hmmm , I wonder what fans who grew up watching in the 80s thought of the attitude era, where you had cursing, nudity , inappropriate gimmicks, back in the 80s people thought of the wrestlers as super hero’s, then in then 90s they switch more to sexual content, I truly wonder how those fans felt about the switch, I wonder what Bruno samartino thought about it, iron sheik, slaughter, snuka, . I wouldn’t be suprised if they weren’t fans of the attitude era like people in the attitude ere aren’t fans of todays era. I guess we as fans will never be satisfied with new eras😂😂😂 . If we think real hard, maybe the wwe died along time ago, we just didn’t know, I. Mean with all the technology we can now voice our opions and we are more heard than ever before. We can now get on the company for their mistakes when we see botches.
It's called nostalgia people always forget that in real time it's very different now that's not to say it wasn't overall better but it certainly wasn't perfect and it certainly didn't please everyone or was without controversy or complaint
To be honest I just stop watching it altogether even NXT when it become 2.0 I just basically watch the results on youtube or on the wwe website. I wish I had an answer about the decline WWE is having because this person's video pretty much explains it.
What's good Ross? Great video upload, I believe it's a combo of all of the above but for me it's not developing new talent that the fans want to see and are pushing to go to the next level. I'm tried of seeing part time wrestlers get more pull and the wrestlers that are there 24/7 being treated like shit. I'm an ol school fan of this great sport since 1986 watching Jim Crockett Promotions here in North Carolina and year after year I am watching less WWE and more of other promotions (NWA, MLW, AAA, ROH, NJPW, and Impact) because they are giving true fans what they want "Professional Wrestling".
Yeah I really agree with you they have the talent well had the talent lol but they just push the same people over and over again and people they called up from nxt just tanked they didn’t even know how to utilize them which made fans give up on them
It was both when Eddie died in '05 & when Chris died in '07 that's when WWE changed then year's, on the way the internet came out & u had smarks kept on complaining about the simplest things imo.
Wrestling back in the 1990's was the place to be!! The Nation of Domination, The Hart Dynasty, Legion of Doom, The Acolytes, Ministry of Darkness, The Corporation, Right to Censor, The Brood, and my favorite Degeneration X. Nothing could even come close to the WWF back in the 90's, and I loved every single bit of it too.
100% the writing, you can absolutely have a great/ phenomenal PG rated show 2nd incarnation of NXT had proved that. What I see in that company now is an old immature man who sees wrestlers as expendable actions figures, because he making the perfect show for himself. Honestly Disney buying WWE could even improve the storylines and product tbh and I’m deadass
What killed WWE isn't PG per se, since WWF was PG back in the early 90's when it was gaining popularity, but it's the same thing that has ruined all other forms of media: the financialization of the market. Opening up your business to Wall Street where huge shares of ownership can be bought and sold on speculation by people who have no interest in your product winds up tainting the product and losing significance. Normally, that would ruin most businesses, however, there has been so much consolidation that we no longer have a free market that is dictated by consumers, instead we have oligopolies where 3 or so corporations just trade consumers back and forth, you can see this with cable, phone plans, streaming sites and on and on and on. This is no longer the attitude era about competition, this is the conformity era about mediocrity.
24:50 - "If a wrestling company is owned by a corporation that gives no shit about wrestling..." Hold on... That's the case now! The history of WWE won't be removed because it can all be monetized!
People miss the fact that you can still have a great program without having to glorify the past every time. People have reasons to care about big stars like Roman Reigns because he is authentic.
For my old school wrestling fix, or just want to relieve the glory days, I watch OSW REVIEW. A group of guys chronology critic wrestling PPVs, as their episodes are 1.5 to 2 hrs long. And their commentary is HILARIOUS. They definitely sold me on Lex Luger aka Sexi Lexi and his selling🤣
The Storytelling and the Blood the Building up characters to mega stars is the downfall of WWE and the feuds energy But main thing for me is The Energy the Crowd is getting from a feud
Here's something that's really fucked up about the past dying. IDK when or why we decided to do that with all the censorship and the fading away of certain things, but you NEED the past in order to forge a brighter future. It's that old saying, "If you don't learn from the past, you're doomed to repeat it". So just because a recent event happened that was either good or bad, it doesn't mean that it was the first time ever. And also, we humans all have a death date. Don't know when, where, or how. So it's really important to not throw away or mistreat every single day we are allowed to live. So grow as human beings, think clearly and logically, love spiritually, and know that we are not here by accident. Because if that was the case, we would've died out a long time ago
"All of the above combined!" It started when they went PG! Right there and then the decline of WWE started! But it´s not only those "Business decisions" mentioned! If you listen to what is going on behind the curtain before the Show is getting on the way, Vince comes in and makes last minute changes! THAT is also killing the WWE Business! That AND Nick Khan releasing the biggest Stars on WWE (with Vince sanctioning those releases)! How do keep a Wrestling Company running, with existing matches and all, when you get rid of Stars who know how to work and make it exiting? Exactly, you don´t! You will only give the Fans one and the same matchup week after week after week after week which is culminating with the exact same match at a PPV! Vince´s thinking is still stuck in the 80s and early 90s and he is unable to adept to the 21st Century style of the Business! The only way that WWE could save itself would be if they would take a page of AEWs book and let the Wrestlers have creative freedom over their characters and let them work with Creative! Okay, you would have to get people in Creative who know about Wrestling and who know the Wrestlers (first of all the names of the Wrestlers)! You can bring in writers who can write as much as you like but if they have no idea about Wrestling and don´t even know the names of the Characters they are dealing with, that will bring "Storylines" who are way below anything anyone has seen in all the decades that we (the hardcore WWE Fans) watched this Brand! Everyone right now is basically praying each week that Vince will finally sell the Company to someone who knows what to do with WWE! But please don´t even think about selling it to Disney or Comcast! NBC. Hm! Maybe, but just maybe! The first thing tho to change something in WWE would be for Vince and Nick Khan to leave immediately! So, let us all pray that Vince and Nick will go away and on his way out Vince will sell the Company to someone who knows about Wrestling and that that investor will hire Triple H to run WWE! You can argue about the Character of Triple H but when it comes to Wrestling, he is the one who could really change it back to where Wrestling was good (just remember what Triple H accomplished with NXT (Black and Gold))! Ross, great Video as always! Stay safe and healthy! P.S.: Sorry for the long comment! It seems i can´t keep it short and sweet! ;)
@@jayanthony2414 Just read my comment again and...if you think i "said a lot of nothing"...YOU (probably) didn´t read the comment! I first thought "did i write something complicated or something that could be misinterpreted" but, no, it´s all there and all pretty clear! Please, tell me, how i "said mostly a bunch of nothing"! Maybe i can agree on that or maybe it just shows that you might didn´t really understand what i wrote and i can clear that up! Just a thought!
@@AlphaflyINXS Its the same simplistic nonsense that most of you clueless fans regurgitate the only thing credible was about Vince making changes on a whim but when you start by saying a rating change started the decline you loose all credibility
@@KickinitwithRoss the wrestling adds to the story, it’s supposed to serve as a climax or conclusion to the story told outside of the matches. That was the winners formula those eras you and I grew up on
@@Dabighomiee honestly y’all both are right. Wrestlers can tell a story within the match and the story makes you that much invested that’s why ricochet isn’t a top guy he can tell a story in the ring but not on the mic
I think you can say the decline is only seen in the product not the overall company. The company is making more money then it has ever been. And even with the decline of the actual shows, it's all pretty much subjective like all art and entertainment is. What someone finds interesting in wrestling may not be what someone else finds interesting (storylines/matches/entertainment/etc). All in all though, it's great to have a bigger alternative where people can choose what they want to check out. In terms of WWE and AEW, I see them getting massive new tv contracts in the coming years so they'll both be set for quite a while.
it's a mixture of them spoiling everything on social media(twitter and RUclips) which makes ppl feel like they don't really have to watch live, bad product, not as many ppl watch on TV anymore. Even tho the amount of people that actually watch WWE whenever seem to be high looking at subs and views, their LIVE viewers aren't high at all, because ppl don't care, except for SD, they're doing ok
Remember during the Monday night wars, Vince McMahon said he’s not in the wrestling business he’s in the entertainment business. So this isn’t surprising at all
To think that the company was literally dying like 10 years ago and now Vince is making more money than ever and WWE is still alive. Vince is 1 of the smartest and most intellectually agile CEO of all time. Can't lie, the WWE Network subscription service was absolutely ingenious. 👌🏾👌🏾 All PPV's and damn near ALL WWE AND WWF content ever made for like 9.99 month?!?! Absolutely game changing.
Ross: They're not gonna end the brand split WWE: Having a winner take all match between Brock and Roman for both belts It hurts to know that they are going with it
Vince McMahon is not selling WWE. This man is 3 quarters of a decade into his life, and has spent the past 40 of them running this company (in various forms, under various names). WWE is his favourite child, it's his masterpiece, his life's work. It is a well-documented fact that when it comes to making decisions for this company, Vince will listen to nobody NOT named Vincent Kennedy McMahon. If this man ever dies, and somebody else starts making decisions for the company, his ghost will tell God Almighty to kiss his billionaire ass and return to the Earth to haunt the dreams of that person to make sure they're doing what he would want. This company is his life. If he ever sells WWE, then... what's left? This is all he knows, this is all he's ever had.
honestly as some one who hasn't watched with any consistency in over 10 years, my opinion is it wasn't them going pg. Its their inability to generate new main stream guys. Add to that the fact that they consistently bury talent by feeding them to the top guy, it just makes the show uninteresting & boring to watch.
Just because WWE went PG doesn't mean it ruined it. We've seen proof that even in PG, WWE can still give us something very entertaining without all the blood or mature graphics that they showed before. It's just that Vince completely nosedived into what he thought was PG, but instead went to low to what can best be described as a show for toddlers who don't understand what's going on and just love what they see as it's new to them.
Imo the smarks & the internet ruin wrestling WWF/WWE was once bigger then life now it's just a** as shit. Only time I still watch it because of Roman, Brock, Lashley, Seth & etc. But I can barely watch an 1 hour of shitty RAW show.
I started watching wrestling at the very end of the attitude era, so most of my childhood was Ruthless aggression era. As a kid, i definitely had the opinion that wrestling got worse after the pg move. There were still good moments, but the product was never the same for me. I watched pro wrestling to see crazy bullshit happen, not to see programming for small children.
I think they might not be fierce enough to try something new. An idea they could do is have an undisputed champion that goes to both brands as well as have a main champion for each brand. The champion for each brand can challenge the undisputed champion after holding the championship for 6 months. That is something they could do and make the product even better. And when the champion of the brand challenges for the undisputed champion, they have to "cash in" their championship. The "cashed in" championship would then have a tournament to fill that role. The one who "cashes in" their championship cannot compete for any championship for a year.
You know what fam I would agree with that too but you know what it's all Vince McMahon bro even with the PG era look what triple h did with NXT he made it an awesome show hell it was right really it was rivaling wrong smackdown it was going to be the next it was going to be the third brand that's how good it f****** was you know what I mean now events just ruined WWE man he ruined it he destroyed it for everybody he didn't give none of the new talent a chance like they deserve he buried most of his best talent that we all lost and loved now they're all on aew thanks a lot for that Vince he just ran the company into the ground I'm telling you if he just steps down and back the hell off and let's triple h run it I promise you he'll make it great again man that's what we need we need better writers we need better things look what they're doing to the WWE yeah I like the statement with Bobby lashley and Brock Lesnar finally but that's not going to change anything that's not going to save it because you got the same people getting after the titles Big E deserved a better run he should be facing Brock Lesnar to be getting back his championship Finn Balor should be facing Roman reigns not f****** Goldberg Finn Balor deserves another shot because he was the first universal champion like these are people who are getting buried they deserve so much better and it pisses me off and it's not cool man look at poor Bianca Bel-Air now you got do drop what she ain't going to win pretty sure Becky Lynch is going to find a way to get her ass out of that one like it it's a sickens me bro because you got so much good talent and they're getting buried for no reason it's pretty s***** and it breaks my heart because this is the wrestling that me and of course I'm pretty sure a boy Ross we only know what it was about you know we grew up on this we grew up with the attitude ever in the Lutheran era like when wrestling was fun and beautiful man it was awesome I mean you couldn't even wait if you didn't have cable every Friday on UPenn 45 just to watch Friday night smackdown to see what Eddie was going to do while she next or the undertaker was going to f****** send somebody straight to hell or make them rest in peace you know what I mean or if you are I will go to my cousin's house cuz we didn't have cable and wait for sprite for Monday night wars to see stone cold so I can open a can of whoop that some people I have the rock lay the smackdown on anyone's candy ass you know like this is what we grew up loving and Vince ruined it Vince is what's wrong with the WWE people need to see that until he steps down it's just going to keep getting worse and their competitors like aew are going to start getting better and that's what I don't want and that's what's happening and sad to say it hurts to say but it's the truth
Real reason why WWE isn’t the same is simply because of fans Wrestling marks are too judgemental and as time went on people became too sensitive, being one of the reasons why it went PG These days when someone loses a match it’s considered as being “buried” yet look at legends like Randy Orton, Kane and Triple H who lost majority of matches in their careers yet they are the most popular When someone doesn’t win a championship it’s “bad” yet we have many legends who either didn’t hold titles or a few championships eg Rikishi having only one intercontinental championship but he is the legend Fans tend to nitpick on the simplest stuff like rebranding NXT and introducing young talent being labeled as a “horrible thing” and WWE releasing people they don’t need
I’m at a point where I almost don’t want the WWE to listen to the fans anymore and just go back to doing it their own way because of the points you just mentioned
@@Dabighomiee exactly bro I prefer WWE doing their own storylines I don’t mind watching that Wrestling fans will always bitch and moan about storylines they want, but if WWE doesn’t do it, they call WWE a piece of crap Look at how wrestling fans reacted when Jinder Mahal was the WWE champion…fans can be ridiculous 🤦♂️
PG wasn't the downfall of WWE. You can have good wrestling shows in PG. Fuck, look at what NXT was doing for years; it was as PG as the main roster, just better writing, and it was great. I can tell you the exact date the downfall of WWE started, though, and it was long before they went PG: March 23, 2001. It was never the PG that made WWE less good, it was never a lack of good talent, it was never becoming a publicly-traded company, it was never the steroid scare... it was the lack of competition. Vince McMahon no longer had a WCW to make him think, to make him push his product to be the best it could be. Vince slowly became complacent, out of touch, and aging has only made his sharp sense of 'what fans want' dull even further. Vince McMahon has a belief for what a wrestler should be, and none of the best guys in the modern day are like that - this isn't 1990, people don't wanna see bodybuilders throwing punches in the ring, they want actual wrestling. People don't want toilet humour, people don't want weak story with bad acting and non-finishes. It worked in the Attitude Era because fans back then were thirsty for edgy content (Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Rock made anything good by existing), but those days are gone; bringing back the Attitude Era would not save WWE now. What they need is good writing, good wrestling, and good storytelling. The best way to put it is this: Vince McMahon has not grown with the times, his mind is aging and it's making him worse at understanding how to make a wrestling show, and his product is a reflection of that. edit: Oh, and 3 hour RAW. 3 hour RAW is equivalent to stabbing yourself in the eye with a rusty spork. Drop the third hour for the love of Mick Foley and JBL and all the other wrestling GODS. You could argue that Vince chooses money over a good product, but that ties back into my argument. He would need a better product to make more money if there were other wrestling shows competing with RAW, because they would need people to want to watch RAW over that other product. Yeah, after having watched this whole video, I'm only more sure of my reasoning. If WWE's main shows had direct competition - and if people started watching that competition more than WWE - the investors would get angry. What's the solution to this problem? A better product. If you have a better product than the competition, more people will watch it. If more people watch your product, you make more money. Why do you think the best era in WWE history came when Ted Turner put Nitro on Monday nights?
1st I'd say it is the firings of wrestlers that they choose to hire for name value reasons if I am thinking on the whole aspect. It is sad to hear that they hired wrestlers in the NXT system to get ready for the Main Roaster only to flop on there. People like Malakai Black, Andrade, and Lio Rush are literally three guys that have youthful ages that could have been booked into positions that would have lasted them long-term in WWE given the proper build, feud, and timing. Vince in my mind sees wrestlers as extendable. He can just create wrestlers or bring in them however way he wants. (by contract at least.) 2nd Booking lacks guidance and relatable history to people and their own interests. There's no creative output as well make you believe that the wrestlers actually say this on daily basics to be invested in. (Modern-day aspect of wrestling i think is much better in AEW, Impact, and as well NJPW.). Jon Moxley for example had to be given a script which he always never liked in WWE. Promos are hard to come up with when the writers make them say whatever they want. Too much people in the creative room as well being to clustered up giving ideas to Vince which sucks. 3rd Backstage politics in wrestling is bad as well i would say is the worst in WWE and is starting in AEW as well with Cody as an example. Not wanting to turn heel being booed as a face. Most of the worst backstage politics is more heard from or pointed by Triple H i think when he was in that moment of being the so called "face of the company when he wasn't". There are wrestlers that fall to that as well like John Cena not wanting to put over guys such as Nexus as whole... 4th The historical events that took place back in the day. a) Chris Benoit double murder-suicide case b) Continuing a show when Own Hart died on the same show. c) The death of a reporter in Saudi. Yet WWE still went to the country which then made it look like they supported the idealism lead by the country and still go there to this day. (All for money) 5th Wrestlers who have had been given literally no care physically for their health. CM Punk who retired for about 7 years always shot on the idealism that they did there and their booking decisions.
I think a major reason is the story lines. If WWE gets there shit together and make solid story lines across all WWE shows, there ratings will sky rocket. Another thing I think WWE should consider doing is to push new superstars. WWE only has a handful of stars and in my opinion the Roman Reigns gimmick is starting to get a bit old. They need to find a a new star to beat Roman like they have with every other superstar in the past.
The target audience has changed. It's no longer catered to the people that have been watching since the 80's and 90's. Its catered to the children and also those children that haven't been born yet. That's why the business model of the WWE works. They change with the times, and family friendly programming is what sells now.
they started to cater too much to the vocal minority audience that wanted indie type wrestlers who do flips and kicks and put less focus on the storytelling aspect . Also the new guys have no character at all, they give themselves nicknames or gimmick but they don’t deliver on that character
once vince took the wwf public, i dont care what anybody says, that was the start of the decline. once vince had enough money to where the product could basically be on autopilot, the organic life and soul of the product died. its moments here and there and its not like they dont try at times, but now its all about the shareholders. vince answers to them not the fans.
No competition when they beat WCW and the PG era. What you say about vince is true, but it's a shame as he's only like this when he's the best with Noone else around. When he needs to he has shown he can get it done. When they had competition, the returns of wrestlers were major surprises. They made sure of it. The mid card division, the tag division, the women's division were STACKED with talent. And I don't mean employees, like now a days its stacked with wrestlers, which warrants brand splits.... But when all wrestlers were on both brands, if the rock got whipped on raw by triple H, I know I HAD to tune into smackdown rather than wait a week. The IC title meant something, it was normally a step up for stars who were going to be future world champions. The European title had meaning, hell the cruiserweight title had meaning. The hard-core/24/7 title was entertaining and top stars would also go for it from time to time. Theres so much more, from writers and creative being naturally more better, but also being pressured by competition to be more better. Even Russo as mad and bad as some of his ideas were, he was a genius in some ways. From the top down, from vince, to agents, to writers, to all wrestlers all the way to the bottom everything was just better. But it also had to be better, because of competition. As soon as there was nothing to worry about for 15 or so years they got too comfortable. The Fact TNA is the closest thing they've had to competition since WCW until AEW is shocking 🙈
I nee this point to be made. Vince Mcmahon doesnt want stars. The rock and stone cold leaving hurt vince and he has since never wanted another person like them. Imagine this the rock first run was shorter than 10 years. Vince want people only loyal to him.
actually The Rock was loyal to him. WWE intentionally didn't sign re sign his contract, leading to him going to Hollywood full time. WWE and Vince screwed Dwayne over.
@@x-man9473 in vince eyes he wasnt loyal. He was becoming more unavailable. So he got petty and didnt resign him. I think in my heart he was betting on him failing as an actor.
Yes, Vince McMan Happened! Money Greed over Talent. Like you said as long as it’s good with USA and FoX it’s Fine in Vince Mind. They don’t understand nor do they care that’s the Real Reason WWE is Falling and Losing Viewers.
I have to disagree. 3 hours of RAW wouldn't matter if the show was consistent and good. But that's not the case. Instead we have 3 hours of mediocre to awful sports entertainment. It's not like the first two hours are excellent and the last one is awful. Most times every hour is mediocre or crappy.
But it’s crazy because people were complaining about pg now but when it wasn’t oh they were complaining about which doesn’t make sense because now that u got what u want u don’t like it
I agree with Ross and that guy but one thing he needs to understand now is that that's what's happening yeah they're going to make money no matter what but that doesn't mean that they can't make the story lines and make it wrestling again because remember every wrestler that they're releasing in every friend that they're losing they're all tuning into aew that's a bad sign for god sakes what look it up I think last year and this past month aew's ratings are a lot higher than smackdown and Ross and their tickets to their shows to have any events out sold WWE's Vince is not going to admit that but it's true yeah of course he shot fire saying oh Tony's buying his tickets but he's not this is the thing that Vince needs to realize yeah you're going to make money no matter what but if you don't get the fence what they want doesn't matter how much money you make they're going to start watching the show they're going to get bored with it and then little by little by little nose and watch it and not even roaming or Brock will be able to save that hell you can bring back the Rock at SummerSlam and that wouldn't even say that because he's so busy now the man's the movies the man's a f****** Rockstar he got sweat that freaking Jumanji part 4 coming up he got Black Adam coming up like he's so busy so not even a great one would be able to save WWE and that's what's sad is that you shouldn't need to bring back these Legends when you have so much great amazing talent right now that can make the WWE good to people want to see like Big E Langston My boy Bobby Finn Balor Kevin Owens Drew McIntyre people who deserved a better run than what they got in the WWE Randy Orton and edge deserves so much better I'm sorry these are two legends multiple time champions and they're stuck in a stupid ass statement one is stuck with Maurice in The Miz which is trash I'm sorry that is the trash ass story Beth and edge dessert better than that and don't get me started with Randy and that idiot he deserves better than that too this is the viper for god sakes The legend killer and he's reduced doing this b******* that's what I'm talking about they should be using them to make these new stars bigger and better that's the point that's what aew does they have the old they have large Superstars but they're making their stars come up to life they're giving the fans what they want what they want to see they're giving us real wrestling Vince is not doing that so no matter how much money you make with the network once they stop watching that and go to another promotion you're f***** either way so it doesn't matter hence why CM punk and his pipe bomb said this is why he's a millionaire not a billionaire and that's facts
That's nonsense they aren't doing anything they weren't doing before whats improved is their booking decisions and the likes of Roman reigns have finally been let off the leash and their booking atleast their top guys right
What do y’all feel is the real reason for the decline in WWE viewership?
Every tv show loose viewers.
Fans became too smart to the business, and way too fickle
Always expecting wrestlemAnia quality matches
And wanting no one now to be jobbers, unfortunately you need jobbers to sell moves to make them look special, and the best sellers at the moment are Ricochet and exavier woods
The Storytelling and the Blood the Building up characters to mega stars is the downfall of WWE and the feuds energy
Yep your after your first-line no more was needed videos end damn u Vince lol 😆
Going PG, too predictable, worse storylines.
No blood, no realism, no pyro, no passion, no enthusiasm, no more pure wrestlers like Benoit and Angle, and not same level of talent.
Some of those “Kurt angles’ and Benoit “are there but they don’t want to push them anymore
It's not even about blood or realism. The product is just not entertaining period. They don't need blood or a sense of realism to get good ratings, they just need really good storylines told through wrestling and promos and they'll be good and they got lazy with that.
🤦🏽 You people just say anything
I disagree with the talent thing. These divas now days?!? Athletically and in ring, they blow the last generations of divas out the water. Like it ain't even close. Also guys like Sammy Zayne, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Kofi, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens... All those guys are GREAT in ring talents. Their story lines were just poorly managed.
Exactly
Wtf 🤦🏽 the irony your here acting like you know better but have said some absolute nonsense in this comment
Well said 💯
I'm so happy I grew up watching early 2000s wwe it was glorious
I'm glad I watched WCW 96 to 99, then WWF 99 to 06, those were the best times to be a fan.

I'm always amazed when people blame the PG rating for the problems with WWE today. The WWF was PG in the 1980s, and yet they had no problem getting people to watch their shows on TV, attend their live events, and buy their PPVs. Blame Vince for not giving a damn anymore, not the rating.
Someone needs to tell him that if u turn your back on the thing which made u successful it will eventually come circle and kill your success..

The internet/social median not only fucked wwe up it fucked wrestling up for all…
Vince started to care about the money and not the product
Profits Over Product or Profits Over People.
Big facts 💯 u could it say it any better
He always been like that
You “wrestling” fans in these comments need to understand, the in ring action is not entertaining when these guys don’t make it realistic. These guys don’t know how to look fatigued or hurt, they don’t know how to implement the psychology aspect the same way the wrestlers used to . Some guys like Roman Reigns and Randy Orton Edge etc get it . The rest of the roster does not
You right mahn
Agreed 😢
It's not the wrestlers - it's the company. Everything they do is micromanaged. Wrestlers didn't just stop being talented.
@@quntface1518 I mean blaming the company is an obvious, we’ve been doing that, but the talent needs to take some responsibly as well. Some of these guys have been in the company for over 5 years and still can’t sell a good match or work the mic halfway decent
@@quntface1518 It is the wrestlers though do your research
The decline just so happened to coincide with the rise of the smart marks(neckbeards)
People became complacent and due to constantly wanting wrestlemAnia quality matches made the long and special matches less special

HHH - 8 years

Fully agree
They want every wrestler to be Benoit, Punk, and Bryan
Look at the wrestlers he had when he was speaking of the past generations.. everyone of them stood out , were different sizes and wrestled different, plus they all told great stories in the ring and promos so they all stood out
If everyone is doing suicide dives, Flips and kicks and having a ppv type of matches on tv where people are kicking out or finishers for a "shock reaction" pop , it means NOTHING to casual fans
I remember when Zack Ryder won the ic title at WrestleMania only to lose it The Miz on a televised raw, nothing against miz he's an awesome heel, that is bad booking, they've done this several times over the past years, why would anyone spend $50 bucks for a ppv just to see the same match on tv?
As mentioned we can complain all we want but both Aew and the WWE are still making money by their sponsors and tv deals so they're not going to change
What really overall ruined the WWE was becoming a publicly owned product, that means they're getting paid no matter what they put out on tv
Vince McMahon changed to the attitude era because he privately owned and was losing money, that's the Truth
This explains recent “budget cuts” 🙄🤦🏾♂️
And Because of Technology kfabe is pretty much dead
It's called nostalgia people always forget that in real time it's very different now that's not to say it wasn't overall better but it certainly wasn't perfect and it certainly didn't please everyone or was without controversy or complaint
To be honest I just stop watching it altogether even NXT when it become 2.0 I just basically watch the results on youtube or on the wwe website. I wish I had an answer about the decline WWE is having because this person's video pretty much explains it.
Attitude Era was lit!!! 🔥💯🤣
Yeah I really agree with you they have the talent well had the talent lol but they just push the same people over and over again and people they called up from nxt just tanked they didn’t even know how to utilize them which made fans give up on them
I personally think The Chris Benoit situation what really messed up WWE.

Vince has the type of ego where he would rather wwe die with him than prosper without him.
If the brand split ended, WWE would be even worse. Same matches on both shows... big oof. 2013-2015 was god awful with no brand split.
1997 and 2002 Attitude Era Was Lit ya can't not said that as wrestling Fans
Ross should be working at WWE headquarters he got me thinking skill then them 😈💯
Facts WWE should hire Ross A$AP! Ross knows his shits
8.1 million. Fuck that’s the population of a whole ass state
I know of tons of people that love ruthless aggression over attitude era, by a LONG SHOT! Have to take in whatever era you grew up with!!!
'If you watch main event, please seek medical attention'😂😂😂😂
They thought when WCW closed its doors that people would automatically tune into Raw but they didn’t. They watched other programs.
The Storytelling and the Blood the Building up characters to mega stars is the downfall of WWE and the feuds energy
But main thing for me is The Energy the Crowd is getting from a feud
The decline of WWE started when all the edgy, ruthless agression era ended and they turned into a show for children
Business aside, networks aside, the Brand Split cannot happen as we know that WWE cannot focus on both shows creatively
That shoe collection is awesome
"All of the above combined!"
It started when they went PG!

Honestly Linda shouldn't have gotten any heat from it being a TV 14 product that's dumb if she did honestly
PG definitely killed it but Ross you're definitely right with what you said about NXT also I didn't know that Rumble movie was made by them

Love you ross
Crazy I could read the rock's lips about Kurt Angle drinking milk and taking 4 viagra lmao
Nothing will change until the Money dries up

Real reason why WWE isn’t the same is simply because of fans
Wrestling marks are too judgemental and as time went on people became too sensitive, being one of the reasons why it went PG
These days when someone loses a match it’s considered as being “buried” yet look at legends like Randy Orton, Kane and Triple H who lost majority of matches in their careers yet they are the most popular
When someone doesn’t win a championship it’s “bad” yet we have many legends who either didn’t hold titles or a few championships eg Rikishi having only one intercontinental championship but he is the legend
Fans tend to nitpick on the simplest stuff like rebranding NXT and introducing young talent being labeled as a “horrible thing” and WWE releasing people they don’t need
I’m at a point where I almost don’t want the WWE to listen to the fans anymore and just go back to doing it their own way because of the points you just mentioned
@@Dabighomiee exactly bro

Ha! I watched that video yesterday.
Interesting video.
(by contract at least.)
2nd Booking lacks guidance and relatable history to people and their own interests.
4th The historical events that took place back in the day.
a) Chris Benoit double murder-suicide case
b) Continuing a show when Own Hart died on the same show.
c) The death of a reporter in Saudi. Yet WWE still went to the country which then made it look like they supported the idealism lead by the country and still go there to this day. (All for money)
5th Wrestlers who have had been given literally no care physically for their health. CM Punk who retired for about 7 years always shot on the idealism that they did there and their booking decisions.
I really hope whenever their deal with USA ends the put raw on fox and put nxt back in the network
When they Change the Gimmick of My Girl Nikki Cross i lost it , i got a Hug from her and now seeing her as a almost superhero is dumb
What a load of bollocks you people love to just throwout the same tired shit whether it makes sense or not
Karens ruined WWE
Hey you should make a video about WWE is reportedly bringing the Elimination chamber to Saudi Arabia next month
they started to cater too much to the vocal minority audience that wanted indie type wrestlers who do flips and kicks and put less focus on the storytelling aspect . Also the new guys have no character at all, they give themselves nicknames or gimmick but they don’t deliver on that character
Took the words right out my mouth
Fans want a wrestler to be power bombed 9 times just to lose to a roll up lmao.
@@puppetsmark3543 straight tf up 😂😂😂 makes no sense
once vince took the wwf public, i dont care what anybody says, that was the start of the decline. once vince had enough money to where the product could basically be on autopilot, the organic life and soul of the product died. its moments here and there and its not like they dont try at times, but now its all about the shareholders. vince answers to them not the fans.
Off topic but does anyone remember the name of that game at 4:05 used to love playing that game as a kid lmao
It’s WWE Plug N’ Play as far as I remember. I remember seeing this back then too but I never owned it.
That's Why AEW is on the rise. It's the unfiltered Content We All Loved
FACTS
That why I like aew their pure with good promos as well as the wrestlers matt hardy cm punk Chris jerico Jon moxley and so much more.
I nee this point to be made. Vince Mcmahon doesnt want stars. The rock and stone cold leaving hurt vince and he has since never wanted another person like them. Imagine this the rock first run was shorter than 10 years. Vince want people only loyal to him.
🤔
actually The Rock was loyal to him.
The booking and writing went to shit and the internet destroyed wrestling
Yes, Vince McMan Happened! Money Greed over Talent. Like you said as long as it’s good with USA and FoX it’s Fine in Vince Mind. They don’t understand nor do they care that’s the Real Reason WWE is Falling and Losing Viewers.
I fucks with the shirt Ross
I also think they're getting ready to buy tna, hence the releases.
i used to be nelson home , that mess is a joke
I have to disagree. 3 hours of RAW wouldn't matter if the show was consistent and good. But that's not the case. Instead we have 3 hours of mediocre to awful sports entertainment. It's not like the first two hours are excellent and the last one is awful. Most times every hour is mediocre or crappy.
FFS 🤦🏽 I'm convinced you people are simple
@@jayanthony2414 I'd like to know what you mean by "you people"? Who are you referring to? 🤔
I think wwe is slowly getting its popularity back by making things less PG with its new era
That's nonsense they aren't doing anything they weren't doing before whats improved is their booking decisions and the likes of Roman reigns have finally been let off the leash and their booking atleast their top guys right
@@jayanthony2414 I think that what i was trying to say.
👍
I can't wait to see vinnie when his company will fail to make money cause viewership is gonna decline, below 1 million mark
Roman Reigns is the only thing saving WWE
And he is leaving in 4-5 years😬
You should Check out the alpha male Monty Brown
Look at the Star Wars franchise.
WWE sucks nowadays. I just don't watch anymore.
