I think ring cameras should have an optional voice changer for the speaker, so the person outside doesn't know if he's talking to a woman, kid, grandma, etc. --- just another layer of protection.

I'm in St. Paul Minnesota and I'm sad to say that I was a victim of a porch pirate on yesterday. It was a package for my daughter's 2nd birthday and someone opened the box, took the stuff out and left the box behind. Sad sad world we live in

I saw the person in the truck just pass by the man on top of the car. They could have beeped their horn to try and scare the dogs away so that maybe the guy could have gotten inside. I would have. People don't care. They were safe in their truck.

After my grandfathers wake me and my family went to a bar. We left the car there and got a ride home, it was only a couple blocks. Anyway, I heard noise at my back door, peeped out the window and saw a guy wearing all black with his hood up. So I grabbed a knife and swung the door open. He was so shocked how fast I grabbed his shirt and put the knife to his neck. I didn’t cut him, but I did take his wallet and told him ‘Now I know who you are and where you live.’ I won that one! I would’ve just yelled through the door any other day, but I needed to know who he was because he must’ve thought we were all still at the bar after the wake which means he knows my family or someone that knows me, maybe even someone I’m friendly with sent him cuz we didn’t put my grandfathers death in the obituaries nor did we put it on Facebook or anything. Which people need to stop telling the whole world through social media where they are, when they’re not home and uploading vacation pics while your still on vacation. I never could connect the guy trying to break in my house that night with anyone I knew. Stay safe people!

Except when you're on the car. Dogs sounded vicious. People get killed or seriously injured sometimes. A postal worker was killed this week by 3 or 4 pitbulls. Tragic. If you can't be a responsible pet owner, don't get one.
Two things...first why didnt he jump in the car instead of on top when he saw the dogs coming? The car door was wide open. Second, when that truck passed why didnt he flag it down and ask for help. Some times just blowing a horn can frighten dogs away. I guess I'll never know the answers to these vexing questions🤔😒🤭
I'm getting our FedX, Amazon, UPS, and mailman something for Xmas this year. Just never realized how lucky we are to have delivery people that look out for their customers. They put packages instead screen door and knock on it, and shout PACKAGE! Amazon needs to do a better screening process!😁
I agree but they contract out the drivers and some are thieves and might have criminal records.
This is why I stopped my subscription to Walmart for food deliveries. They had third party delivery people and groceries started coming up missing but my receipt showed them fulfilled. I just do pick up now. Too many shady people doing these deliveries. I just hope that homeowner sent the tape to Amazon so she she got fired. Putting it on RUclips isn’t enough.

My postal worker always puts my stuff in my lock box I made for deliveries.
The Amazon drivers do it "most" of the time, but frequently put in _on_ or _next_ to the box and even take a picture of their ineptitude.

We just bought the WYZE video camera/floodlight and I must say, the clarity of the video and sound, it's a really great alternative to this. You won't be disappointed
I have a handful of Wyze cams around my place (mostly for the chickens and bird feeder and one for porch). I leave a little basket of goodies for the delivery people, thanking them and telling them to have some. They like that. Just today the FedEx guy came when I was outside and said he really appreciated it.

@@momma2thewilds88 - Yes, I had thought about the doorbell cams but opted for the moveable Wyze cams. They have a magnet on the bottom so I can move my back porch on between the porch and back yard in 15 seconds. I'm out in the country and don't get visitors. I also like that it only costs $20. per year for the cloud service.

Get you a mailbox that locks . My father never let any mail or packages come to our house ,we had a P.O. box . My father was right so many years ago. I have my suspicion that one of my mail carriers opened a package of mine. People do not typically take one item and leave the rest, they usually take the entire package that is why I think it was done by a postal person . I told my mail carrier if this happens again that the police would be involved next time and so far it has not happened again. Some one needs to design a box that only the post office and other delivery people can open like with an app. for large packages .We have packages delivered to our work . If you have a job that would permit that it is a safer way to keep packages from being stolen.🤔

Yeah, but you think maybe the mail carrier stole part of your package. A locked box wouldn't cure that. They would do the same thing before they put it in the lock box.
Years ago I got a PO box as I noticed my mail had been tampered with or didn't show up at all. Then when I had the PO box I noticed mail was very late and one day had been steamed open. I confronted the post office owner and he said it must of been the rain, we had been in a bad drought for months and no rain. I wouldn't let it go and he finally admitted someone must of had a master key for boxes and was taking mail. I'd heard a few businesses had cheques stolen and the amounts changed. They went through all my mail during that time and I got a call one night from a guy saying he was from my bank and he needed information to confirm its me. I said you rang me and if your from the bank you would have my information. He said I'll put my supervisor on. I said ok. He tried getting info too I said No. He got mad, I said I'm not telling you anything, they must of needed just a little bit more info to steal my identity. I went to the bank the next day and they said they never call at home.
I reported it to the bank and police but they said nothing can be done till something actually happens. The policeman said he would ring and give me a number to call, but he never rang. Now most important mail like car rego,bills etc is emailed.
Pay attention to when your mail has been posted to when you receive it as that's how mine started, being late, then being opened.
I've had really stupid or lazy delivery drivers deliver my package to other units in my building (they can't read) or dump it out front. We can redirect packages to any post office or parcel lockers through an app. I do that if I'm not home for delivery.
Legend says the guy is still on the top of the car till this day.
I'll never understand why people use machines (or are allowed to) without knowing the basics of throttle/gas and BRAKES. Really??? I have all kinds of motorized equipment and motorcycle license and have never run into or over anything.
In Texas, you don't even need to take an actual driving test most of the time to get a license.

Anyone can be a theft. I remember when my paystubs were being mailed to me for years, then all of a sudden I didn't get one for a month straight. I changed the mailing address to my PO Box. Someone either thought they were live checked or wanted my pay info. Best thing any of us can do is to not ignore anything. Amazon packages, I have them go to a locker location. Simple as that. Being a woman... I never leave home without 2 weapons. ⚠️⚠️

@@Hava_Hadi its a small investment if you consider it not only improves security around your home it also provides proof footage IF something ever happened and on top of that you dont have to answer the door if you do not want to and use the onboard PA system.
Vehicle plates should be on the front and back, so these porch pirates and other criminals can be seen on camera easier.
What we need is some kind of way to keep our package safe from the porch pirate like giant mouse traps hidden on the box. LOL. 🤣😂

I was taking care of some neighbor's pets across the street. I saw the Amazon truck up the street and figured they were dropping off my package (some cheap silicone caps for the long reach tool I use to break into cars). After refilling the dogs' water and food I stepped out of the neighbor's house as the Amazon truck rolled on up the street having dropped my package. Immediately behind them was a car, passenger door already open. A dude ran up my sidewalk, grabbed the package at the door, and turned around in time to see their buddy speeding off sans a window which just took the butt of my sidearm.
Unfortunately for them there's only one way in and out of my subdivision so all I had to do was wait, with the runner on his knees dead smack in the middle of the street, gun to his head. A few neighbors came out, a few cars stopped, questions were asked. When they discovered I was holding a terrified, blubbering porch pirate in the middle of the street violence almost ensued. Many weapons were brandished.
The car was abandoned in someone's back yard when it ended up in a drainage ditch. More than a dozen packages, in various states of open, were found in the middle of a culdesac at the end of the subdivision... by the Amazon driver! He couldn't get past the mob when he came back through and I thought he was going to put the pirate in the hospital he was so pissed.
Police found it absolutely HILARIOUS - once they had convinced the gun owners, bat and crowbar holders, and other armed and angry residents to put their weapons away.
The car was registered to porch pirate's girlfriend. Both are now locked up being charged with hundreds of thefts (as determined by what was found in their 'efficiency hotel' room), felony grand larceny.

There's a UPS driver in my town that goes to a local park and meets up with a dude taking things out of his truck. I've called the cops but they didn't do anything.

To the owner of the dogs - if your dogs are threatening, they get shot. Keep em in your house if you don't want to lose them. I love Pits, but am smart enough to keep em locked up so people won't get hurt or accidentally attacked. I am sure you have never had an incident, but let's hope you never do either.

Just so you know, the Amazon contractors where I live take pictures of their deliveries when they leave them at my door. Then they send a message to me with the picture attached. Walmart does the same. Both also do this if they leave a package (s) in the front lobby.

Many of them do that, and then steal the package, making the customer believe it was some other porch pirate. Not all of them do it, but there are enough who do, so you need to be careful and vigilant.
In regards to the two dumb dogs, there's a reason why I keep my hose outside. Or, as was the case a few weeks ago, a power washer (which I used on a pit bull that was lose on the streets) this is why I hate pits, though to be fair, they aren't the only dogs that get loose and do this.
