  • Ernie Kovacs and wife Edie Adams appear as guest panelists on a 1956 episode of "I've Got a Secret" with regular panelists Bill Cullen and Faye Emerson, and host Don McNeill substituting for vacationing Garry Moore.
This is Part 2 of 2. The first game of this segment features contestant Mary Warriner of Tenafly, New Jersey, who in her secret claims to be "a direct descendant of Lady Godiva". I would be skeptical of a claim like that, but I'm not a genealogy guy, and there are lists of descendant data all over the Web, so I dunno. Maybe.
The second game, unusually silly even by IGAS/Allan Sherman standards, features actress Sheree North in a swimsuit covering a prone Don McNeill with beach sand while the blindfolded panelists try to figure out what's going on.
Part 1 of this program, featuring a man who can play five instruments at one time, can be found here: • Ernie Kovacs and Edie ...

Oh, I bet the missing regulars were kicking themselves that they missed this one (expect maybe Garry). Brilliant and spontaneous. I love the Kovacs!!!

I love the old shows but THROWING sand ALL OVER HE STUDIO??!!! All over the audio and video crew and equipment?? (unless the equipment were just props for this episode?) It's surprising to me that they would do that, otherwise!

    8:14 mmmmm nice.
And it's good that Ernie stayed out of it. No telling what would have happened otherwise.

Wow, Faye really got right in there in her gown, etc lol! Not afraid to get dirty; Bill, on the other hand did not look like he wanted one grain of sand on him!

Bill Cullen was quite disabled, both from polio and a bad car accident. He could barely walk, let alone get on his hands and knees to shovel sand.

@moontheloon5 I don’t think it was an indication that Bill Cullen did not want to participate but rather that he could participate in a limited basis. Notice he is holding onto the physical panel to keep his balance… That is due to his limbs being crippled by polio.

8:27 --- I'm all but sure that it was for the purpose of entertainment...
Nevertheless, she DID insinuate that (when she was a little girl at the beach) she poured sand over her uncle while he was naked.
Wow! 'Talk about a joke that wouldn't fly today!

Really cringed when Faye started throwing sand. I put my brother in the hospital for a week when we were 5-6 after i chucked a handful of sand into his face and a bunch got in his eyes. All in good fun, but could have ended badly for someone.

What happened to your brother is extremely unusual, you don't have to have an irrational deathly fear of a little sand. Yours was probably sand from a sandbox that a cat's been pissing in for weeks.

Don Mc Neill , the guest host was a radio vetaran . Dig that voice of his ! He hosted The Breakfast Club radio program from Chicago for over 35 years , from 1933 to 1968 . This was longer than Carson hosted The Tonight Show or Barker hosted The Price Is Right on television . His programs were broadcast by the NBC Blue and its successor the ABC radio networks . He was considered at one time a midwest competitor to morning radio heavywright Arthur Godfrey .en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_McNeill_(radio_presenter)#:~:text=From-,Wikipedia,-%2C%20the%20free%20encyclopedia

Reply to my own comment . I felt sorry for Mr Mc Neill and the sand stunt . They should waited for GM to return since he could handed impromto situations like that . Mc Neill did not give heed to the time limit with the program ending with the title card . To be fair his long time program was more sedate. Moore and later Johnny Carson were good at handling stunts and demonstartions and improvised material .
