Such a beautiful well built home on a nice sized lot of land. I was sold on the curb appeal, entry way, structure, flooring etc. The old style in modern day design throughout the home is gorgeous IMO. Drawback: houses of this stature should never have tub/shower combos. Instead install stand-alone showers with jacuzzi tub in the master suite. Toilet/bidet rooms placed inside each room and 1 spare in the guest powder room. Basically rooms should mimic the master suite as mini-suites. This house is worth every penny ($1.9M) I would definitely buy it! 👍
Oh my goodness! What a beautiful home! What's not to love!? The only changes I would make would be to add a pool and Jacuzzi to that huge back yard space and upgrade/renovate the patio/lanai areas.
This is my first time commenting even though I have been watching you for quite some time and ususally I am right along with you snickering at the odd things that ppl add to their houses, BUT, Jonathan, this time I could not find ANYTHING to snicker about. I love love love this house. It gives new house with an old style and it has personality plus. I just love all of the credenzas and china cabinets, and the guest bathroom downstairs with the glass sink was simply adorable. The fixtures, cabinets, and all the added features give THIS HOUSE an elegant feel and if I was in the market, I would definitel buy this lovely beau-ti-ful house. This house is nothing to snicker at. Love your show Jonathan, keep'em coming. ❤❤❤
Oh I love so much about that house. You keep saying “dated”. Somethings are “timeless”. Those cabinets look custom made with the wood carvings and those were not “dishes”, looked like fine china to me. The layout of the house is fantastic! Love the elegant staircase in the entryway. That was the “mudroom” with the shoes and 1/2 bath. This house reminds me of an estate or executive home. It would be perfect had the doors , trim, etc, matched the floors, nothing bears the rich feel of hardwood floors, doors. Trim etc. All of the sunrooms are exquisite. Love all the windows and natural light in the home. Boy all the repetitive words “old, dated”. I would definitely purchase it to live and raise a family in. It’s a beautiful, well appointed home.
I love the house! It can easily be updated with some paint and updated furniture. The home is a traditional home. The decor is very expensive stuff and beautiful. I would get rid of the star
I like the home, though I don’t like the decor. I don’t like the star, but it wouldn’t keep me from buying. It’s a pretty nice house. It doesn’t read as old to me, excluding the furniture.
The house screams "Old Money"! I love the style updated with modern finishes and touches. A pkg deal of house and furnishings I'm in at about $3.8MM. Considering the current market decline about $2.9MM-$3.1MM. The basement bedroom appears to have been a possible weight room. 👍🏾I didn't catch the location. Edited...Good grief! I've been in overpriced TX too long! $2MM everything included.😊
I absolutely love this house. Just a few minor changes. The floors are beautiful. The entry star flooring I would remove. Love the ceilings and the accent color. The decor is giving eclectic vibes. Loved the kitchen cabinets. Hated the green marble island and back splash in the kitchen. Love the sun room in the master bedroom. Love it! Would buy for my main home
Half-way through the video and I must say, as a senior citizen, I liked much of what you called old/dated; what you described as dramatic I said was impressive. Admittedly, younger clients would feel they stepped out a time machine several decades in the past. Although I appreciate the nostalgia, I would advocate modernizing the decor…a lot!
It's very European and traditionalist, to me, and I love the antiques and wide upholstered chairs, even though I'm not buying the furniture. I'd choose this over most of your other recent houses any day of the week.
This is a beautiful traditional home. I love the grand entry and would probably put an Oriental rug to cover the star. I think the rooms are all beautiful, but I would choose different styles of furniture for areas such as the great room and sun rooms. I love all the space in the home and the back yard is beautiful. The neighborhood is very beautiful with all of the other large homes and all of the trees. I have to say this is one of my favorite homes so far. There are not too many things that I would change inside the house.
The star was fine. The wooden floors are of such excellent quality ~~ super nice!! The entryway mirror was beautiful. Loved the curtains!! Kitchen was superb!! Some of the features (1st. powder room) seem to be "too modern" mixed in with this more conservative home and decor. Really nice yard. Most of the decorations were appropriate for this beautiful, grand home.
I enjoyed your tour and am actually experienced with marketing and design in Northern Virginia, McLean, DC, Fairfax, Loudoun, etc. This is not a criticism, it's simply some advice that will improve your tours, by using the correct descriptions. Replace it with "classic", "vintage", "refined", "esquire", "formal" or even "sophisticated"; but not "older" which automatically means, obsolete. A lot of buyers would love the style as shown, but I agreed with everything you said in general conversation; it could be very close to being a bit overwhelming. So often, realtors will suggest softening the decor to a more neutral theme; however, that might insult the seller when they think about how much it cost to paint that coffered ceiling in the two story great room. Plus, in Northern Virginia, it is not an "office" (which is usually found on the lower level), not a "study" (unless it's adjacent to the kid's bedrooms), it IS the "library" which is usually near the foyer and is considered one of the formal rooms (a show-off room) it is more often used like a trophy room with diplomas, awards, ribbons, golf trophies, and a focal point desk. It's not really designed for paper work, printers, wires, and files; but might be used as a impressive background when conducting virtual meetings. Also another hint that will come up in Northern Va, DC, Md, IS remember this one: when you see "shire", such as a model home name, street, or neighborhood such as "Devonshire", or the town next to Manassas known as "Yorkshire" (which by the way, a lot of residents in Yorkshire pronounce their town's name the wrong way) Remember this: pronouncing this as "sh-EYE-er" is the wrong way to pronounce it. It actually will show that you are uneducated and not well traveled. By saying "she-eeer" it shows a respect and knowledge for the proper English Language and its heritage (lessons I have learned the hard way, writing many ads). One more, An arched focal point window found on so many NOVA Colonials is a Palladia 'N" : "Palladian" meaning an architectural style window from Italy. 👍 That's my style. All my furniture would go perfect with this. It's traditional. LOVE those cherrywood floors. Somebody must have been playing with that jacuzzi bath tub & didn't bother to rinse it out. Yay you didn't turn on that master suite shower.
That's a gorgeous house, love the star floor. I usually like contemporary decor, but I'm in love with that decor from top to bottom, it says the person who lives there has class and money.
Love the star but the stark white tile has got to go!!! See, I’m with your wife on the foyer’, boom ta da Overwhelmingly unwelcoming and creates a bizarre energy! It NEEDS a warm wood around it to offset the stone and colors. The home is beautiful, and I agree with you on the ‘decor’! Staging by GREAT gramma? not just gramma🤣
Absolutely love the house. It’s very traditional and I love the antiques. The star in the entry hall is fine. Not my taste but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to change it. Nothing wrong with this house at all. Love the Venetian mirrors in the main bathroom. I have one in my office at home.
If you love antiques you would appreciate the furnishings and decorations! This custom built house covers all the basis for the past or original owner, including additional areas for preparations of meals for guest. Two half baths would accommodate service staff and guests. A closet for shoes near the garage to take off street/garden shoes etc. A lot of thought went into the design of this house based on the original owners life style. Beautiful home inside and out. I feel like the original owner was well traveled and possible entertained a lot. Thanks for sharing this beautiful home.
I think with this house it is easy to look beyond decor to make a decision. I can see a potential buyer probably talking about the changes they’d like to make as they’re walking through the house.
👍I love this home. From what I am seeing with the trending in Interior Design, this home is an interior designers dream. What you are calling " dated" is seen by me as "charming", and is highly valued, such as the crown molding, french doors detailed wood. Indeed the home has a what you call "specific" look and designers would say it is an "intentional" look. My only issue is the home is way too big for me. It is a beautiful home. I'm not a fan of the star - it's giving compass (North, South, East and West).
Gorgeous grand house with tons of character❤❤❤ not cookie cutter like every other house that they are building nowadays. I love all the fixtures and arches and floor stencil. The window pane windows and so much more! Totally my vibe and reminds me a lot of my house, just a lot bigger than mine❤❤❤❤❤
It feels like retirement and the grandkids are coming to visit. It feels like a forever home that you most likely have in your late 50s and you’re an empty nester. You’ve acquired beautiful things along the way but you’re ready to downsize. Wait I think I’m talking about the sellers not the buyer. 😂😂😂 It may need to appeal to the buyers not to sellers. I’m not a realtor but I would say to remove furniture and items so that people can imagine themselves in the home.
👍🏾 #227 Beautiful, nice, huge inside and outside. New home owner has minimal upgrades, then perfect. I really like it. Price is too expensive for what you get. Needs two more bedrooms and two more garage space. Thanks for sharing another awesome home.
By the looks of the furnishings, it's obvious the previous owners are older and well to do, some of the rooms feel unconnected and a bit random but nevertheless charming, if the buyer doesn't like the decor, it would be a huge investment and upgrade. The front of the home looked a bit busy with a random choice of plants, again nevertheless a beautiful home with a ton of potential! I thought the cost would be higher! I like it! 🤑
Well, my colleague and I enjoy watching these videos. We talk about what we like, the price, location, reactions etc. We both agreed that it’s a classic home that was well maintained. It is also the kind of house that most kids kind of fear because their parents don’t want them to touch anything. I often wonder who lives in certain houses. Based on the decor, it likely belonged to an older couple, without children (or much older children who live far away). As someone mentioned in the comments, it could have belonged to a Jewish family who observe dietary laws and conditions, which require meat and dairy separate, hence the two kitchen areas. They likely enjoyed reading and didn’t watch much television. However, the bar kind of threw us off because the house felt very prim and conservative. The possibilities are endless. Regardless of who they are, it is a beautiful home, and I hope they lived a fulfilling life.
Tuscan kitchen? Enough room to house a village? McMansion vibes? Check and just ick. I like you, Jonathon, and my vote really doesn't count since I live in Colorado. Thank you !
I would absolutely buy this house. I would invest about $150K in the right furniture and change all of the counter tops in the kitchen. I would redesign the prep kitchen. That house looks solid. It just need some 2024 love.
I like this house. I don't particularly care for the furniture, but the kitchen design I like. I love the floors. It can be modernized with furniture, lighting, and artwork. I like it.
Jonathan sure can miss a room(10:04/11:37)... or 2(15:59)... or 3(21:58)😏‼️ 😂 I like this house because I prefer a more traditional home. The star in the foyer is fine. A lot of the more modern contemporary homes of today are a dime a dozen, even though I believe this home was no different when it was built.
I like the house. If you saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding I thought this house belonged/designed by an older Auntie who hit it big with import business but had no children. She and Uncle had big house to entertain large extended family and visitors from overseas but its too much now that they are older and they are ready to sell. Thats why the bar is stocked with premium liquor but the decorations are dated. I think the house has great bones and depending on the comps would be worth spending a little to have a designer to update.
Beautiful house. I am getting a Hollywood glam style vibes from this house. Has a lot of potential and hidden Germs. I would buy it for investment purpose. I would decorate it in a mid century style or modern glam. I think the turn offs to this house are the logo at the entry door and the interior decoration . If I can afford the listed $2 million price tag, would certainly buy it.👍
definitely buying - my husband wants space..if he could, he'd live in a mall so we're always on the hunt for tons of sq footage. This is a great house and i love the custom details...however i do see how people can see it's dated but that's mostly because of their furniture choices. you could modernize this space quickly with paint and your own furniture choices. i like the mix of old and new and creating a curated home that's unique to you and your family.
I think the term you’re looking for is neoclassical …not old… This is done in a classical style. To continuously call it old or aged is detrimental language for that property
I like the period look of everything and whomever designed the hole and the finishes to me were smart enough to do it in a way that it doesn’t look dated. Im not a fan of crystal chandeliers, but other than that out side of the furnishings I like it.
The home is beautiful; especially the decor, as it fits the aesthetic. Since it's just me, it's too large, but I would definitely buy it to invest in an Airbnb-- or use as a wedding venue.
That home is beautiful. Very specific design for specific taste. It will sell though. Also keep in mind location. Annandale buyers will appreciate that design and timeless/classic finishes.
This house was just my type, just too big for me but I loved pretty much everything about it but the size. That is a great price to me, so much attention to detail in this home. This home would cost at least 5 million in California, or more. Loved the molding, floor and kitchen, plus the size of the back yard was very impressive. Lastly I really like the curb appeal.
If I had the $$$ I would buy. The star has to go bye bye, but love the hardwood floors. The molding are great. The half bath is good, not my style but I wouldn't change it right away. That study would be my office. The tray ceiling in the living room is fantastic ❤. Love the sunroom I would have so many plants 🪴. I like cabinets in the kitchen, that go to ceiling. I would only the countertop, but not right away. The kitchen with butlers pantry is good. 2nd kitchen will not be used to often. I really appreciate all the bathrooms in this home. Nice laundry room. The main bedroom with the sunroom is perfect ❤. The basement is a great entertainment area. Outside area is exactly what I want, because it alreay has a garden and entertaining area. ❤❤❤
I like that old timey feel of the house it lookes kept up not my type of but it's a cool nostalgic house and you scared me Johnathan when i haven't seen you post in awhile good to see you're ok.
This house is, as you pointed out, a specific taste. It is a huge house. And a lot of money went into the details such as wainscoting. It is a house for someone who is a collector of art and antiques. Let me say not everyone wants an ultra modern home or ultra modern furnishings. Those buyers will be fewer and unfortunately, they will probably be harder to please. If you could convince the seller to include some or most of the furniture that was left behind, it might actually help the sale. Either that or stage it with more modern or transitional furniture and art.
J.M is right about it being just a little older or dated...I say that because of the Pillars...now I always loved pillars, but pillars were looked at like an added bit of luxury in the 80's...lol...and yes it can be a bit dated...but over all...I don't see the whole house as being that dated...but I would definitely change some things👍
👍 I would buy it with the intent to modernize it. I think I would have change out the floors also. Something about the floor limits your furniture options.
If i could afford it, I would buy this house!! The decor is all about an individuals taste. Nothing in that place screams old. It's called character. Hated the bathroom sinks that are bowls sitting on a counter 😂 Those drive me nuts! That is the only thing I would change. 2 sinks in the bathrooms. Move the house to the west cost so I can buy it!
I would bye it 1,599 million ❤❤❤❤great space and hugh backyard , change the interior decor n layout .it's worth every penny a great investment property, don't look at what it is but what you can make it into ....
There is nothing wrong with this house..very little changes are necessary..to me..I'd purchase it for me..FOR SURE‼️💯👍🏾..oh I could care less about the star🤷🏾♂️
Exactly
The house screams "Old Money"! I love the style updated with modern finishes and touches. A pkg deal of house and furnishings I'm in at about $3.8MM. Im 40 and i thought it was beautiful. Timeless, elegant and classic
It's very European and traditionalist, to me, and I love the antiques and wide upholstered chairs, even though I'm not buying the furniture. I'd choose this over most of your other recent houses any day of the week.
I concur.

I like the home has great potential just needs to updated
I would add a pool and pool house and an outdoor kitchen
Floors for tge win🎉
I enjoyed your tour and am actually experienced with marketing and design in Northern Virginia, McLean, DC, Fairfax, Loudoun, etc. This is not a criticism, it's simply some advice that will improve your tours, by using the correct descriptions. Get rid of the word "older" to describe anything in your tours.
The house is nice. Very traditional. Some updating is needed.

Agreed
12:13 i love the door
Beautiful house. Very classic.
Love the star but the stark white tile has got to go!!! See, I’m with your wife on the foyer’, boom ta da Overwhelmingly unwelcoming and creates a bizarre energy! I love everything about the house.
I love the house and the decor! Stunning!

I like it, has character, love the green in the kitchen. The furniture and light fixtures can be changed.
I like it! The decor fits the house. Everything was tastefully done and well maintained. I probably would have the furniture included in the purchase.
It’s a lovely house
If you can afford this house you can afford the minor changes. It has great bones it just need the right buyer. Not every house is made for everyone
It’s a catering kitchen
It’s not dated !! It a traditional home
It's traditional but still dated because I know someone who had the same kind of kitchen back in the 90's and the bathrooms are also dated.
@ it doesn’t matter if you saw it in the 90s / it’s an interior design style
the past without being specific to any single period.
This is a classic house. Very tastefully decorated. I loved everything about it
I think with this house it is easy to look beyond decor to make a decision. I can see a potential buyer probably talking about the changes they’d like to make as they’re walking through the house.

I love it

Beautiful, nice, huge inside and outside. New home owner has minimal upgrades, then perfect. I really like it. Price is too expensive for what you get. Needs two more bedrooms and two more garage space.

Lovely home..
It’s almost giving beauty and the beast
By the looks of the furnishings, it's obvious the previous owners are older and well to do, some of the rooms feel unconnected and a bit random but nevertheless charming, if the buyer doesn't like the decor, it would be a huge investment and upgrade. The front of the home looked a bit busy with a random choice of plants, again nevertheless a beautiful home with a ton of potential! I thought the cost would be higher! I like it! 🤑
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Without any doubt the decor influence a buyer. The entire home gives me "Grandma" house, or "Auntie Bertha"
Grandma no longer we can always redesign to make it your own.
That house including furniture is LUFly❤
I love this house. I've watched this video a thousand times.
Beautiful exterior and porch!!! Love the staircase I hate opening a door to a house and walking straight to a staircase 12 inches away
This is a very very nice beautiful home. Reminds me living in the country with the trees blowing and setting outside drinking tea or lemonade ❤❤❤
❤I love the home
9:33 nice kitchen though ☺️

I don't like the star or the white tile it's on. Throw a rug on it!
This is a modern classic home with a cooking area with seating space for catering staff etc. very nice
Jonathan sure can miss a room(10:04/11:37)... or 2(15:59)... or 3(21:58)😏‼️
😂
I like this house because I prefer a more traditional home. The star in the foyer is fine. A lot of the more modern contemporary homes of today are a dime a dozen, even though I believe this home was no different when it was built.

If I can afford the listed $2 million price tag, would certainly buy it.👍
I couldn’t use this as anything other than a personal residence. It’s an interesting home.
definitely buying - my husband wants space..if he could, he'd live in a mall so we're always on the hunt for tons of sq footage.
Ahhh yes. Neoclassical.
It's a nice home on a great lot. But, it will need updating!
I would buy this house in a heart beat!!!!! it just needs a few cosmetic changes! NICE!!!!!!
I like the period look of everything and whomever designed the hole and the finishes to me were smart enough to do it in a way that it doesn’t look dated. Im not a fan of crystal chandeliers, but other than that out side of the furnishings I like it.
I absolutely love the sunroom off to the master bedroom. The star on the floor in the foyer would have to go!
The home is uniquely beautiful
The home is beautiful; especially the decor, as it fits the aesthetic. Since it's just me, it's too large, but I would definitely buy it to invest in an Airbnb-- or use as a wedding venue.
That home is beautiful. Very specific design for specific taste. It will sell though. Also keep in mind location. Annandale buyers will appreciate that design and timeless/classic finishes.
I would definitely buy it!!! It's beautiful!!!
Yes I like the style and some of the decor.
Front room just only needs the baby grand.
Some of the peace’s are collectible items
It's not outdated... it is designed to look this way. It's Traditional.
Yes I would purchase for myself. I would make minor changes
I really like the home and the decorations. Would have loved to see the inside of the pantry!
PERFECT timing! Let's see what's in store for us tonight....
I love the powder room vanity at 12:24.
That’s not bad at all not even 2 million that’s great
Love the tub!!!!!!
👍 I would buy it with the intent to modernize it. I think I would have change out the floors also. Something about the floor limits your furniture options.
Love it!
The entire layout of the house is peculiar and very customized.
Beautiful home!
