Edit: I know full well the problems with the grammys lol my rant was more about what happened in this case less about the entire process which again I know all about. Also I watch the grammys EVERY year, so I already saw the Lil Nas X + the rest of the music industry (& RM lol) performance.

@@AmariLeone Btw, "daesang" (pronounced day-sahng) is made of the words dae and sang, which mean "big" and "award". They're basically just the main awards that everyone wants, like the ones at the Grammys and whatever, the stuff that gets broadcasted on TV - Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, etc.
Also there are multiple Korean (and Asian) award shows mentioned when they talked about how many daesangs that BTS got. They're generally between November and February or so, and there are usually only a few daesangs given at each one (5? Not sure tbh). Melon Music Awards (MMA), Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), Golden Disc Awards, etc.

To be honest, I don’t care at all wether bts wins a Grammy or not! I care about bts for their music and them as people, not how much praise they get by others to what awards they get. Also it’s not like the Grammies are an unbiased, fair award show, so winning a Grammy is not exactly the greatest award to receive. It’s all name value and no substance.

  • @daisylovesbooks1
    @daisylovesbooks1 4 года назад +504

The grammys are literally using bts for clout but we’re still hoping that the recording academy will give them the nomination. BTS was this year able to perform at the grammys but only because Nas and Lil Nas X invited RM to perform a song together (in the end all members of BTS participated). Sugas main wish is now to do a BTS stage at the grammys but for that is a nomination necessary. The rule says: no nomination, no performance.

    • @DEE-305
      @DEE-305 4 года назад +23

But the Grammy's offered BTS membership to be a part of the voting Recording Academy themselves. We can say that they invite them to get TV viewership but still inviting them to the Grammy museum & keeping their 2019 tuxedos there for display is a good acknowledgments for BTS.
It was Grammy's hands they did it, nominations & voting aren't. We don't know if the Recording Academy will vote for BTS or not or what their reasons may or may not be.

    • @SnowxXxAngel
      @SnowxXxAngel 4 года назад +15

I think the voters for who wins a grammy are mostly middle aged people who have never once listened to anything BTS and only focus on the fact that they are singing in another language. They don't go into the lyrics or message BTS is putting out into the world. They've probably never even heard of BTS before then so vote someone else. idk... but yeah it really isn't a fair system.

Baby steps, guys. The fact that BTS as the 1st Korean act attending the Grammys... in any way, shape or form... is cool, & both surprising & anticipated. First, a nomination & as trophy presenters in 2019. Then, as performers in 2020. Baby steps.
Iirc, it would be nearly a decade after the Grammys inception before the first black artists won anything on this platform. However, if anything, for BTS to win, it really will probably be in the World music category, as the video alludes to. While this is agreeably xenophobic at best, i think BTS will take it. Just remember that the boys, especially Suga, has "prophesized" a Grammy, years ago. It may eventually happen, however we will have to wait in these trying times, as this pandemic may affect these types of matters for the future, including the future of BTS itself.
      Again, baby steps.

BTS was not number 1 in US per sps score. The top 05 best seller of the year have more chances to be nominted. MOTS PERSONA was on top 40 sps best seller per Buzz Angle/Hits daily double ranking. Right now MOTS 7 is n°7 sps best seller album. Please don't confuse pure sales mark: 7 is n°1 in US vs sps : stream + pure sales. Btw WORDWIDE sale are not a criteria for grammys. They're a very local award so ofc they focus on US market impact. Rn 7 has a total of 664K sps whereas The Week End , Eminem, Ricch Roddy are (almost) Platinum. Army needs to improve stream & digital sales to hit a multi platinum mark. In the end grammys are more likely to nominate 2 to 4X platinum album.

Daesangs are awarded at the end of most korean award shows. They are the most prestigious award an artist can receive and usually 1-4 are given out at every award show. These are awards such as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Record of the Year etc.
Last year BTS had a daesang sweep at: the Melon Music Awards (equivalent to BBMAs); MAMA (equivalent to VMAs); and GDA (equivalent to AMAs). They are not only one of the youngest recipients of the KMAs (basically the Korean Grammys) but they are also the only idol group, along with Red Velvet, to receive an award.
Currently BTS have over 40 daesangs (they were awarded 19 in 2019 alone) the most for any artist ever!

If I'm not mistaken VMAs is the MTV video music awards, right? Well, MAMA awards are not based on music videos. Has nothing to do with music videos. The criteria also include album sales, streaming, fan voting plus industry players' judgment. Just a typical award show for popularity, that's why it's important for SK artists as popularity leads to commercial values. Mnet has a stronghold on the entertainment industry (the parent company is CJ E&M ~ a very powerful conglomerate in SK).

Yes, BTS definitely gets used by media in the West AND East. Nevertheless, they still participate and reap the benefit of the exposure- a thing no one can reasonably say is meaningless. Their album and concert tickets sales grow exponentially every year. It is damn near impossible for any other idol group in SK to compete with them (it's not bragging, it's just what it is). This happens because BTS shows up when others decide to boycott. They put smiles on their faces for ARMY because they know seeing them makes us happy. Perhaps it's my age that keeps me from getting upset at all the backhanded insults, they aren't surprising, I knew they were coming. U.S. minority entertainers still get treated like garbage in their own freaking country, how was it going to be different for actual non-white foreigners? The pristine yet relatable reputation that BTS has created for themselves will endure and outlast the injustices, I'm not worried about it. They just need to keep pushing, keep taking advantage of those open doors (even when they are opened with less than reputable intentions). Think about how often some of the western icons we hold so dear were/are stubbed by the entertainment industry. BTS will be fine.

ok i'm gonna try to answer all your questions!!
3:55 a daesang is a grand prize, it's basically an award of a higher value than the rest of them at an award show (a daesang would be artist of the year and a normal award something like best choreography for example)
5:57 the award show from earlier was MMA (melon music awards) and the other one where they won artist of the year is MAMA (mnet asian music awards), it's two different ones haha
6:43 fun fact, as of 2020 bts now have 41 daesangs i believe, they won 20 or so ones in 2019 alone :)
7:23 the fact they doubted we could get 1M preorders is so funny now because the latest bts album, mots:7 had 4M preorders which is more than most of their faves sold in their entire career so i'm curious where they will set our next goal???
8:47 netizens are literally interNET citIZENS i guess you could say, it's people on the internet, in this case the people commenting were probably from other fandoms who hate on bts.
9:20 the 1M thing was what they thought we couldn't reach in one album sale, the 10M is what they thought we couldn't reach as in bts' full discography sales. bts now has over 20M album sales in korea alone and around 40M total units worldwide and they are in the top 10 bestselling artists worldwide of the 2010s.
10:32 yg is really bad with physical sales, even their biggest groups don't sell much, most of their sales are in digitals. (blackpink which is probably their biggest group had like 300k-400k sales for their last mini album)
13:16 actually they did also win top social artist at the bbmas in 2019 and not only that, but they also won top duo/group which made them the first korean artist to win a main award at an american award show.
13:38 those award shows aren't based on fandoms nominating artists, artists get nominated based on their merits and bts were huge on twitter by that point already (enough for an american award show to nominate them which says a lot i think) so them winning top social artist was obvious if you know how many numbers they pull on there. these other fandoms think they are as big and constantly want to compare themselves and their favs to armys and bts in size but i'm telling you right now and i'm not trying to be mean or condecending, just realistic, they aren't. that's why only bts got nominated and keeps getting nominated.
20:22 bs indeed. we only hype them going to the grammys because it was their dream but the academy keeps ripping them off when it comes to nominations. at the latest grammys they didn't get nominated at all and only attended because they got thrown into a performance with lil nas x since namjoon did a version of old town road called seoul town road with him. they were on stage for like 30 seconds. it's just really disrespectful. and the thing is i have no clue if they will ever get nominated for a major category since a bunch of the people in the academy who are voting for artists are very likely racist or xenophobic and would never give them a chance and that kinda explains a lot i think. (though bts are now academy members too but... that doesn't help them much) but yeah, we were so mad that we re-charted their entire discography (korean albums, japanese albums, mixtapes, even their game ost) on us itunes. so we turned our rage into something productive. twitter armys united :)
29:15 their previous stadium tour was huge, they sold out wembley twice in 2 hours each (90k capacity stadium), they sold out stade de france twice, rose bowl twice, metlife twice, soldier field twice, allianz park in brazil twice, many shows in korea in the olympic stadium, it was huge for them. they were also the first korean act to perform a solo concert at one of the largest stadiums (if not the largest) in saudi arabia and saudi officials even changed some of their laws because of so many people coming to the bts show so that those people didn't have to follow dressing traditions and things that are usually punishable by law there. in conclusion, bts can sell out any single venue in the world at this point.

They think that people like them just because they're " a cute boyband for teenagers that can sing and dance at the same time". The truth is that they actually use other platforms to communicate with fans (Weverse, v-live). So basically you have to be a fan to know this, for example, you need a bighit membership to be in weverse . They do live streams where they talk about the process of making an album, talk about themselves, they even have their own shows (A LOT )...than you realise that they're very humble and genuine .Trust me, the best thing you can do to make bts happy is give them food lmao, they're so funny. They also get so competitive with each other when there is a price (aka a 5$ coupon lol) (you'll get what I mean once you know more about their personalities), sometimes I forget they're celebrities. It's funny because the media only sees the " flawless looking 7 guys at the red carpet and stage" well- I've those guys in pajamas with messy hair, packing their baggage, losing their passport (RM, to be more precise), getting excited over a ramen cooker (yes lmao), cooking pancakes at home and then realising that they don't have eggs, crying because they messed up something at stage, dissing each other...so many things

The clout-chasing BTS receives is really a double-edged sword...
One example is the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball event in December. iHeartRadio hyped them so much to get viewers, and while they performed with big names like Billie Eilish and Lizzo, it was pretty much ARMY that filled the Forum in Los Angeles during their performance. These boys traveled 14-15 hours to perform a 15-min set, do the promotions, and schedule interviews, etc. but yet they still get NO PLAYS on the radio? Radio DJs saying "if we get X amount of retweets, we'll play BTS..."? I feel bad for them because it's pretty much "their damned if they do (the effort they have to put in for travel/performing and possibly being used for promoting an event) and they're damned if they don't (losing on getting their name out to the general public)".
Same goes for the Grammys...The Grammys got a lot of hype last year when they announced that BTS would be attending as presenters -- they didn't make the announcement until, I think, 4 days before the date. Fast forward to this year, when BTS did not get any nominations, and then the Grammys pretty much realized they were not going to get the viewership as they did the year before. Then they announce that they were going to do a collab w/Lil' Nas X the week before, and all of a sudden, BTS' going to the Grammys and performing becomes the talk of every news source. They were on-stage for 30-seconds (and killed it, btw), and it was pretty much the performance of the night. I'm waiting for the day that a big US awards show gives them even a fraction of the stage they had at the 2019 MMAs (which I'm waiting for your reaction to, btw :)...
They're not stupid...I know they are aware of it all, but the xenophobia is real. When you see a pretty prominent radio DJ say that they don't play BTS because there isn't a high enough demand for them or they didn't know their single came out, it makes me laugh. This is why the ARMY is so protective of them. After all this, however, they are just as genuine and humble as they can be, and they show the world that they enjoy every minute. They always show that they are grateful for everything that they have been given, and I think that how they earn more fans.

Absolutely, I agree. I don't like it but I know that BTS makes their own decisions. They sacrifice their pride at times to gain fans and spread their music. Life is often like that, giving up one thing to gain another. I'm sure it's tough on them but I don't think they have any regrets. They ride hard for us and we do the same for them. We mean so much to them. So as much as I hate it when I know they're being used, I will push those feelings aside and cheer because they did it for us.

Melon is a streaming platform in Korea. MMA (Melon Music Award) is one award show, MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) is another show. Mnet is a music show. They’re the 2 most popular award shows for kpop. There’s also the Golden Disk Awards, and the Soul Music Awards (where the term Daesang comes from). We call Daesangs all the major category awards: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, among others.

You should have been on Twitter when we heard about the Grammys and the unfairness they’ve treated bts with.
American music industry is so freaking xenophobic and racism you have no idea what we have do deal with.
Especially the Grammys, they recognize that bts has a massive following and they are a movement and as they want to seem an inclusive award show they invited bts but made it very clear that they “can’t sit with them”
If you ever listen to “Love yourself: tear” you’ll see that it was Grammy worthy, it’s such a good album.
The same goes for radio play , we recently had a discussion with some radio stations, the demand for bts is very clear in America but radios refuse to play them.
Radio hosts even said to us that “we should build a relationship with radios, maybe then they’ll be more open to play them” as if that’s not all we’ve been doing since 2017, we send flowers, letters in thanks for playing bts. Radio spins are really important for charts, bts is among the very few artists who can have their song debut at number 4 on billboard hot 100 chart with minimal to no radio play but If it’s not in English thwy won’t play it, they made that very clear from the beginning and it’s so frustrating when there’s clearly a demand for it
Their latest album get to number 1 in 21 countries, including the top 5 music markets in the world (USA, UK Germany, France, Japan)
Only six other artists managed to get a number one in all major music industries. It makes me so angry, the unfairness they face in the west

The fact that BTS outsold the big 3 (that has many groups) with just themselves is karma in his finest 😏
The grammys incident was really something I personally didn't like for the same reason you pointed out, but since the boys were so happy about just attending we took his humble posture. The fact is that they have more ratings and social media engagement because BTS. In fact Forbes & RollingStone cover the BTS MMA 2019 performance ruclips.net/video/b9cG4DzpL_c/видео.html and stated "Grammy isn't ready for BTS" and talks about how legendary the stage and their performance was. 😎

I really appreciate and enjoy your perspective on the grammy issue and this whole video in general. It's always been a struggle for army to push barriers to get the boys forward and personally it taught me that no dream is too little or unworthy to pursue. I remember in 2015 when army would come together and push for objectives and goals (like voting for MAMA, mv streaming goals) and such to try our best even though we were up against massive powerhouse successes. I think the essence behind the success of bts and army is that we both faced the criticism and judgement (other groups and fandoms), so when we were pushing forward towards our goals, we were so focused on getting the boys more success that we were not concerned with the success of other groups, we tried our personal best and if in the end we didn't win, it was still alright because its natural to hope and have expectations, but we were always a step closer to our goals. I think also 2015 was peak for Kpop fans in general, there were a lot of groups that were active and had just debuted sharing the big stages. We celebrated the winners rather than put them down and so did the boys, it was an amazing experience growing up with bts for me. One of the many things i've learned being a part of in this family is to grab every opportunity that you can to further your dreams, it may not be what you expected but you'll be one step closer to success. Thank you for this great video, it just got my emotions stirring up lol. I loveedddd "a lion is not concerned with the opinion of sheep" periodddddd.

BTS are actually members of the Recording Academy, too, according to RM. I've also read that the major category wins tend to go to the most well known artists in the different categories because the voters just tend to vote on the names they recognize. If nominating committee will ever give them a nomination for something other than their album cover, they'll probably win.

Ohhhh we are totally with you regarding the Grammys because they truly snubbed our boys, even though they had sold millions or albums, sold-out stadiums around the world and countless records they didn't get even a nomination this year and AMAs created a hole new kpop category just so they wouldn't have to include them in the main ones.
It's very clear to us that the industry is trying to stop them and they are scared shitless when it comes to BTS. The boys are selling out stadiums, mil of albums without bundles or industry gimmicks, top the charts without any spins/radio play and have a very strong fandom around the world that dominates all social media, shows up for them anytime they are invited somewhere and supports them all the way.
ARMYs are very knowledgeable when it comes to the inner workings of the industry, strategic, very organized and self-sustained. It's crazy if you look into it. This fandom has created fanbases to support charities, awareness for mental health, education, wellness etc besides the usual basses for chart, pics and other content that the rest have. I have never seen a fandom like this.
Armys tend to be very protective over them and intense because these boys are constantly facing prejudice, xenophobia, underserved hate and at the end of the day they only have us. We are pissed at how the industry treats them because we know that they deserve so much more.
Anyway, I will end my novel here and I just want to tell you that I looove your reactions because you are genuine and no worries cuz the majority of ARMYs know how to take criticism or opinions is the arguments are laid out in a respectful way.

What do you think army does, you could check out a couple of other videos like "What Yoongi Wants, Yoongi Gets". Basically, when any of our boys say they want something, we army's will move mountains to see that they get it.
As for the Grammy debacle, I was more upset than you, until I watched their vlive after. Our boys were so happy and excited, I'm sure they know they were being used for ratings, but I realized they also saw the door that has now been opened and they focused on that instead. I was no longer as angry, if BTS choose to look at the bright side instead of the crappy side, I will follow. Loved your reaction again. I tried to wait for the premiere, but it makes it 4 am on my side of the world and I gave up at 1😬 Anyway, back at it now and really liked how you go off towards injustice (cause at this stage, not sure you would consider yourself ARMY but I feel you would call it on anyone who would be treated like this, and that’s awesome). The series explains a bit why ARMY is so touchy and sensitive, and sadly sometimes overreact and get called rabid fans... But I’m older and although my heart hurts for these boys every time they get snubbed, I also know they are here to stay. It doesn’t matter how long it takes. The Beatles were also once a boy band with hysterical screaming girls following them, Queen’s BoRap wouldn’t be played on Radio because it didn’t fit the mould... I am happy you reacted to the Karma series because there is no doubt in my mind that Karma loves BTS... and that Karma is an ARMY of course🤟🏻💜🤟🏻

    On the GRAMMYS:
This is gonna be long. I'm sorry.
The Grammy Committee and the Recording Academy are separate entities as you know. The Grammy committe had been boasting over the past few years that they were making a conscious effort to acknowledge more diversity among nominees. The wanted to do better at recognizing world artists esp those impacting the US music scene. There was a new director that was pushing the agenda ...an agenda in support of artists exactly like BTS. Hence...they were invited for a special tour and interview, invited to be educators at Grammy U for music students, articles written by them in support of them, their IDOL performance suits were on display in the Grammy museum, etc.
Problem is the recording academy , the actual voters, are not ...how DO I say this...as "international". (They are white, narrow minded, xenophobic, blah..blah..blah.) So you have the Grammy committee spending quite a bit of time to highlight BTS only to have the voting committee overlook them. Shortly after this year's Grammys the current director became a whistleblower and exposed the corruption going in within the voting and accused some of the older men of sexual abuse (more like intimidation). It was ugly. They exposed how some artists were added to the nominations even though they hadn't made the cut, producers for nominated artists were voting for their own artists when they should not have been, Etc. Hence why after BTS got snubbed last year the show made it possible for them to perform anyways....aka Old Town Road Remix. Basically it was confirmed the Grammys were corrupt (no big surprise there).
And it was mentioned that the first time the boys were invited as presenters they were invited to the winners after party for the Grammy photo because it was a historic moment, them being the first Kpop artist to appear on a Grammy stage and the photo would be displayed in the Grammy museum as part of their history.
The Grammy committee has been a big supporter of BTS now if we could get the Academy of voters, industry insiders, on board it would happen for them. The complaint I have with voters is they can easily be influenced with their votes if you know what I mean and you do.
My opinion on how this year will go: First this virus messed up their release plans. They had planned a 2 album release before another record breaking twice as big tour that we know of. Rm mentioned in his VLive that had a lot planned that wo t happen now. So they ended up with 1 album release earlier in the calculation period and a postponed tour. Second you have the defunct, previously established boy bands making their comebacks (ie. Jo Bros and 5sos) that the committee will overlook BTS again. Ever since BTS started making big splashes we've seen a resurgence in boybands... They will choose the status quo (causcasion) over kpop, again. When in fact, they have been deserving for a few years now. I will say it now if the Jonas Brothers get one and BTS doesn't, its rigged. Period. They can pull charts but they cant pulled pure sales, tour size or streams over BTS. Jo bros have radio. Tracking for Grammys is until September so we shall see. BTS is putting out a Japanese album in July. That will only help world charts. Anyways....
A daesang is a grand prize: song of the year, record of the year, album of the year or artists of the year. Their are several major awards shows in Korea and Asia each award season (Nov-January). Some are strictly for the kpop industry and some are for the regular music industry. Some are Korea and some are all of Asia. They have MAMA, MMA, Golden Disk, KMA, and I know theres another one it has escaped me. The amazing thing is the headliner, gets a crazy amount of performance time like 20-30 minutes and these shows last 3-4 hours! Tons of performances and lots of awards other than the Daesangs. They are pretty entertaining. And when BTS attends they always have new performances even though they perform the same songs. It really next level. Its like a mini BTS concert.
And that video was a little old but the daily hate BTS/ARMYs continues to get from other fandoms is fairly and silly at this point. they look stupid. No group, not even the previous groups, have numbers that come anywhere near BTS at home and abroad yet they are still beating their drums with their silly sticks. Instead of looking at it like: the more success BTS has the more the entire industry will open to kpop artists. No, it's a long engrained we are the best mentality. And the sad thing is while they were all hating on BTS, Big Hit gobbled up the entire kpop industry. The same industry that shit on BTS for years. There is no Big 3 anymore. There's Big Hit and everyone else....and it actually has helped other small agencies. At this point, people downplaying BTSs success is just foolish. And honestly this success couldnt have come to 7 better talented, gentle men. Peace.

    Starlight (VIXX’s fandom)
    EXO-L (EXO’s fandom)
    iGOT7/Ahgase (GOT7’s fandom)
And of course ARMY (BTS’ fandom)
So I’ve never understood the fan wars and the hatred. It was honestly insane! Especially when people found out that I was also an ARMY. Over time, I just kinda fell out of those fandoms, but stayed true to BTS and my ARMY family💜
I guess I just connected with BTS and ARMY on a more personal level than anyone else 🤷‍♀️

Yet when I tell people I listen to French Pop, German Pop, Latino Pop; they are like "Wow that's awesome" but then I tell them I listen to Kpop and they're like "BuT yOu DoNt EvEn KnOw WhAt ThEyRe SaYiNg"
    I just don't understand it
Edit: Yeah BTS doesn't have a Grammy because they are racist and xenophobic 🤷‍♀️ That's all it is. There is no other possible reason

big 3 are considered big 3 because they basically invented kpop.they started the 1st generation of kpop, SM invented the trainee system and they did a lot more. So the big 3 is more of an impact thing rather than how well are they doing nowdays or something else like that. But when it comes the top 5 in sales nowdays then bighit is number one followed by SM,JYP, Pledis,Swing entarteiment.

Mia Anyone who reads about Korean popular music knows that these companies didn’t invent kpop. The one who started Korean pop music was Seo Tijji (I hope I spelled it right). They, particularly the founder of sm, saw the success of Seo Tijii and decided to do something similar. SM created their first group HOT, and JYP made G.O.D. (also a boy group). YG made a group (forgot their name but one of the members appears on variety shows and is known for his participation in marathons).

That's how the whole ARMY fan base feel about the GRAMMYS.
They did another bitchy move towards BTS this year too. Basically they were not nominated nor invited, until a few days before the award show they revealed that BTS would perform with Lil Nas X. The performance had a lot of mixed reactions because they were performing a song that's not theirs in the "back".
They barely got a "performance". If they were given enough time they would have outperformed all the artists present at the award show. (Asian awards performances are a whole other level).
I was very angry that they did the boys dirty but they truly made the best out of what little they were given, and the public was shook. They also looked like they were having fun there.
But I doubt that they'll be able to ignore BTS's achievements and ARMY'S power for long😂😂😂

@@AmariLeone The difference between BTS's performances in Korea (in MMA or MAMA) and any Grammy performance you can think of is just mind blowing. I didn't know a lot about Grammy, so I watched the Grammy 2020 because BTS had a little part in it for the first time. I was just surprised about how TINY and NOT IMPRESSIVE the stage was. I thought it was going to be a huge stage like the Korean ones with amazing performances like the ones I am used to with BTS but no. I didn't see anything that catched my attention and made me say "wow, who does this?" Like all BTS's performances on Korean award shows.
I think you should watch BTS's 2019 performance at the MMA. It's just MIND BLOWING. They had like almost 40 MINUTES performance, the WHOLE stage for them, and they used all of this time really well, to the point where when I watched this, it felt like only 10 minutes because of how creative they are on stage. Grammy is a big joke next to this, you'll be surprised.

i agree with u on the grammy part, wbk they used them for clout, they were invited this year too and actually performed but were robbed of so many well deserved nominations for example : they had the best selling album in the world in 2019, the other 3 artists who were right after them were nominated for album of the year but bts were nowhere to be seen despite the fact that they were literally the best selling artists in the world.......i recommend you to watch their performance on MMA 2019 and you'll see that it's not bts who need a grammy, it's the grammys that need bts

the thing that confuses me the most about fanwars is that fandoms try to tear other groups down to "support" their own faves when the members of those groups often like each other and are friends. tbh I don't think their idols appreciate them insulting their friends when there are so many ways to support someone without belittling someone else
I just don't get it and I'm kind of glad I don't because I wouldn't want to have that kind of mindset and I actually enjoy being a multi

Lolololol I think you’re an official ARMY now. There is literally zero reason for why people hate on BTS so much. It was just horrible from day one. The boys have gone through so much bullshit, not only from online but in person from the industry as well. From being denied dressing rooms, forcing them to get ready in public bathrooms, to more recently where a news station broke into their companies building to try and dig up dirt on them, BTS really only have ARMY and BigHit to trust and rely on.
What you also said about the Grammys is also correct. They are just trying to use BTS for the ARMY views, since they know we will always show up for the boys. But we see through their shit, and, for the most part, are actively boycotting them.
There’s just always soooo much bullshit. Recently, after ON came out, ARMY’s were waiting for Billboard to calculate the ranking of the song on their music charts. Not only did Billboard delay posting the rank until the last possible second, but THEY COMPLETELY MISCALCULATED AND DISREGARDED OVER 20MILLION ONLINE STREAMS OF THE SONG! How do we know this? ARMY has been working diligently to do everything possible to help the boys achieve their dreams, and over the years, several very knowledgeable ARMYs learned how to calculate album streams and what not in order to optimize our strategies to help the boys rank as highly as possible. WE HAVE THE RECIEPTS, but no one in the industry is answering any of our questions, and are basically ignoring us. We even trended #BILLBOARDRECALCULATE to #1 on twitter, WORLDWIDE, and got zero response. Then, all of a sudden, 5 Seconds of Summer (a white Australian, i think, boy band) lost only 10k streams and all of the industry were losing their minds, while still completely ignoring what Billboard did to BTS.
All I’m saying is that the racism is strong, and the hate is completely irrational.
