On this episode of Breaking Trail, Coyote discovers the most bizarre creature he’s ever found, a Caecilian!
Wait a what?! A Caecilian, while at first glance looks exactly like a giant earthworm, is actually an amphibian more closely related to salamanders. It’s definitely NOT a Worm.
These subterranean crawlies live in the loose soils and substrate all over the world. They are very elusive and almost never seen by humans, so even though the rain forced the camera crew to take shelter Coyote just had to share this amazing encounter with the Coyote Pack!

I grew up in Malaysia and I had twice encountered caecelians while digging up my back yard. Initially I thought they were earthworms but it's bluish tinged slick skin and firm muscular body hinted at something different. It was a crazy bizarre experience the first time like "Hey mom, I found a mutant earthworm in our backyard"

It was the most irritating and burning sensation I've ever felt in my eyes. Every time I opened my eyes it burned AF. But with lots of water (one of my teachers prepare a solution of light salted boiled water to apply directly) and rinsing it went away...after 20 minutes

No I found many in india and I don't even live near a rainforest some species of these are invasive in india thay take place for earthworms in india they are quite small and are called two headed snakes cuz it looks like both of it's sides are it's head
Id say its more probable that you found a blind snake they are extremly similiar to this creature they are also known as pot snakes because they got distribute trough the world cause of the asian pot trade they like dark and humod places and can be found under pots in bathroom or in carpets and mostly underground tho these ones are snakes you can even see little scales on them they eat ants and termites we used to catch them for fun when i was like 10

As a kid, I used to find and play with these in Florida. Maybe not the same exact species, but a very similar one. There were super common around our compost pile and not uncommon underneath flowerbed borders.
I preferred finding the ring neck snakes, but they were less common.

not all ants bite. for example, the common ant youll find invading your house, the paratrechina longicornis. or the big black ants youll find in the rainforest, the diacamma rugosum, they have large mandibles but dont bite.

I remember seeing a nature documentary in third or fourth grade when we were learning about amphibians and it talked about Caecilians. At the time I thought they were just amazing. Now, seven/eight years later I’ve been trying to find (to no avail) what the slimy underground, snake-like creature I remembered was called. Finally after about a year of searching I got my answer.

I read a story one time that said that at least one species was actually venomous. It specifically cited a story about a woman who caught one, and it immediately gave her a bite which then took longer than usual to heal, as if something was preventing the wound from healing.
