- After years of traveling around the World, I finally made my way to Costa Rica in Central America! I've wanted to come to Costa Rica for a long time and I'm excited to be here! I decided to base myself my first month in Jaco as I travel down to explore different places along the pacific coast. Follow me as I explore playa de Jaco and the town of Jaco Costa Rica!
Welcome to my channel! I'm Patrick and this is Patmax Adventures! I'm originally from California and have been living abroad for the past four years. I decided to start this channel to share my experiences and passion for travel with others. My goal with this channel is to share and show as much as I can of the World. My focus will always be on the culture, food and of course the local people of everywhere I travel to! I'm an optimist and always try to highlight the positives of a place rather than just the negatives.Though I will also be bluntly honest at times too! If you love travel and exploring far away places, then you found the right place!

I didn't realize how pink I was after editing this video! I spent way too long out in the sun and didn't use strong enough sunscreen. I will try not to be so pink in future videos lol. Always remember to wear STRONG sunscreen ^^
So where are you planning to get vaccinated?
@@aumarigan Back in my home town in San Diego as soon as I can get one there. Maybe here in Costa Rica if they are not too expensive and become available.

Yay‼️ you made it safely to Costa Rica 👍👍...... Jaco is no where close to Waikiki and Boracay to where I’ve been to both..... I look forward to your videos in Costa Rica because I have plans to go there within the next 2 months.... Unless they open the Philippines to tourist again.... hope your mom is well...... What I meant is that Jaco is seen as the most over touristy place in Costa Rica just like Boracay and Phuket are in the Philippines and Thailand. Of course they are very different in many ways. Thank you for the comment about my mom, She is doing good.

I love Jaco Beach I`ve been there 9 times over the years. First time 1991 last time last year 2020 and once the pandemic is over will be going back. It has changed a lot for the better since my first trip to CR , Cheers and Pura Vida 🍺🍻🍺

Go up to Manuel Antonio about an hour away much better beach and cool rain forest.
I’m going there this weekend. I was thinking of spending Saturday at the national park there. Then going back on Sunday just for the beaches there. Any more tips you may have?

Awesome video Pat. Costa Rica is definitely on my long bucket list of places to visit. Is it easy to get around with just English or should a traveler have some knowledge of Spanish?
Thank you! Yes, you can get by with English. Though I would suggest learning some Spanish before coming. It will make things much easier.
yeah..must have been 5am when you took your video cause it's NEVER that empty on the beach...not even during Covid.....
It was 10am. It was really empty the two weeks I was in Jaco. I loved it!

Hi Pat...it’s nice to see u enjoying Costa Rica. It’s definitely mote expensive than Philippines. For an American tourist...how long can u stay there?
It is a lot more expensive than the Philippines. US citizens can stay for 90 days at a time.

Beach sand and water get whiter and clear further north of the country you go also in the Caribbean side. A bit of everything for everyone 👍🏽 pura vida amigo!

Fantastic video, am so so so jealous Patrick. The UK is in hard lockdown, it is freezing cold, -6C last night, heavy snow and its illegal to travel at present. I hope you have a fantastic time, make new friends soon and stay well. I really would like your views on how friendly the locals are to the Philippines, am sure v friendly also. Are you going to go to San Jose at all?
I will probably visit San Jose towards the end of my journey here. I'll be traveling around Costa Rica for three months. i probably wont share anything of San Jose till late April or early May.
I lived in Manila for over half a year. I don't want to be anywhere near a city right now! lol

All the beaches in Costa Rica are different, pacific to Caribbean, there are white sand, gold, black... There are surf beaches like Jaco but also still calm beaches.

@@PatMaxAdventures look for Manuel antonio, isla tortuga, penca, San juanillo (white), Conchal, cabuyal, manzanillo(gold), playa negra one in pacific one in Caribbean (deep black).. Many many different beaches

Thank you! I explained in my packing video why I didn't do it. I felt it was too risky with trying to keep myself safe. Too many procedures and paper work. I wanted to limit the amount of things I had out that could catch something. I wanted to do it, but instead I did a whole Instagram story of my journey.

Thank you for the comment. I went to the PAL learning center near Manila Bay. They are connected with Philippine airlines, which is who I flew with. It cost 3,300 pesos. Not cheap, but I got my results within 12 hours. On the Philippine airlines website they have a list of other clinics around Manila that do a 24 test. Perhaps you could check those out on their website. I hope this helps!

I'm happy you're happy! Looks beautiful! I used to ride horses as a child...or, one. I was, and may be still, a little, autistic, so my parents thought it would be good for me.

I'm so glad you're having a blast there. I didn't know the black sand beaches there included full-size rocks, too. I was surprised I saw so much English everywhere. Is Jaco officially a resort town? Is that why? It looks like, even with Costa Rica's remaining open during the pandemic, they're having a really hard time attracting tourists. It really did look very quiet there. Oh, well. Let's hope more people go there soon. I think the chef who made your acai bowl made a cantaloupe heart because they loved it that you came to their restaurant. :)
Thank you! Yes, I would say Jaco is more a vacation and resort town for sure. I’ve read that the number of tourists in the country is really down. Seems like everywhere around the World is struggling right now.

There are many types of beaches here, you can find white sand and clear green waters in Herradura beach for example, and many beaches in Guanacaste. There's even a beach where the "sand" is made entirely out of very small shells called Conchal, which is really peculiar.
