      Some more fun facts:
      When originally built, it did not have any elevators. The general overseeing it did not want to see fat generals using elevators; everyone would have to use the stairs.
      When originally designed, it was expected that after the war the DoD would be reduced to its pre-war size, they wouldn't need such a large office building anymore, and it would be converted to records storage. Hence, it has rather low ceilings for its size.

    The planets were named after Greek and Roman gods, which were religious to the Greeks and Romans...Mercury was the god of travelers and thieves, Venus was the goddess of love, Mars was the god of war, Jupiter was the king of the gods, aka Zeus, Saturn was the god of agriculture, Uranus was the god of the sky, Neptune was the god of the sea, Pluto was the god of the underworld, aka Hades to the Greeks. Technically, Earth was known as Gaia, the mother of Zeus and the daughter of Uranus. The Greeks and Romans knew there was something in the sky and assumed they were the god watching down on us and assigned the different colored dots in the sky their names, not knowing they were planets in orbit around the sun. Also the Sun was called Apollo, the god of light and the moon was called Selene, the goddess of the moon. Most ancient cultures had pantheons of gods representing different aspects of life, like Thor was the god of thunder and lightning and Loki the god of mischief, which the American Indians god of mischief was Coyote and they had pantheons, too.

    #8 is incorrect: the first US president born a US citizen was John Tyler.
    Tyler was born in 1790; the first one born after the adoption and ratification of the US Constitution (1789), which established the US as a sovereign nation.
    Tyler's nine predecessors in office (Washington thru WH Harrison) were born on what is now US soil, but, because they were British colonies at the time, they were British subjects at birth (though they were all given posthumous retroactive US citizenship by an Act of Congress in 1976)

    • @TheAtkey
      @TheAtkey 8 месяцев назад

      The Delaration of Independence established us as a sovereign nation, the Treaty of Paris of 1783 led to Great Britian recognizing it as such.
      The US Constitituion just esblished a new form of government we were still a sovereign nation during the Articles of Confederation.
      Van Buren was born in 1782 so you could make the argument we weren't a country yet since the British didn't recognize our independence yet so it would still be John Tyler.

    Yes, you were correct. The world trade center was 2 buildings. WTC Building 1 & 2. There were 7 WTC in the vicinity, 2 were direct hits, others were damaged or destroyed by residual damage. The 3rd building was the Pentagon at one of there walls. The Pentagon is massive & one of the largest in Washington DC. The size will be outdone by the newly planned FBI building. You should one day visit or look up the Apple building. It's a 64 acre (1.2million square feet) ring building.

    It's very easy to super heat water in the microwave and hardly rare. It won't explode like a warhead. It'll sometimes tend to splatter violently.
    It's very easy to do this, just nuke water then sprinkle salt into it.

    Not only does The Pentagon have 5-sides, it also has 5-rings. Note the aerial view, you can see the 5 rings. Plus The Pentagon has 5 floors above ground (each ring also has 5 floors)....their are 2 floors underground. It was built that way to make it easier to go from one place to another. Room numbers include side number, ring number and floor. It takes awhile to get the hang of it. I was there for 2 years.

He was born in New York State to an immigrant Dutch family, so that's the first one he was exposed to - English came second.

    I always thought the Pentagon was built as it was because of the 5 branches of our military (now 6 btw). They were army, navy, airforce, marines, and coast guard (now spaceforce too). But I was wrong. The US airforce was created in 1947 and the building was built in 1943.
    The piece of land they had to work with was bordered by 5 highways. So they built it to fit the land. It has 6 zip codes and it one of the most secure building in the US.

    • @SharonToggle
      @SharonToggle 8 месяцев назад +1

      I live right near it - I once asked my phone where the closest Starbucks was and it tried to direct me to the one inside the Pentagon 😅
      Also, the highways around there are extremely confusing. Everyone ends up in the Pentagon parking lot by accident at some point. There is always a bored twenty-something with fatigues and an AK who knows you're only there by mistake but has to ask you anyways.

Mercury=Hermes, Venus=Aphrodite, Mars=Ares, Jupiter=Zues, Saturn=Kronos(Zues and his siblingd father) Neptune=Poseidon, and Pluto=Hades. Uranus is actually the Greek name of Kronos' father.
