You could really tell that Anthony became more & more comfortable as a host over the years. It’s no wonder that everyone loves him, he’s great.
Not everyone loves him. He's still boring to watch and personally, have chosen not to watch plenty of videos just because he's in it.
@@tronix6231 he’s the hardcore technical guy. His videos aren’t necessarily for general consumption
@@tronix6231 Pretty sure there are plenty out there, but this is the first negative comment I read about Anthony. Why do you find him boring? is it the topics he talks about, the way he delivers his ideas or?
@@tronix6231 but at least he's not like an OTT coke head like others lol
@@dr66666 I just don't think he brings the same energy as the others is all. Most of the stuff that they talk about is boring as hell but the energy and the humour keeps these videos watchable. 2 things that Anthony doesn't bring to the table for me.
Mentioning the training thing, ShortCircuit seems like the perfect place to have people who arent as used to being in front of the camera get some experience. Much less pressure, and a similar style.
Agreed, as long as they pick something they are knowledgeable about and can more instinctively talk about it the video should maintain the expected quality.
They seem to be using Tech Linked as their 'training ground' for people to get more comfortable, with a lot of the staff having given hosting a go.
the issue with ShortCircuit is that it is "unscripted", so that can be a challenge for someone uncomfortable
I love camera reviews
Riley is human golden retriever. Period.
Agreed
James too
I feel like this could be in an LTT reads mean comments 😂
@@MillerTM nothing wrong with being a golden retriever
@@MillerTM If anything it's endearing to call him a golden retriever
I am always impressed that most of the presenters weren't hired as presenters. They are just writers or editors or sometimes cameramen, who end up being really interesting presenters. Like I never see a video and say "oh man, it's this guy hosting...", I am always interested in what they have to say. And when it's someone who hosts rarely(like Yvonne(hope I spelled her name correctly)) I am like "WOW, LONG TIME NO SEE!"
Yes, the thought of not liking a host didn't cross my mind a single time with any of the LTT channels.
@@ghosthunter0950 Man, I remembered Taran getting thrashed on Techquickie when he first hosted a video. I felt really bad that day, glad to see most of us loved his presentation nowadays
What this basically tells me is that, with the right encouragement, people can do a lot of things even if it's not the reason they were hired for or even in their area of expertise, and that's a nice approach.
1) It promotes interpersonal relationships, as a crew that understands each other and gets along is necessary in the long-run.
2) It allows employees to learn new skills and gain experience in different areas, which can be useful in other jobs.
3) It combats that feeling of stagnation and repetitiveness some jobs can have.
4) They can take over over someone else, temporarily or otherwise, should the need arise.
A multi-faceted crew is a really useful asset for a company to have. It's a win-win all around.
It’s because they don’t hire annoying or dumb people
@@myaccount__7269 well they hired M-dog. RIP
I personally love Anthony's method of diving deep into the nitty gritty details.
Anthony gets me Bricked up
Imma just spit a fact.
Anthony is in the Video and its 99% sure to be a banger.
I watch every single video with Anthony, even if I have zero interest. He's my favorite host by far.
Same, i learn alot from him every time he speaks i feel
yeah but after hearing what Linus said, thats probably why he hasn't done too many Linux vids even though people are asking for it.
perhaps the ROI on an Anthony Linux tech video isn't as high as he needs it to be.
I like having the background guy mic’d up. Idk why but there’s something about podcast shows that have their background staff mic’d makes it nice to have an outside view compared to the main hosts.
Exactly why I dont really like it! Funny how that works haha.
Jamie pull it up
Ymh is the best for that
Yeah I do too, I think they should mic him more often and let him chip in every so often.
Personally so far I’m the opposite just haven’t liked him I pause the clip before he comes on to end it. In time maybe I’ll enjoy him but I haven’t got there yet.
Love Brandon when he's on short circuit talking cameras and geeking out about cameras you can FEEL his passion oozing through the video.
Sarah is a great host in my opinion! She always seems so excited to see new tech, while being one of the least geeky people at LTT. Go Sarah! ❤️
Same, always a pleasure to see!
Agreed, Sarah is really good, She's not afraid of camera, and so good to see a tech savvy Girl! Go Sarah!
Totally
I wish sarah and dennis to be in more videos but i know they are busy with their stuff >.
What I love about Sarahs videos is that they are mostly about so fundamentally different stuff that I find super interesting. Like the color card wheels for example, they are something where I was really like "yeah of course thats a thing, but I never thought about it. Thats super neat". It's a small glimpse into a non-tech-geek-world
I’m happy Linus is happy about extreme upgrade videos. I always enjoy them and always scared the newest one is gonna be the last one or something. Now bringbrack scrapyard wars tho!
@@Justin_Leahy yeah, Iknow, but whatever form it might be I will be happy!
Scrapyard wars! Where your budget is $1500 for a “budget build”
in this market? more like retail wars
@@Justin_Leahy They have actually said just that. With current market shortages even old out of date components would instantly break the budget and were talking like a gtx 970 being 500 USD.
They've stated on the wan show that it won't be coming back again. They're bored of doing it, It's impossible with the market as is, and it's too much work hiding who they are now when looking for parts.
I really like how this channel picks up on topics I’ve missed when I go through the time stamps on the full VOD.
As much as I love Linus, I also really like videos with Alex and Riley for the different vibe and energy they bring to videos. There's just something about Alex's warm, buttery voice and cadence that especially make his videos enjoyable to me.
Im always excited to se an Alex or Colin video because I know we are going to see some jank and improv. Something is going to go wrong and everything is experimental. Ever since the announcement of the full workshop the potential for jank has gone through the roof. I love it.
Too bad colin left, he was one of my favs
I kinda think Alex and Anthony could use their own spin-off channel.
@@BLAZINGwaffle56 WTF no way! how come?
@@marioa6186 wasnt disclosed, see Colins twitter for more info
@@marioa6186 he moved on to another company which makes software for laser cutters.
I loved Yvonne's energy in the Linus Cabin Makeover/Prank, would love to see her in more videos!
Idk if it was just presented this way, but to me it seemed like she was a bit too controlling with the house project as a whole. It seemed like Linus didn't really get any space to do exactly what he wanted without worrying about whether Yvonne would be ok with it, he always had to compromise something. Now I 100% understand that marriage is simply all compromises, but I think some of the compromise should have been more of Linus getting his own say.
@@Thebadbeaver9 Dude has a literal pink server rack in his garage, what other wife lets you have a pink server rack?
@@devnol exactly! LMAO, let alone pink, a slightly eccentric-colored piece of furniture wouldn't pass with most, so I'd say she's pretty understanding
@@devnol not saying she isnt understanding, but some things irked me. For example, he was worried about not using the mesh grilles on his new (very expensive) speakers because Yvonne might not like it. Also, if i remember correctly, he was allowed the server rack BECAUSE it was pink lol... and its in his basement in a storage/mechanical room, not the garage.
@@Thebadbeaver9 that's what compromises are! you can't just come in with your needs and wants and expect your partner to just accept them or be deemed "controlling". plus, that's literally their dynamic: he's the energy, the creative one, she's the pragmatic one, the accountant. not saying both of them are incapable of being creative or pragmatic, but that's the dynamic
I love the personalities of all the hosts. Anthony is my favorite, Riley and James and Dennis are great... That Linus guy though... Lol.
I remember early on Alex got a lot of hate in the comments when he was still pretty new on camera, and most of it was because he sounded very unnatural in the way he was presenting, pretty much like he was just reading off the script word by word almost. He definitely improved a ton though and i love watching him host stuff now.
He got better but he really did not gather any other knowledge or skills on the way :D
@@stefan514 hes still awkward...he cant talk without like 'half smiling' during everything he says. Its kinda weird. He also is extremely ignorant when it comes to real mechanical engineering, which was the reason he was hired.
I would say, it depends on the type of video at hand. If its one of the crazy videos where it bends into DIY. Alex does go half smile but its more due to nerves I guess.
On the short circuit Auto and Laptop reviews, he performs it's best
@@Thebadbeaver9 I love that about him. He’s so juvenile and it makes me smile
@@Thebadbeaver9 How do you know he is extremely ignorant on real mechanical engineering?
really wish dennis could host more. Every video of his is a banger
Same! Also Hoffman
On short circuit it’s typically:
Alex for laptop reviews
James for headphone reviews
Ploufe for Keyboards
Brendan for camera thingys
LTT has great hosts, everybody has some special skils and knowledge, its amazing. Brandon for camera's for example, great knowledge and voice. Anthony, what a powerhouse of knowledge. Maybe some more Sarah? :D
Sarah doing the secret shopper series was AWESOME. shes perfect for that. I would love to see more of her on videos as well.
No more Sarah she's been in enough terrible pc builds
Sarah, Anthony and Dennis are most entertaining imo. I hope we'll get to see more of them in the future
James, Alex, and Brandon have become real pros.
Linus, your quirky nature is one of the things that brought me to the channel. And the honest, nerdy, and quirky feel of your staff are one of the big reasons I've stayed with your channel for over 5 years now. Tech quickies are awesome. The fact that everyone seems to know what they are talking about while also being goofy and fun at the right moments, makes for an awesome community to watch.
Luke was my favorite host for quite a while and I was pretty disappointed when he stepped away from that tbh. The new hosts are fantastic though.
I love all of your hosts and they all bring something unique and show so much passion for what they talk about. Since the "linus retiring" livestream, something changed within LTT and this channel with its scale, production quality, writing, editing and frequent uploads is why I have become addicted to your content. Most of all, Linus seems to be thoroughly enjoying leading LMG and taking it to new levels all the time.
I love Anthony. He's super knowledgeable about the stuff he knows about and always calm.
I personally love Alex hosted/written videos. Just his nonchalant vibe while actively creating some of the most absurd things LTT has ever done is amazing.
Always love videos with Riley, Alex, & James! Really appreciate that you're willing to build up the people on your team!
I have to admit I love the intel extreme tech upgrades, 1.) to see what employees "borrowed" from the office, 2.) to see Linus cringe at people who still keep plastic on items they bought, 3.) to see the inside of folks houses and see how they'll use their new tech and gives me ideas for my place (although I don't have the budget to upgrade). Oh and the bonus of Linus dropping stuff on camera.
I have no idea how you can train people to become hosts so well. I don't know any other channel that does that so smoothly. When I see a new person hosting... Oh, nice! It takes a lot mental power to host for millions of people watching so thumbs up for everyone.
Riley is absolutely my favorite. He's just so quirky and #notlikeothergirls
Riley is one of the most charismatic personalities on RUclips, imo
You guys have done great at leading people and bringing out the best of them. As a LTT fan since the start, can really see you guys improve so much even with newer hosts, the videos can still, many times, feels pretty refreshing to watch. =)
Y'all have great hosts, always good to let your crew show their talents and passions.
I like it most when you riff off each other - you see that friendship and professional respect and with humour works really well
One of my fav videos is watching Brandon on short circuit talk about cameras. I am someone who doesn't really care too much about cameras but I could listen to him speak for hours about them and be very entertained.
I love it when Yvonne hosts tech quickie
I wish you guys would do more EV stuff too and not just cars. It's a pretty nich market so I understand if it's low on your list, but Taran really lays down the downsides of the EV bikes he's reviewed.
I really love this thinking behind these decisions and hte candidness to share it.
Side note, I love to see Sarah more. She's so fun and comes across so "every day user having fun exploring" like so many of us can be given the topic.
James and Riley are hosts that make it look easy.
Especially when the other one is the heckler. They've got such a great synergy
I love everything about Linus' videos, him and the rest of LMG seem like really solid people
I've been on a huge binge of the Intel Upgrade videos. Definitely agree they are super fun to watch, still educational and just seem like a great time for everyone.
Honestly, everyone I've seen from LMG is pretty good, ngl my fav is anthony 🔥
My two fav is Antony and Alex and Luke from the old days when he used to make videos
I totally agree with the message in this video seeing hosts who are obviously out of there comfort zone then go and talk about something so passionately really makes the videos great. You can feel the genuine passion from the person about a topic they're actually very interested even if it makes them uncomfortable and it helps give more of a community vibe rather than an entertainment source. Shows there's no fronts no fake personalities it's all genuine
My favorite thing about tech linked is actually the casting. I love it so much when it just feels like Riley saw someone walking around the set and was like "YO YOU GOT LIKE AN HOUR? COME UP HERE U GONNA SAY TECH NEWS"
I love how Dan has had more screen time, he is a hilarious guy
Yeah, personally he has been my favorite addition to the roster in a long time and right out of the gate. He seems super smart but also has a great sense of humor that is more my speed. Hope we get to see more of him.
working at your company sounds amazing and challenging at the same time its sounds so nice
Brandon and Camera tech is an amazing combo, you can feel how enthusiastic he is talking about the cameras like Linus when talking about server stuff
I love the Intel extreme upgrade series. It lets us get to know some more about the people behind the lives of the people working at LMG and makes it a bit more human. Plus it's really easily digestible and feels a lot more natural than your other content - not because the other content isn't natural. But it just hits different in a way I can't quite articulate.
Love ther intel home upgrade stuff, gave us a chance to meet the hosts more while also seeing practical uses of tech which has always been my favorite thing about LMT videos, seeing what yo would use if your money is actually on the line.
Dangit Linus, why are you such a wholesome good hearted lad. The positivity & energy is appreciated some times. Keep on keepin' on.
Hey Linus and team. I remember watching bon appetite kitchen videos religiously when they came out (pre controversy). Most of what made that channel so awesome wasn't the cooking, it was the interaction between hosts on set. Having people always in the background was such an awesome concept. Some of your recent episodes inadvertently started doing this. An episode where you were talking about phones or something and your Mac guy walked on set and started talking about stuff. Or when you were brought in to look at the new mac pro and display when Anthony was doing a review.
These casual moments of unscripted crew interaction are real gems. You could also look at what channels like Corridor are doing with their 'corridor crew'. I find myself more interested in the people you have around your office than the tech.
This reminds of presentations when you start uni, its hard and scary but by end of the course you just find it easy and natural. Kinda cool to see how they develop hosting skills within the company.
I love how with such a roster of hosts you can somewhat tell based on who's in the thumbnail the overall vibe of the video, like if I see Anthony I expect to learn something more technical. If I see Alex in the thumbnail I expect some level of jank
Gosh, the method of LTT is just incredible. You guys do an incredible job, not just empowering each other, but also running a functional business at the same time. We love you LTT!
Extremes upgrades and scrapyard for me hooked so hard 🎉
Both Linus and Luke's hostsona's have definitely improved over the year's have been watching from the start and heck would have never thought they would have gotten this big back than.
I love how you guys do videos
Anthony is the G.O.A.T.
I'm a casual fan, tbh I prioritise watching him and Linus.
Anthony, Riley and Johnathan are all superb
I always like seeing new faces on techlinked, I think you've said it before how the structure of that channel is great to let people try and host and be goofy.
So happy to know that intel extreme upgrade is doing good, i love those videos so much
Aw linus we love your energy (yelling ;) lol.
I love Alex. He seems like the kind of guy I could have a lot of fun in a machine shop with
With the technical information thing, when I watched Nicoles tech upgrade, when you bought the powerline Ethernet adapter, which I never knew existed, I figured I could've used the same thing, I'm on the second floor farthest room away from my house and I got like 5mb down and 1mb up, I bought the tplink like ax1000 adapter or whatever and I now get 55mb down and 10mb up, it actually saved me from going insane with how poor my wifi connection was
Is it something like the pokemon trainers? "Anthony I choose you!"
Everybody LOVES Anthony, AND JAMES and RILEY, AND COLTON (how to forget about Colton) hahaha hahaha. Damn LMG staff is so amazing !!
I think it's one of the things I like the most about LTT, there's a variety of people with variable opinion and variable personality. The videos are always entertaining in their own ways
Linus is such a cool guy. He is giving out advice that people pay thousands of dollars to know about business and leadership. Mad props to him!
My favorite video is Dennis Love laugh Liang. More Dennis!
I do love the Intel extreme tech upgrade my favorite is definitely Jame's video Linus and James just look like the best of friends in that video and I'm totally here for it.
I introduced my mother in law to the staff upgrade videos... fun content for all for sure!
I miss scrapyard wars, I hope it's getting to a point in Canada where you can do that again! I tend to forget not all countries are pretty much done with the big illness etc. Also absolutely love Intel extreme makeover. there's just something satisfying about the tech being part of the everyday and doing things we don't usually see like setting up surround sound or special tech you have no use for at the studio but someone might need at home. Trying to get value out of older parts etc. Would love to see an extended scrapyard wars where you start with a limited budget and have to flip tech until you can build the best possible gaming rig after like a month or 2 with like weekly updates from each team. That way you might even get stuff like fixing broken tech in the lab etc.
They've discussed this before on WAN show. The pandemic isn't the only thing that stopped it. It's also the astronomical prices of tech (well, that's also partly bc of the pandemic, but you get what I meant) This reason caused 2 problems for scrapyard wars - prices in the used market are too high for shoestring budgets, to the point that you may as well buy new; most people do not want to watch such things when they themselves cannot buy anything. They discussed these reasons recently, I think last WAN show.
@@annabethchase2569 I mean that's definitely not the case everywhere, but it might be where they are. But trust me there are always people who will find it interesting.
@@Naturalhighz I agree, the concept is still interesting and some people will still watch it, but these were the reasons they stated for stopping. And even if you disagree with the second reason, you have to agree that the used market is too expensive for scrapyard wars.
@@annabethchase2569 it was also becuase they started getting recognized wayyyyy too much to do it. People were going out of their way to put up amazing listings to get them to come by when somebody on the forum noticed they were doing a scrap yard wars
4:50 Like when you introduce cats by feeding them on opposite sides of a door
Anthony appearing twice in the thumbnail made me happy 😊
Anthony us a champion. Love hearing from him about Mac stuff.
I think at this point it doesn't matter who you have as the host, people will still watch and enjoy the videos put out.
I love the intel upgrades, brings me back to the old ltt projects like whole room watercooling.
Shout out to the Intel Extreme Upgrade series for being suuuper entertaining to watch. My second favourite series on the channel atm behind the House Renovation videos.
Sarah is wonderful when she hosts
100% love intel episodes . im intel fan boy i tried amd but drawn back to what works
Not only do you yell, Also drop everything hahaha
I love all the staff and each has its own style wich make it more interesting for different reasons. But specially having Anthony and Sarah I click as fast as I can
I definitely agree that Anthony has really come into his own. When he first started appearing in videos I was like "geez, not this guy" but now I absolutely love his videos.
RUclips has developed a distinct set of styles, specifically different to, subverting or outright counter to traditional media professional presentation. Even the channels that could make that step take the very wise decision not to, because this media type developed specifically to avoid that antiseptic, robotics, too perfect style.
We love the little quirks, the editor floating text editorials, smashcut inserts, conversions or catcalls to behind the camera. All the times it gets off script. A its fun, B it usually works as positive interaction, C it's objective examples of success without perfection, which new media success cases have made a general case of presenting a remarkably consistent international front in passing forward.
I've own a secretlab now since february 2020. Arm rests will crack, bad design if you put pressure on them if you use them while you shift your bodyweight or reposition yourself in the chair. Those got replaced within first 12 months though so maybe the replaced ones is better, havent swapped them yet lol.
Now the tilt mechanism has stopped working and I'm contacting secretlab once again to see if they have any parts for it that I can replace myself. I hope I dont need to send my chair away!
The "reality" series like Scrapyard Wars, Extreme Tech Upgrade, X gamers/editors 1 CPU, whole room water cooling, and even the server room upgrades & crises are all definitely of my favorites. And I think a lot of others would agree. I don't know about your metrics, but I'd guess these get relatively high engagement, because they have organic and realistic stories that viewers get invested in.
I do love the intel upgrades. It’s some of the best content and it’s great seeing the personality of the staff.
Some of my favorite personalities aren’t even on camera talent lol cough Dennis.
We need more videos with Alex. He's sympathetic to watch, and add a bit to his confidence, he has great potential
I don't know who this guy is on the end of the video, but let him voice all the sponsor messages in the future, his voice is way to satisfying.
I think they Linus adding hosts and expanding LMG was probably the best thing he’s done for the businesses success. I really like seeing the different hosts and different styles. It really expands the variation of the channel.
Keep up the amazing job You do! Guys and Girls - love You all! I'm a big fan of all Your channels!
Greetings to Linus, Riley^2, Jake, Anthony, James, Alex You guys have You own style, and stay with it!
Greetings to all the stuff we don't see! Keep Butts high ;P
My last few cents .. Riley - pls don't ever change! You are golden with Your acting!
I really want to see more of Alex with his workshop knowledge and skills!
To be honest I like that linus has diversified his staff. He has shifted linus tech tips to linus media group and it shows.. He has built up the people around him to where it doesn't feel like the video is missing something if he's not there..
I like hearing server/ Linux/ and super techy stuff from Anthony, linus is great for reactions and overall tech field stuff very generalized which is a great skill!
Riley for good humor and quick video formats...
On and on. They all bring something different and it's good for the company and the viewer.
Can you guys do a video explaining all of the channels you have and what they're aimed towards?
"200 years of game design experience"
I love the intel extreme tech upgrade videos!
I like Riley a lot hosting he pretty entertain
LMG just really seems like a great employer more and more
I was kinda expecting him to say that they just draw a name from a hat....
Sometimes personally I wish I saw some of the other hosts, writers and creators. Always love good old Linus but I’ve never been happier watching the others more so than now.
Watching somebody like Anthony go from very camera shy to being one of the best hosts on the show really demonstrates that you guys have a great work culture, but with what Linus mentioned about wanting to do more training I think personally what a lot of people in general but show host especially could benefit from would be if you offered to send everybody to one free college course of public speaking, because that is something that doesn't take away from work all that much and isn't all too draining but would provide a lot of value to your hosts and even new house in the future
My favorite part of intel extreme tech upgrade is “what has been stolen from the office this time”
Anthony needs his own deep dive tech channel. 👍
Riley and Alex are the dream team hosts
It's funny how they brought up how to measure ROI on Intel Extreme upgrade. It's definitely swayed my decision on my own build. Alternatively I've also went out of my way to buy specific products featured on the show.
