Thnx so much for all the SAHB tutorials you've done, fantastic job! Never did see them live, (I'm on the west coast of Canada) but i first heard them when I was in my late teens and they've been one of my all time favorite bands ever since (I'm 66 now). Seriously underrated and decades ahead of their time. Keep up the great work! VAMBO ROOLS, OK!!!!
Many thanks for a great lesson of a brilliant track. I managed to see the band atStoke football ground, supporting Yes. Alex had some terrific banter with the crowd!
Really enjoyed the video - including the tumbleweed story! For me, this song was one of half a dozen that turned me on to 'proper' grown up rock music back in the day. Probably about 12 or 13 when I first heard this, cranked up to the max, at at legendary rock night I used to go to. As you say, hairs stood up on the back of the neck for sure. They were indeed a fantastic band. I'll use your lesson as my guide to playing it. I've always wanted to but up to now it's been a case of 'ah cannae dee it'! Should be able to manage it now I reckon so big thanks for this. Cheers, man!
Cheers Percy, yeah whenever that pulsating tone starts at the beginning, that's it for me. This should easily be in every Top 10 Classic Rock Tunes of All Time, list. It;s that good. Glad you enjoyed the story - I like to fire one into a video every now and again, ups the "comedy" value, lol! Thanks for checking it out.
First time I heard SAHB was on the OGWT DVD from the early 2000s....Give My Compliments blew me away and now I'm hooked. You can hear a lot of Alex in Bon Scott's phrasing and lyrics
Nice one. Cool story too. Naz and SAHB always among my fave bands. I supported SAHB in about 1993 too. In Glasgow, all four of them with a singer whose name I don't remember. A younger guy, and they played a few new tunes. Ace memories!
I'm not scottish, but I love sahb ,AND when i watched Braveheart, I was rooting for the scottish....but not the backstabbing nobles .... and don't get me started on Rob Roy ...a trip to Scotland IS my bucket list
Thanks for the kind words, my friend! The SAHB were such a great band and it's a real shame that they never became huge outside of the UK. I guess with Alex on his usual form folks at gigs were probably sh1t scared! Scotland it a beautiful place, for sure, but folks don't come here for a sun tan, I'll say that 🤣
Thanks Paul, appreciate you checking it out. As this was a couple of years back I guess I was probably using a Pod XT Pro on a Marshall setting, direct to a Focusrite usb interface, recording with Ableton. Nothing fancy, just an old bit of kit. The guitar is a 1972 Gibson SG Deluxe, which works quite well for the SAHB stuff.
i remember buying NEXT for 50 pence way back in the day - a fantastic album. i see you didn't have a copy of Rock Drill. how would you rate that album?
Some great tune and playing on it, that's for sure - some weird stuff as well "Booids", for example. Quite a dark album, which may have been a sign that it was to be the last one.
@@DunsysGuitarWorld yes definitely a different kinda album from their usual direction. maybe they had different things in their minds at that period of time. Action Strasse is a great track. on a 'Harvey' side note, coming up to this particular time of year, when someone mentions "there's no lights on the christmas tree", i always tell them it's because they're burning Big Louis tonight. always gets a crazy response until i point them in the direction of SAHB and then they are quite literally hooked. I love that band. even Freddie Mercury pointed out that Harvey had inspired him for his showmanship'/ stage persona
Rock Drill is one of my favorite albums of all time. Critics hated it but for me, just about every song was powerful and almost hypnotic. I first heard it at the age of 15 and still listen to it today 40 years later. Rock Drill The Dolphins Rock and Rool King Kong Who murdered Sex? Water Beastie
Excellent.... great lesson to a great tune from one of the all time great bands! Zal went on to form Sin Dogs which unfortunately folded but the man Zal is working on new material for his new band "Orphans of the Ash". You can check out some Sin Dogs tracks on my channel... vfrspeed

I had the pleasure to see Alex and the boys quite a few times in the early seventies. One of my top five bunds of all time.
Thank you for including those crucial top notes that nearly everyone misses.
Thank ya - yeah, I think they're pretty important. There's just that ringing on top that's needed to make it sound correct.
Brilliant! Always loved this tune, now I can try and play it too. Thank you.
Appreciate you checking it out, Sir.

Brilliant band! Thanks a lot for checking it out.
Thanks for this ...luv this song and the band, had forgotten how to play so appreciate the reminder!
Thanks for checking it out Keith - one of my favourite songs of all time!
Once I learned this superb song it became my go-to riff to play at guitar stores to sound like I was half decent!
100% absolute classic!
Haha excellent!
what a wonderful guitar tone you have there..
Thanks buddy, appreciate you checking it out. Classic tune.

Cheers Sir - filmed in my early days, I'm hoping a wee bit more to the point in 2023, lol!
Great band💪

Man, I wish I did! He's absolutely one of my favourite players. Thanks a ton for checking out the video, much appreciated.

A real pleasure to be sharing SAHB songs. Another one coming up this afternoon.
Good on ya, Dunsy!
One of my top 10 songs, for sure! Hope you're well, Sir.
Excellent thanks ..... any chance of ‘Snakebite’ in full ..... or ‘to be continued’ 😀🤙. Vambo and more 😃😃
Cheers Phil. Definitely looking to do more SAHB.

Hi Thank you,, Thank you... Can you do a lesson for Framed? :)
Yeah, I could go over the main rhythm parts and the turnarounds, the solo is a wee bit beyond me, tbh. Zal is one of the best.
@@DunsysGuitarWorld that would be great! Thank you..
Hot City Symphony!
Vambo, coming to the rescue - love it!
