  • Video clips from the 2013 season showing horses and riders having a bad moment. Video by MovingImagesNW and from a variety of events from the year. PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING: Use the old adage - if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. These brief clips are only moments in time and do not give you, the viewer, the whole story. Some of these events are recognized events, but most of the bloopers here are from schooling shows - so give a little grace to the horse and rider as they are probably learning the sport or moving up a division/level. There could be a variety of reasons why the horse refused the jump or the rider fell off and making a snap judgement about the moment will not be tolerated. MovingImagesNW reserves the right to delete such comments. Please enjoy this montage and smile, because as horse riders, we've all been here and know exactly the frustration and challenge that comes with riding and showing horses. Song featured ("Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavigne) is not owned by MINW.

    2:16 - You really gotta award that rider on the dark bay outside the ring. She could have possibly saved all those other horses and riders out there by just doing what she did so quickly. It doesn't seem like much i guess, but if that horse had of got lose it would have been mayhem. Good job to the girl how blocked the horse from running off.

    The girl who got her foot in the stirrup at 2:11...very lucky that the horse stood still. A very good reason to wear a helmet in Western!

    The horse and rider at 2:15+ both walked away from the incident and were competing the next day. We assume they were both thoroughly checked out before doing so.

    This is why jumping scares the hell out of me, especially cross country. My horse is an ex-racehorse, so open spaces scream bolt.

    take your horses home , teach them some manners, and do some bare back riding so you can stay on., never seen so much easy fall offs, as in this video. First thing we learn't , at home , was, get on without a saddle, go get the cows , BAREBACK, and if you fell off you soon lean't to get back on. In New Zealand of course, ask Mark Todd.

    2:14 that one really made me cringe. Being on a bolting horse and knowing you're about to have one hell of a fall is one of the worst feelings of impotence and fear i've ever experienced. Great job staying on, though! I'm glad they're both okay :)

    • @dianabravestorm3004
      @dianabravestorm3004 10 лет назад

      i agree i have been on more than 5 bolting horses, each scare the hell out of me even if they have bolted before, i think my worst was when i was riding this bolting bucking pony that was meant for the little riders but was being naughty so i rode him around and to catch up instead of speeding a trot up with a slight kick or noise he would bolt to catch up, i stayed on calmly but when we were at a stand still and i was out of my stirrups to stretch being in between 2 horses so i thought it was safe, he then bolted to the left and ran round the arena, i had no stirrups and struggled to find seating and flung my reins about like an idiot then i was swung into a wall , i was not hurt but when a horse bolts it scares the crap out of you, some of these riders got up so quickly, it takes me ages to get over the shock lol people think im hurt xD

  • @gruenzeugs

    I really like the song-choice since riders should be more supportive to those who have had accidents or are struggling... sometimes it's hard to get back on, but with people around you who understand your fears it becomes a lot easier... "Don't be such a sissy" or other thing like that surely don't help anyone!

  • @horsegirl07
    @horsegirl07 9 лет назад +1

    Holy shit!! That one at 2:16 was crazy! I'm so glad they were both able to walk away. Then the one where the 4 driving horses went into the tree scared me too. That's alot of horses freaking out then to control them. Driving accidents are almost in my opinion worse than some riding ones.

  • @gingercox6468
    @gingercox6468 7 лет назад +1

    This has been me soon many times. Sure the horse is naughty sometimes, but some of these you can see the rider is not really riding and the horse can feel that. Once ur weight is in the air, perfect time for a buck.

    My mom said to me after I fell off “If your in a situation like that make sure you try to hang on don’t let go try and climb back up”
    I know yeah it’s kinda the obvious thing to do but it’s a little difficult when the horse is going at quite a speed

    The thing is we will eventually fall off once or twice while riding I have been ridding for 11 years and have fallen more than once,we can't be perfect.Im saying to all those people who say "Stupid people they just can't control their horse" it's because it's gonna happen once in your life while ridding

  • @rosesmith6208
    @rosesmith6208 5 лет назад

    funny some of the horses are like I am free!!! free!!!! there are alot of reasons for refusals and falls, the rider might not have a good independant seat, pressure and nerves to perform, pain in the mouth from jerking the reins, sometimes the horses are just tired, their legs hurt from all the jumping practice theydid, the shoes make them worse, horses are not designed for alot of jumping, there is alot of weight on those front legs including riders and saddles. also horses can see or sense things we cant and spook, or dont like their view blocked, they need their heads free to focus on objects, all kinds of reasons for refusals and falls. that one horse looked like after the rider fell off, hey what are you doing on the ground did we get attacked by a predator or something?

      the little mini pulling the fat lady not good I am a fat lady and would never ask that little guy to pull me around I would be more inclined to put him in the buggy and pull him instead. I would have a large pony pull me. something that is 3 times my weight.

    Oh my god a broken saddle that's tragic! No-really is they cost a lot and if that was a favorite saddle it was well broken in and enjoyed or it might have been a new saddle who knows anyway it is bad but better than a broken ride lol or broken horse
