Diesels can just use their torque whilst petrol needs to use momentum to do the same job. But if the track is very bumpy like here and difficult to manoeuvre in, then momentum will be halted so diesel is better.
A decent horsepower petrol will still have good torque & will crawl a hill as good as a diesel. I have a Patrol 6cyl TDI Ute & a Lexus 4.7 V8 petrol wagon & much prefer the petrol for overall performance. The diesel actually uses about the same amount of fuel as the petrol, if not more. Personal choice I guess. 👍🏼😊
@@kenworth159it doesnt. The whole fkn point with diesels is to create more torque at lower RPM’s Thats like saying a petrol and diesel engine Will use the same amount of fuel over a Long distance. You need a lot more horsepower and therefore more fuel in a petrol car. Like the fiestas I tried myself were of the same HP output and yet one had way more torque than the other without more horsepowers
The fuel consumption difference is a neat little factor at play here, that V8 just about redlining up the hill with the diesel just chugging along. For this type of track I’d go with the diesel, for top end performance and sand & gravel I’d pick the petty for fun points 😂

Having a high hp petrol v8 for off-road is all good until you snap an axle. I had an old short wheel based patrol with a 427 in it & used to snap axles constantly it was fun for a bit but it gets old real quick when you're constantly having to do repairs while everyone else isn't.
I'll tell you what's better knowing how to drive in different terrains. Knowing when to let eric out of your tire and put air back in it, knowing to have the proper tire tread for the terrain you're trying to conquer

Diesel is a lot better for such vehicles! Firstly - you have more torg - probably 25% for the same displacement.. Secondly - the consumption is definitely around 30% less!

For comparison sake, petrol/gasoline will make more horsepower on average but! A diesel hence thanks to its design will make more torque and when it comes to anything physical as in offroading, hauling, or towing? You need torque not power. Power is good but if you can't pull with it you'll spin your wheels out and that's it. You need that force to pull/push in the end plus fuel economy, diesels are way more fuel efficient
Nothing to do with fuel type but petrol had open front diff and diesel had LSD or locked front. A good driver will be able to get further with less rpms and sudden shock loads to drivetrain. That petrol is way more likely to snap an axle or cv
For this use diesel is better, for racing on a flat road petrol destroys diesel. It’s all about the usage, and diesels have way more torque than petrol.
Go check out my other awesome content and drop a sub!
Petrol definitely sounds better. lol
Tires, 4wd system, weight, balance, wheel base and width are all more relevant questions than fuel type.
Don’t forget ground clearance
But the question isn't. What drivetrain is better. Its what fuel is better
But the course doesn't test the parameters.. @@bodandron5255

Dont forget

The big thing with diesels off road is the low down torque too
@@bathurstsw20 V8s also are great for low down torque

Higher torque
Torque and better swimmers 😊

DIESEL POWER 💪
Almost all 4x4 diesel got runway engine and it fail 😂
True true
DISEL POWER
HELL YEA 💪💪💪
@@wellplayedwho9491 because bigger energy
Looks like some CREB track action there. ❤
I was thinking the same thing. That lovely red clay is insane when wet. 😮😊
Loved the extra cab petrol
Decently modified TB48 all the way. So Petrol PATROL 🙂
td42 is way better 😂
That LS sounds mean as fuck
A decent mapped diesel to. Make sure we can breath tomorrow also black smoke is a loss of power and fuel
Well petrol sounds better. All else subjective.
Nah, nothing beats the whistle of a turbo diesel
Petrol = recreational
Diesel = workman
The sound ❤❤❤
Diesel has more torque but now that it matters all that much in mud😅
of corse diesel, had lot more tork than a petrol! definitly diesel!💪🏻 but petrol had more sound that i like more!
All the bigfoots have been scared away!
Definitely some weight discrepancies between the 2.
What's better is Landscape video 🤣
haha made for reels which is for the phone mate! I have a full video on this via the channel
This looks like amazing fun...
Id go for diesel because they look tuffer and are better on fuel
Petrol is better more strong and fuel gadge doesn't go down as much diesel uses a lot of fuel

And is also more reliable because of lower rpm
Diesel simply because of the smoke trail.
How butt hurt are the diesel drivers getting. Petrol has way more power every day of the week.
They were not given the same power and torque. Petrol has a V8 engine while diesel has a V6 engine. So I prefer a diesel engine
The type of engine isn't the limiting factor.
This is literally my dad's habit goin out with his friends
Diesel any day, every day...
The answer is always diesel and the it doesnt matter why.
Torque wins every time
I think tires and depending which type of 4wheel drive you have play a big factor
They sound like beasts
ill be moving in sydney by febuary nxtyear ,can give me some advice as a single lady movin in? tia 😉
One of the more stranger comments I have received
Grew up on a petrol Holden rodeo so have to go with the petrol on this one
V8 turbo diesel patrol
Diesel

Diesel. Always. More torque at lower rpm.
All that matters is the driver

Diesel all the way
I would have a v8 patrol built tuff and a diesel would be the the go every where 4wd
Which one is the diesel?
Diesel if there is no emissions stuff. Otherwise petrol.😁
Did bro really put a snorkel on a petrol engine? 😂
V8 sounds hot
Go the petrol boi😂
I would say that it all depends on the situation.
Damn rhat first one sounds sick
Aussies know diesel is better on these tracks. Petty for high speed desert or beach driving.
Petrol has more rippems for fun but in This case he's running open diff, fix that and he wont have an issue with a hill like this.
I wanted a jeep before watching this vid. I still want one but am more aware.
Both of them are good. Petrol sounds like monster truck and diesel sound like turbocharger lol
Diesel engines are built different. One word savage ❤
Boosted petrol for mud..... boosted diesel for crawling
V8 gas vs 4 in line diesel???
To me diesel is better
Diesel

Nissan... Nissan Patrol.

Gas. You can hit it hard with absolutely no worries about a runaway engine
What century are you contacting us from?
Petrol
If they both can do same, then petrol. I hate that tractor sounding noise on a nice car.
Diesal, it's easier to get in small or rural towns.
Pay to win either way
Diesels are better because there peak torque almost near idle
They need to chang the fliter in diesal car the it will be much more stronger
I prefer diesel.
Stuffing up tracks in the wet, restricted access forever.
Diesel definitely both sick 4x4 tho
Diesel by far stronger engine Blocks and more tq as well
Diesel = missle we want mussle
