I can relate to that last theoretical question you asked about if the drive was worth it. As the years go by I'm redefining my definition of a long drive to catch fish. I'm going further and further away to capture the experience I'm looking for. And you know what? I don't mind it. Being out on the open road for hours gives me a feeling of freedom and peace. My dear Nick, you have so much talent. Keep it up. I'm going for my 2nd brain tumor surgery this year November 7. Not cancer, just an aggressive rogue tumor smashing my brain stem. Looking forward to a LOT of your awesome videos while I'm off work to keep me company.

You should try the Maumee , Sandusky or Portage river after the White Bass have spawned
As the gar come up to spawn from Lake Erie and some stay till fall
You could catch some HUGE Gar , I use a bow and fish arrow
Just don't eat the roe
We got several this last summer upstream of Waterville that were about 6 feet long

What u call shortnose gar here in Texas we call those alligator gar and you should come down here and catch a few they get up to 5 to 8 ft couple hundred pounds
