I personally love how Gears 5 is pretty much a showcase of what became of locations from older gears games. Like Oscar's village being in the bones of the rock worm from 2 and the snow map being both the grindlif drop point from 2 and the new hope facility from 1. Also, RIP Lizzie. The Carmines have consistently been my favorite characters in the gears franchise and I wish more of them got to live like Clayton.

Carmine (fourth brother), (E)lizabeth 'Lizzy' Carmine, and (G)ary Carmine. All that's missing is (F) Carmine).

Oh! I've noticed that you skip picking up heavy weapons. Heavy weapons (Salvos, Mulchers, most things that are bigger than your torso) is a heavy weapon. You can just pick those up without having to trade any weapons that you have. Pistils can also only switch with pistols as well, same with grenades. I hope this finds you and help you out! I just want to help and see you mow down the Swarm :) but only if you want DeeBee

Yeah the Carmine family cannot catch a break. If I hear or see a character named Carmine I just wait for the dumb way they die but Gears 5 had me sad for her

Lizzie Carmine was Clay Carmine's niece...which i guess means that Clay's brother survived the war (there were four Carmine brothers originally; Clay, Benjamin, Anthony and another that was unnamed). Clay and the unnamed one survived...Benjamin and Anthony died. There was also a Carmine mentioned in Gears 4 who died but i don't know how he was linked to the family. I've always seen the Carmine Family as an example of typical soldier families...they send their entire family to fight out of misguided honour and usually end up paying the price for it.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but JD was completely in the right in this game. They're supposed to evacuate a settlement before the swarm kills anyone else, and a soldier under JD's command isn't following orders because they want to go on a personal journey of enlightenment. ...it's stuff like that that makes me realize why the took the "of War" out of the title.
The COG focus on their air force more than almost anything else, and as such Ravens are very, VERY expendable, the only real loss is the pilots, so in the games the developers can kill as many Ravens as they want, and still have spares.

I think they just wanted a reason to get to Kait's story, cause while we all adore and love JD, he was hilarious in Gears 4 and fitted in with the previous characters without changing up the formula too much - kait always felt like the more interesting character of the three. Poorly written reason to switch but an expected one nonetheless.

Del says Kait told them her secret but she only did that after everything went to shit, if she had said something before then Oscar might not have died. But I get why they pushed JD away, he gave the order to fire on what Del percieved as innocent civilians. That event rocks JD pretty hard, he and Del leave the COG and JD spends Gears 4 trying to be a hero, to live up to his fathers imagine, to restore his fathers faith in him and to restore his faith in himself. He does stupid stuff to try and undo what he did, like the Silo mission at the start of 5. But eventually doing reckless shit bites him in the ass and instead of saving people he has to watch his friend Lizzie die right infront of him. Which destroys him even further and turns him into a by the book type of guy, if he just follows orders then he wont feel so guilty. Then a big event rocks Kait and her and Del leave to do reckless shit and try to fix things. Kinda history repeating itself.
I know it's 2024 but Lizzie didn't deserve to die, we need a remake where whe survives like, Clayton will be more sad than he already was after he lost his brothers

No I think it's the recent VOD he did on stream where he underestimated the Gears 5 Graphics you can tell because he began skipping all side quests for the snowy Tyrus mountain. So sad, because Botw also has snowy mountains which he finds beautiful. :(

The part where Kait gets to control the Swarm is the closest thing we'll ever get to a Beast Mode like in gears 3

New Hope never showed up in 1. It showed up in 2. We visited it right after we killed the riftworm that eventually became Oscar's village.

No I think it's the recent VOD he did on stream where he underestimated the Gears 5 Graphics you can tell because he began skipping all side quests for the snowy Tyrus mountain. So sad, because Botw also has snowy mountains which he finds beautiful. :(
