When I first played this and got to the section with the Matriarch I was like “Oh bugger- it’s a big Berserker!” Knowing full well I was going to have to fight it (shudders in flashbacks to the tomb in the first game)!!
You'll probably enjoy the Hivebusters DLC campaign because it's short but linear and focused on story and awesome set pieces, not unlike GoW 1 through 3.
And it helps that Hivebusters looks amazing and has some of the best vistas in the GoW franchise
you mean not unlike Gears 5 story that is utter shit
@@GokuFlyfam heyheyhey
It's better than Tactics's story. Found like four retcons in that game
@@GokuFlyfam That would mean the story is similar to Gears 5. The term is *"NOT unlike."*
@@GokuFlyfam I don't think you understand double negatives. "Not unlike" means "like."
I been waiting for so long just for you to play gears 5 again.
Ik right
Same here
Yup
You’ll love the final act of the game, there aren’t any ‘open world’ bits
That's a fact
The best part
I personally loved the open world bits.
But I love the open world. I hope they bring the skiff back for the next game and make it buoyant so we can use it on the ocean.
Thats why they made the open world side quest optional but i enjoyed the aspect of it
Notice how the time jump is a few weeks. Paduck says "A few weeks ago the Swarm got smarter, starting making weapons & armor."
Personally I really enjoyed the side missions for Gears 5. I really appreciate the background stories and world building they put into that game as a fan of it's extended universe.
Same! And some people say that the open world is empty...
"I don't trust that toaster.."
Halo has taught you well through your experience with 343 Guilty Spark.
I'm liking the UIR their weapons, facility, vehicles, armor.
You should definitely play the new DLC campaign when you’re done with this
There’s a new DLC campaign??? Holy fuck I’m hopping on
I actually like gears 5 of exploration and frequent lore items that can be found.
I don’t but I don’t mind it because you don’t actually have to do it so people shouldn’t complain to much about it
*Satellite gets stuck*
Fahz: "...someone give it a push".
DB: *Shoots the satellite*.
Safe to say DB should not visit any country's space program and have a gun.
"Shock the generator?" *Proceeds to shoot the generator*
"I'm sure that's not gonna be a problem."
Oh no. . .it's gonna be a BIG problem.
Cool thing with the visions/voices. If you play coop, only the person playing kait experiences them.
Spoilers for this episode:
I wish Niles had preserved the Locust Boomers which would really Iconic to the previous less colorful dust filled trilogy :)
love you’re gears of war content, i started watching you when you started halo. and i’ve been here since and i’m glad you started playing gears it was my childhood favorite game also halo was too.
I am now influenced by DeeBee to say preeeeesent when I throw a gernade
There’s a lot in the open world you’re missing. There’s a lot of hidden weapons, upgrades, and lord hidden about that you’re missing.
I enjoyed the "open world" because it just broke up the pacing a little. And it allowed me to enjoy a bit of a reprieve from the break-neck action and just take in the scenery - which is gorgeous.
I like the exploration on the "open-world" parts. You're missing a lot of the side stuff.
Same it kept things interesting for me
After finishing the campaign, the skiff sections feel more like padding to make the game feel longer than it really is.
Still loved the game and can't wait to see you play the next act but...yeah, not a fan of the open world bits.
The more focused Hivebuster dlc campaign gameplay makes me more excited for Gears 6.
Yeah wish you could attack or avoid swarm patrols until the hive they're coming out of is entirely eliminated
@@feralprocessor9853 imagine as you took control of areas COG or UIR patrols would go around and get skirmishes with Swarm.
Capture the high ground to unlock mortar fire support that can help you take out bigger targets or groups of enemies.
Yeah. Sadly ingame kait was going rogue against the Cogs orders and the UIR were too spread thin to have an organized military.
Honestly I actually like to drive the skiff in the ice area with the Phendrana Drifts theme from Metroid Prime and just chillax with that combo of gameplay and musicc
31:26 that caught me off guard 😂
Nice to know a fellow gear fan noticing Paduk! For me, have a lot to catch up on!
Yeah my man Paduk has returned. His my second favorite character the first being Carmine.
F for Carmine
@@feralprocessor9853 f
What about Marcus, Baird or cole???
@@ahmedmohamedabdelhakemmoha9760 they r ok but Carmine and Paduk r my favorite
Which Carmine? Haha
41:07 when the fire nation attackes
Happy New Year, Dee Bee Geek!!!
Looking forward towards your AWESOME vids here in 2021.
I'll leave my like just because of that "yei" and that meme face of you on minute 6:13
Should be an emote on his discord
I'm loving the gameplay, but the one thing that frustrated me was the fact that whenever your down you almost never stimed to get back up I was screaming the whole time 😂
I love how the Mount Kadar Level went back to the more survival horror type vibe of the first and parts of the second game. People forget this series was inspired in part by Resident Evil 4
100% agree with you on the "open world " aspects. It ruins the passing.
I believe the game offers the choice to ignore all the exploration and go straight to the main quest if you want to have linear experience. I played it in that way once and it was great.
When the world needs him the most
He uploaded a new Gears of War video
Great video man!
Finally I’ve been waiting for you to continue
Gears is in my Top 3 favorite video game franchises ever and I 100% agree with what DB says at the end
If you care enough about being Stealthy I've found if you fully upgrade it you can basically clear out entire rooms without ever being revealed. The final upgrade to the Stealth module refills the timer with every takedown.
ROFLMFAO AT "Yeah, shoot the toaster!"
The last part about more action when it is more linear, I kinda agree. That is also the beauty of the Call of Duty single player experience.
"I finally went back to gears 5 and.." I regret it already lol, Dee bee you're face through that whole hour was so funny, you look so bored like you was about to fall asleep.
U missed a side missions when I were going to the other side of the bridge. Its the one right next to the bridge with cannons.
I share you opinon on Gears 5 at the end...althougg I do like the diolague inbetween the skiff ride where they talk about thier lives or adding in extra story things to make it less of just scilence...i think it was a good try...what they could have done- and mayne you agree with me- but maybe random ambush encounters where a pouncer jumps out at you from the sand/snow/bushes/trees and then a few other smaller swarm troops follow after could happen where it interupts and imedditaly puts you in a battle
Glad to have you back
That was Dee's 6th Beserker fight in the Gears series lol
7th*
DBgeek it was about time you continued this awesome game,i understand what u say about the open world aspect but its done on purpose, you don't have to do any side missions as you clearly have not but its very nice to have them and to have something extra to do like find Parts to level up Jack and collectibles and some legendary version of weapons that are throught the different Acts. They have put this Element to bring a Change of Pace and that is Very nice to go from all out Battle to the beautifull scenery and the travelling and story telling and quietness to show contrast and give us some variety and something different to change the Pace of all that Battle.
Also i would put difficulty on Experienced as it was throught most of the game since you have played all 4 Gears games and i think you are experienced enough by now you just need to take some cover more and use your/Jack Abilities more.
I find the game to be amazing, one of the best in the series but I also see your point. If they can find a balance in the next installment it could be the best in the series 🙂.
I've been looking forward to this
26:15 thanks Del very cool
My 3rd favorite irish youtuber/streamer.
I've been waiting long enough to see this
Ohh, when I had given up hope on you continuing to play Gears 5... Praise the sun
Yes finally! I missed the stream since I've been playing cyberpunk for like a month
The Irish Spartan returns!!!!
god dang i love deebeegeek
Been waiting for this
Games try to much to be everything now, I agree with what you said, the Gears formula worked for everygame that came before it, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
The open world does just feel like filler and chore, to the point where I dreaded having to get on the skid again, and the side missions distracted from the main story and the sense of urgency.
It's not a deal breaker, just could do without it.
Paduk Garcia is back 💯
The man is back
Pls Dee Bee Geek play the hivebuster dlc campaign on gears 5 you will love it so much
The open world desert part in gears 5 is a painful experience
Hi Dee Bee!
I believe the game offers the choice to ignore all the exploration and go straight to the main quest if you want to have a linear experience. I played it in that way once and it was great.
Exatamente!
Finally been waiting for months lol
The skiff parts in the cosmodrome aren’t as bad, the part in the mountains when you have to track those signals was really the worst of it. Also once you finish this act of the game it goes to a more traditional structure and there’s some all time great gears levels
That part about the open world, I agree it did feel a bit dragged out, I would appreciate the side missions more if it adds value to the story.
You will love the final act.
You fought the matriarch the hard way. You were supposed to shoot the ice and lead it into the cold water. At least you got it done.
For me the sandbox openworld was more of a relaxation between missions and time to get my head around what just happend.tbh my theory is the made unbelievable skid mechanics and thought welp gotta go openworld to enjoy the driving.
I agree 100% with your assessment at the end of the video. The open world/sandbox aspect of this game felt like a way to pad out the gameplay. While the dialog and banter between characters during those times DID help with building their relationships and comradery, it never felt wholly necessary. The beauty of the original Gears of War and Halo trilogies were always the urgency and fleshed out character building within the games. Newer games (especially Gears and Halo) suffer from the story telling that REQUIRES other media to fully understand. You have to read the novels to gain insight into what's going on during and between the games. I feel like the games are dampened by that. The industry relies too heavily on open world aspects. That's what killed Halo Infinite for me. Sometimes, all these games need are to be emotionally impacting while keeping you in the fight.
Personally, I thrive on story. The roller coaster of struggle, loss, and triumph. Tears, joy, and engagement. Open worlds slow the pacing to a point where by the time I DO re-engage in the story, I feel like I've lost the urgency that was intended. But as Deebeegeek said, I feel like I have to do the side things. Like they'll somehow going to prepare me for something down the road that I wouldn't otherwise be able to hurdle on my own. But that has never been the case. It hurts to know, and it is a continual pain to experience. I hope that Gears and Halo can somehow rediscover their roots while still moving forward in fresh and engaging ways.
Litteraly was thinkikg of unsubing for the lack of xbox content but stayed because I really like DeeBee and Its Humor...and Im glad I did
The awaited return
YES
I waited a year for this lol
Violets are blue, roses are red, nobody has finished this video yet
Facts
Yeah I think that's how a lot of us felt about gears 5. Tis good though
Never shouted shoot the ice so much in my life!
Enjoying your channel, where's the final act? you'll love that one for sure
weird? i had i was wondering why i did'nt saw your channel in my sub list apperently i was not subscribed anymore BUT NOW I AM! XD...again
Gears 5 and Deebee 😃👍
Yaaaay finally!!!
You definitely need to try the DLC for this game.
Matriarch scared the shit out of me just like the berserker from gears of war 1
At long last.. the return.
I'm afraid to feel like you feel about the "open world" part of this game when I play Halo Infinite. I did enjoy Gears 5 though but I would like them to go back to a more linear game with the next one.
hopefully next vid is legend of zelda
I agree with everything you said at the end. The "open world" feels extremely tagged on. I'm sick of the gaming industry and their obsession with turning everything bigger than neccessary. The highlights of the game lie where the series has it's strong suit but there us so much padding in between all of it. The best part of the game was when you are playing as JD and it's so shortlived.
curious dumb question...Why do people hate open-world games?
2:51 "Del died" xd
Hes back
Play Hivebusters, me and a lot of folks found it even better than the Main Campaign and is Way Shorter but Substantial. Great video, as always :3
Best RUclipsr I know
49:47 why does kait sound possessed lmao
Focus on the story, the last act I hope you spend it completely in the next live, it is the best :3
The hivebusters campaign you will enjoy because it is linear and it gives me hope for the gears 6 campaign but for me i enjoyed to gears 5 campaign
I really like Gears 5 this is a super polished GOD tier game. The new downloadable campaign is 🔥🔥🔥
Mi carazón está completo ahora 😭
Nos hiciste esperar demasiado 😭
warning Dee bee geek: the 8th january will release a surely new awesome cinematic for League of legend
Finally!
Hey DBG, keep up the good work
I feel like the "open world" part could work if they developed it a lot more, maybe if there was more to do and more customisation. If it had a lot more side missions and customisation like Tactics I think it could be really good.
Or leave the main games linear and just make an open world spinoff gears game on it's own, I think that would be cool.
I thought u r making video about luffys gear 5 😂
Quite the break
It'll be fine.
Can't remember if you have but you should react to all the Metro trailers.
Can someone link the playlist?
I just went from leaving new hope to this?
Finally...
what is stronger. the matriarch or a lambent berserker?
