Maybe it would make transportation costs lower, or it could just be a marketing scheme. “Hey your Texas beer is cheaper in Texas!” I do agree with you though Special K. I’d rather buy some good ol’ Busch if I’m going for a beer like this.

I just got to Texas and working at a liquor store for the last few years in the south (ga) this beer was a new one on me. I thought the ppl of Texas were born with a Shiner in their hand or at least that's what I was lead to believe. But being here now and seeing what my great Texas customers reach for it's been mostly Lone star ⭐. I had to try it. I agree it's not special per say but it's clean and crisp and gets the job done for cheap. It's different enough for me to be called a Texas original tho. It reminds me of a Coors Banquet more than anything else which I've always enjoyed when at a party. Cheers folks
Just bought a 24 pack for 16.99 in Austin. Blows away PBR and Other Macros. Was actually the 2nd biggest beer in TX behind Pearl which was a better brew. Thanks for the review y'all!
I'm sure it's a lot better in draft form, it was also way over priced. Though I'm sure it's a lot cheaper in Texas. Which is weird because its made by pabst blue ribbon.
Well as a 21yo living solo. Lone star is great because it's next to the 20 other 6 packs for $7.99. So it's always in stock/dirt cheap/ A solid 5 1/2 ngl
As a native Texan take it from me Lone Star is not the "national" beer, although good for a cheap night . But it's owned by Pabst which is Illinois based. When you want a solid Texas brew you need to try Rahr & Sons, Karbach, Saint Arnold, or Real Ale. Only then will you have experienced what Texas has to offer. Cheers.

Since I've consumed much more beer than I did 1 year ago, I figured I'd add to my reply lol. I'm in Texas. Around here, this beer goes for 5.99 a 6-pack or 9.99 a 12 pack. Same price as PBR, Busch, Keystone, etc here. That being said, it's one of the best cheap beers. If I'm getting a cheaper beer, I'm probably getting this or Busch. Overall though, it is very meh. Just another adjutant lager. Nothing special about it; it's biggest strength is not having any offensive flavors. 6/10 for me, only giving this average tasting beer an extra point for price, and the fact it's the same as Miller, Budweiser, Coors (which are a few dollars more expensive) to me

It is not as sweet as PBR nor does it have the PBR funk and for that I am appreciative. I love the Lone Star bready aftertaste. It reminds me of bowling alley and pizza place beer of the 1970s. Yall should do a PBR~Lone Star~Schlitz taste off.

Lone Star is cool, and they have pretty cool camo cans around hunting season which me and my buddies get a kick out of, but at the end of the day, you're right. Nothing wrong with regular beer (bud, Miller,etc) but I always encourage people to check out their local craft brew scene. Its about supporting the local economy, great beer and friends, I think Anheuser Busch has enough money lol.
WOW 8.99 I get it here in Wyoming for 5.69 a 6 pack. Budweiser here is 7.99 a six pack. I don't think I would buy lone star for 8.99 unless you haven't tried it. My Brother lives in Ft WQorth and down there 4 packs of pounders are like 3.40 and for a 6 pack of bottles it is like 3.99. Our beer prices in Wyoming are usually right on par with yours plus or minus a buck. They are gouging you on lone star bad. It is way better than regular Budweiser to me and the only Bud I like is the new special edition Freedom lager they released and it is 8.99 a 6 pack here. Thank you for the review.

I know I'm late to this, but this is like the cheap budget Texas beer. It undeservingly costs more outside the state so I'm sorry you paid that much for it. I don't know many people that their go to is a loney. It's a Texas staple like a shiner bock but it's meh, its like a Hamm's or PBR. If these simple/mellow style beers like pilsners and lagers is what your into and you wanna try a different Texas beer, give Crawford Bock a try from karbach or fireman's 4 from real ale. I'm personally on the other side of the spectrum, I love super hoppy beers but when I want something mellow for floating the river or working outside I typically go for a Crawford Bock.
We have a company called Altech In KY, they are a dogfood company As well as a Brewery, Kentucky ale, best known for their Bourbon barrel stouts. Every person in KY knows the brewery and most people love them, us not so much.

This is a classic lager. More flavorful as far as lagers go. Definitely crisp and refreshing. Especially great for the hot weather we have here.
Hank Hill approves but prefers Alamo Beer.
