Some of these commentators are doing a heroic job of sounding excited.
Also a heroic job of not criticising the players.
GK is the position that really shows the difference in athleticism between men and women in my opinion. Sure, outfield women players look like they're running through mud, but GK's are always just so clumsy and uncoordinated. The jumping, diving, and reaction times of male GKs is almost super-human. If you've ever seen an untrained man playing goal, and how lost and uncoordinated they are, well that's what professional female GKs typically look like.
Yeah as a goalkeeper seeing women goalkeepers not dive like us men is so awkward I dive and jump pretty high and I’m only 5’7 and these women are taller than me and have less hops

I won't dispute what you say. So let's agree there is a deficit in coordination, agility, power, explosiveness, etc. Now consider the avg height of women GKs at high competitive levels. Now think of Courtois, Neuer, Alisson, Emi Martinez are at 6'4" or taller. I think the Chile women's GK is 6ft. She is about the tallest, yet she and every one shorter have to defend the same size goal. Just saying.
@dipthongthathongthongthong9691 Right, but it's not about height; it's about the athleticism, or lack thereof. They just look so awkward (akin to when a guy with no GK training tries to play there). Ochoa is only 6ft tall. Typically, the shorter players are MORE agile, not less. I expect Ochoa has faster reaction times than Courtois (who makes up for his slower reactions by being HUGE).
@@toddmacadam3888 I'd say it's about the athleticism AND the height. I agree, the traits you've mentioned are missing in many of the women GKs. Being short relative to the frame of the goal doesn't help. If you're an above avg athlete but you have height and a wing span you are taking up more space and thus will have a better chance at reaching incoming shots. Victor Valez and David Ospina are barely 6ft and they had pretty good careers too. But I read that academies around the world see the 6'3 and good with the ball at the feet as the prototype. The other problem with women in this video is the poor starting position and reading angles.
I also was that bad when i used to play as goalkeeper. Being 6 years old didn't help.

If ronaldo shoots at you there is no catching that ball just punching and players nowadays shoot with a lot of power more often

As a GK myself this is pain in my eyes😢 they are unlucky sometimes but most of them are just bad goalkeeping.
The goalkeeper position for me is the one where the difference between men and women should be least noticeable, however it is where it is the most and I don't understand it, I am a goalkeeper at an amateur level and I play on a team with men and I play as if I were one from them.

Why is it when men make a mistake the commentators say it a "howler from the keeper" but when women make hilarious mistakes the commentators go on like it's a brilliant goal...shows the standards.

@@taxicamel that's why the Australians and New Zealanders handed out tens of thousands of free tickets to women's group stage World Cup matches and even when that didn't get people into stadiums the cameramen were instructed not to pan over the higher stands... cameras were fixed as low to the field as possible so not to show empty stands!!
Not to mention they use stadiums, facilities, clubs/branding all built and paid for by the men's game. And get billions in free advertising in the men's game. And subsidies from the men's game.

Probably because it was the biggest game of his life in the cl final… many goalkeepers have made mistakes as bad as you see here and haven’t been benched
Plus Karius was hit in the head by Sergio Ramos' elbow. Keep in mind that Ramos is one hell of a hardened defender, prime centre back during that time. The concussion surely disoriented Karius in a detrimental way.

My favorite part of watching women's soccer is how hard the commentators try to sell the most average things as something exciting. Like every time a team completes 3 passes, they just want to scream, "Stunning and brave!"

I was a 1st XI goalkeeper at highschool and 2nd XI keeper at University. I stopped playing at 21. I'm 52 now and not remotely fit. But Im certain I would be a star keeper in the Women's Premier League in England and represent the US Women's team at the world cup if allowed.

As a supporter of women's football, there has been a clear disparity between the evolution of the outfield players and their ability to perform technically at a very high level, and that of the goal keepers, over the same period of time. I predict there will be some absolute howlers at the WC again this summer.

Nothing beats the GK who dives when the ball is already in the net or the one standing beside the goal instead if in front of it and then diving and hitting the outside of the net.

It's all funny, but let's be honest: 1) some of these are just GK taking the blame for outfield players' mistakes (poor passing, being at the wrong place, etc...) and 2) you can get a similar list from men's game... if you're going to answer asking me for some examples, I suggest you check Nick Pope (which is considered one of the best England GK) against Liverpool, Mark Flekken from Duisburg against Ingolstadt and Alisson (Brazil's #1) against Man City and Leicester during the lockdown season...

3:58 how many hours is the defenders letting the forward be in their area? The defender falls to the ground with the ball but is allowed by the defenders who just stand and do nothing, to rise up and get a new try.
Anyone who plays sports knows that we all make a dumb move. You have a split second to make a choice and sometimes that choice makes you look like a child learning to walk.
That's okay. By making these mistakes we can only then learn from them.
The pros train so they know what to do when the time comes. Women can't perform. It's a physical and mental limit.

Some of these were really harsh to add which happens in highest level in men’s football all the time where defender plays poor back pass to GK and then GK kicks and slips and goes for corner. You can get 1000 of those in men’s football. Also the free kick one that was a great free kick nothing keeper can do.
What you seem to be forgetting is men's football is 10 times faster so there will be some mistakes, and they need to make the women's goals much smaller.
These are some of the top women's players. That Earps bird just won Sports Personality Of The Year. Show me Neuer or Buffon doing things like this.
Also they're playing in empty stadiums, so there's not pressure on them like there is the men.
