- So I guess one of my neighbor has had several of his cats come up missing and someone is telling him that I am the one who is trapping them and taking them out and that is just not the case at all.

Ducks can forage a larger part of their diet than chickens. Chickens eat mostly grain and animal life, with greenery as a salad. Ducks eat grain and animal life but also considerably more greenery than chickens, including grass, as long as it is succulent and growing.
You need to get your perimeter fence up so you can let your guard dogs. patrol inside it.

We live in South Central Kansas and our 7 acres is off highway 160 and coyotes are calling back and forth in the evening, in the middle of the night and in the early morning! Yesterday we saw a very young coyote running across the field alone and he was beautiful but he's still a predator!
You have the right to trap predators. You have to protect your farm. Please ignore these mean people who say ugly things about you. We put a pair of ducks in our backyard pond and ended up with 33 at one time...but yes they forage in fields and grass for bugs plus the pond bottoms for grit and aquatic bugs. We had one female duck that played with our border collie....the collie would jump into pond and the one duck would stay in pond and play with dog while rest of ducks left pond. The duck would move to other side of pond and quack at the dog until he came close and then dive and come up on other side of pond....they would play until dog wore out....
Thats ridiculous that a neighbor that 'you know' is telling another that you are physically killing their cats!!! 😡😡😡😡 I certainly wouldn't be speaking to them again. He should be watching your videos & learning what you're about! 😊

My cat was attacked by an opossum and it bit him horribly the punctures were deep and painful for him , he laid still for us to treat him. The doctor couldn’t believe how deep the holes were and how it missed vital organs. Needless to say the doctor kept him for a while until he was finally able to come home. Beware those around cats. 🐈⬛ and Raccoons are mean to our dog and cats.

Get yourself a couple donkeys. They are the best at protecting your fine feathered friends and all of your livestock and even yourselves. Plus, they are darn cute and easier keepers.

Ducks in our area quite naturally forage but don't quite scratch for slugs, bugs, and grubs. Often they lead with thier bills.

I live in the suburbs and the coyotes killed the neighborhood cats. I have had indoor outdoor cats as pets. Now we only have indoor cats. Take care.
Hey Dutch it's been awhile sorry to here your troubles with neighbor I know you wouldn't ever trap a house or barn cat when you got your own. As for the coyotes if I was you go out back on that hot trail put a tree stand up set your caller up get in tree stand about 1 hour before sunset & try calling them in then knock them down. We had a duck raised with our dog. He would bark not quack and when the dog got out the duck followed and flew around Runt (dog). They do take on the persona of the animal they are raised with.

I actually trap cats in my neighborhood. But we check them for illness and get them fixed, then we rehome them elsewhere.

When I was trapping hogs I built my own cage with a drop gate. It was a 4x4x10 foot trap. I would put corn in a 2 liter soda bottle. After filling it I pour diesel fuel in the bottle. I still scattered some corn around the trap but tie the one with diesel to the trip line. Each time that I would trap them there were always 2. If you have a harbor freight you can buy a cheap welder for home use. Watch some utube videos on how to weld. The best traps I used chain link fence. I put a bottom and top on my traps. I did catch a neighbors dog and I did turn it loose.

Time to cage the chickens! They need more protection than before. Double wire cages and tunnels for a while. Top wire protection to keep out hawks from dive bombing.

Put a camera up on your chicken coops to see whats coming around it set it to vodeo instead of picture's

Ducks do scratch for bugs too. Just fyi, use hot dogs for coyotes, they love them. Use the cheap ones. You should catch them easily with hot dogs. Yep coyote poop with fur in it. Wish those that tell untruths would stop, but I guess it's not in their nature. Just have to pray for them to wake up and stop.
Motion activated lights will help keep opossum away from coop

You have cats of your own and take good care of all your pets. If you have predators around, cats can be victims as well. I have had a coyote take off with grown duck. I have also had a coyote come up on my side porch to try to get a turkey roosting on the porch rail, and ran off when I opened the door.
Dutch, if you have neighbors like mine, they will steal anything they can get their hands on. I am at the Homestead in middle I am the only one that has had their property surveyed. One on the right property has moved my line markers and I say somebody gave her the land I am a 75 year old Lady the man on the left also moved my lines and cut roads on my property. I have tried to get a Surveyor service for over eight years and no one will come because I am a Senior Citizen.everyone is trying to close in on me.

Every Neighborhood has a mealy mouthed simple minded person living amongst them. Confront them and lay the law down to them. I did and haven't had a problem since. We had someone in our neighborhood that complained that I drove a Porsche. LOL !!! I am VERY COURTEOUS when driving and obey all traffic laws. I took the Oath to Serve and Protect and I take that Oath VERY seriously ! I will never be relieved of that Oath until I am Tango Uniform. HooAH ? Tango Uniform means ~~ Toes Up~~~ Dead !

Coyotes are so adaptable we have been seeing some walking around our subdivision and keeping the feral cat pop down.
That's like our neighborhood. When a new person moves in, you have that one neighbor that talks crap about everyone else to the new neighbor so that they can keep this person as a a friend & not share them. But after so long they find out who the bad neighbor is & is ousted out of the equation. 😁.

Grow jack posted a recent video of a coyote getting one of his chickens while they were in the garage working on a car. In day light hours.

Edited to add. My sister had coyotes get her cats. That's probably what's happening to the neighbors cats. The coyotes have learned they are easy prey.
I've only seen you catch and release animals. If my neighbors allow their dogs, cats, chickens and such roam free, then they are telling me that they don't care if I prevent their animals from harming my animals!

You might try building a double trap for the pigs. Basically a trap in a trap. The deer will not jump a double fence, plus that just gives more area for the pigs that get caught in.

I live in a heavily populated suburb. Even we are warned not to leave cats and small dogs outside. We have a lot of coyotes.

In areas full of predators, some people will build little structures sturdy enough to be rolled around, big enough that a cat can come in hot and maneuver around outstretched paws, small enough that most predators csnt get in. Then depending they put plenty around. Ive also seen wooden tunnels so the cats can get from the shelters bsck to the house. These dont szve them all, all of the time but gives them a fighting chance.
