I have 2 ragdolls one really hates to cuddle but loves to lie next to me to get petted... The other one doesn't mind but only for a while. He's quite independent. One advice: cats don't like to be held like babies. They would like those cuddles better if you were holding them with one hand at their bottom and one at their front legs. That way they would be straight in your arms and have a better balance. They are adorable 🥰😸🥰
That's true. I always hold cats upright - one hand underneath their chest, another underneath their legs or butt, so it's like they're perching on my arms instead. Tried that with my skittiest cat, and she tolerates it enough to purr for 10 seconds straight. My ragamuffin/persian mix loves to be carried, and will snout bump my chin every few seconds.

Our Tinkerbell is not a cuddly type but her halfbrother Big Boy can be held like a baby all they long and in general ready for cuddles the most part of the time. Our previous ragdoll Leo was a champion in cuddling marathons. The sweetest baby, I miss him a lot 😢😢😢

Ragdolls are bred for cuddles. They beg for it, but each likes to be held differently and need to feel safe.
