Hey I know football. I just wanted to say that I got the grip boost football gloves you recommended and it has helped me so much with the back shoulder catches!!! I'm in highschool and my career high in receiving yards happened in the last game of the season. I got 250 yards with 15 receptions!! Thanks for everything!

Great video! Bought for my son (HS class of 2024) and he loves it. Very comfortable, more forgiving fit than the VICIS, feels lighter than his friend's Riddell, snug but not tight. Wish they had more options for titanium facemasks - would take the look to the next level. Only disappointment was no more drawstring bag.

IMO three of your four criteria are fine, but 'swaggy' should come in 5th after 1) Protection, 2) Comfort/Fit, 3) Vision, 4) Weight. For any player field of view (vision) is a must. Thanks for the great review!
Looks like a great helmet and they borrowed some of Schutt's ideas on the TPU pad concept for the Rheon. The best part about this helmet is the chinstrap attachment which is light years better than any other, especially for youth. Just wish they had titantium facemasks like Schutt which make the weight on the neck better for rotational and directional force.

Jacob Scott yea depends on what hs but most hs will still have amazing helmets variations from f7,speed flex,or just any helmet u feel comfortable with but new helmets like this most likely aren’t rlly in any hs that’s why I would want to get my own because to me xenith helmets are just super comfortable to me.
@@jacobscott8116 I purchased my kids helmets.. the school had Schutts and Riddells but the Freshman got the bottom end what was left helmets like original Revolutions and old DNA's while Varsity got Speedflex, Speeds and New Air XP's so I bought them Xenith Epics got the first ones delivered to Utah. They wore them throughout their 4 years of HS and when they went to College one could not bring his own helmet the other we got a new Epic+ before he left. The hard part of owning your own helmet is maintaining the certification and color matching to the teams paint some coaches will allow you to send the helmets in with team helmets some won't.

the shell looks like a lacrosse helmet
I think it was explained in the video why that might be.. Lacrosse players need to have maximum head movement across all axis the "tail" the bump out on the back of the helmet is to help offset the weight of the mask and help center that weight on the players head. This is similar to what Xenith is doing with this helmet but another aspect not discussed is that this weight distribution which helps prevent the back of the head whipping into the ground by centering the weight on the midline the players neck is better able to prevent head whip. The other point which was brought up on the video for DB's, RB, QB's and WR especially is that the weight distribution and the high back of the helmet allows the player better turn their heads and see the what is coming to better prepare for the collisions that are coming.. All of these are important things for Football just as they are important for Lacrosse.
Papiiito that’s the point in a lacrosse helmet you need to be able to look around and see and with this helmet you can do the same but on the football Field

Hey I'm currently playing flag football until I enter highschool and I find these videos really helpful and help me know what I need for tackle football
I remember my freshman szn, I wore a Schutt Hybrid Helmet, and it was the most uncomfortable thing ever, it would literally kill my Cheeks, and jaw. On top of that it was heavy and It stank, I work my ass off and ended up earning a brand new Speed Flex my senior year, fresh off the box, one of the best feelings ever. It was soo much better, it was comfortable, it wasn’t heavy and I loved it soo fkn much.
I got this helmet cause this vid it’s amazing
One thing that I dont like about the helmet is how open it is when it comes to the face mask and chin strap part It would be very easy to get a clean shot under the helmet right to the chin and the high profile in the back may give you more neck mobility but, you are also at risk for a more server head/neck injury due to whiplash

Post laboratory test results? g's for Linear Impact Management and rad's for Angular Acceleration Management. Then, we can compare which helmet offers the best protection. You would be the first and only to do this. (Other than 6D Helmets. They are THE best protecting Motorcycle Helmet. Period).
Unfortunately I don't have those but the Virginia Tech Ratings do that so the shopper can take the guess work out? Are you familiar? As a former mechanical engineer I believe strongly in lab test results but I also realize their limitations. Field tests hold tremendous value and it's been proven that the best fitting helmet (without air inflation) is the single most prominent factor in helmet safety. To my knowledge Riddell, Schutt and Xenith agree on this.
@@IKnowFootball Thank you very much for the reply. I have extremely high praise for Virginia Tech and their data on head impacts in field tests. I use that example in very class.
I also realize the limitations of laboratory results. As a Trainer in the Motorcycling sector for over 20 years and helmet production/testing research, two critical findings have surfaced.
1. Testing standards are prehistoric, outdated and unsafe. (DOT, SNELL, ECE, Etc.) There are no "accepted" standard for measuring Angular Acceleration Mitigation (the leading cause of brain injury, DAI, Fatalities)
2. Most helmets are designed to meet standards, NOT offer Head and Brain Protection.
Test results are a closely guarded secret by most manufactures. 6D Helmets are the only transparent manufacturer we currently have. A very simple question that angers manufacturers, "helmet review" individuals, etc. is, "Can I please see the Laboratory Test Result you fully support?" A discussion ensues and dialog gets nasty. I have email and text to prove it. Some are life threatening toward me, in nature. DOT is on that list.
The point is, I ask the "test result" question because it is (unfortunately) the only "proof" on how well the helmet may protect us. This is what our students/riders are asking when buying a helmet, yet not getting an answer. Being TOLD the helmet is the "safest" does not cut it.
Imagine an individual that simply purchases numerous helmets, pays to have each one tested, and post the results publicly. Think about it. What would you shop by? Star rating? Or actual test results supporting the rating. We deserve the truth. Cheers.
MTI Totally agree helmets are made to perform well on tests (that's because that's what the public wants and what the leagues want). Companies like Xenith, and Schutt and VICIS (I can't speak for Riddell) do both. Develop helmets for safety and to pass the tests. The exact test results were available from VT Study for the first few years for interested parties. Since then they have continual revamped the testing metrics and targets as they have learned more about the on-field impacts. I believe I'm in a unique position as I have a background in mechanicak engineering, I played professional arena football and I have over 12 years of professional marketing experience in brand management. I understand the target consumers (players/parents), I understand the target customers (teams, leagues, eqms) and I understanding testing, marketing and advertising. Unfortunately there is a cross-section of objectives and parties that have to be met for a product to be successful in the market. If you look at the history of Schutt helmets they were making two versions of each helmet for awhile. 1 version (usually labeled VTD) was made specifically to score high in the VT test. The other version was made to score high in Schutt independent testing if what they believed was the safest helmet. Crazy to think about right!
Criteria is subjective, I typically score helments based on 1) Protection, 2) Comfort, and then 3) VISION! The vertical and periferial vision in the Shadow XR seems a lot narrower than a Speedflex, what's IKF's take? :D
