    I did my first enduro race a couple of Months ago,, my #1 tip is just show up, and HAVE FUN, you will get pass and you will crash (hopefully nothing big),, just ride like its any other day, I went to that race with that mind set (off course I crash and got passed on every stage haha) and had a blast,, also made a couple of riding friends.

  • @queentutt8556
    @queentutt8556 5 лет назад +6

    Awesome accomplishment! Those were tough conditions! Such a fun race!
    Biggest tips: go full sloth mode on the climbs or even walk. Save your legs and energy for the down. Sounds obvious but when nervous a lot of people are inclined to pedal fast on the climb.
    Also pick the right wave to start in. Start too soon for your skill level and riders will be passing you or too slow and others will have to be passed which is difficult for all involved.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  5 лет назад

      Great advice! It’s hard to know what wave to start in. Fortunately for me I was with a group of experienced racers who knew my skill level. (Thanks @vixenracingmtb !)

  • @Wizler71

    Fun! I just had a revelation: the first enduro race is like the first trip to the bike park. It can be intimidating but start off easy and work up to "full send" once you're more familiar and confident. Just enjoy the scene and don't worry about being competitive. And yeah, PRERIDE! Racing blind is terrifying!

    My No1 tip for racing is try to stay relaxed. If you treat it like a fun ride out with your mates instead of worrying how well you'll do it'll be a lot more enjoyable and you'll also find you'll actually ride better because you're relaxed and not putting any pressure on yourself. Well done by the way. 👍

      Learn how and what to do in your head, practice it over and over again in your head. Physically look at it from all possible angles and learn any possible hazards. Once you've got all that fixed in your head you've got to just go for it without any hesitation and without thinking too much about it, if that makes sense. Many times you'll finally do it and think to yourself "well that wasn't too bad at all."

    Excellent work miss Beth! My first race, I beat all the people that DNF'd, so middle of the pack is STELLAR. I would say, if you can pre-ride a 2 or 3 days before, and have a rest day before the race, you'll be better off. Though shuttling the day before isn't bad, but DON'T pedal the whole thing the day before. I made that mistake once and was still gassed the next day.

    • @TheLoamRanger

    does that thing at the tree detect your time? seems like a flawed system as will depend on how fast you put your hand against it, why not have a system that has a sensor at the fork, and at the gate and finish like in downhill? as soon as you cross finish line it's detected.

    Eat a huge breakfast at least 3 - 4 hours before your race ( give food time to digest ) then try to take a 15 min cat nap, then have a cup of coffee ☕️ then take a 10-200 ( code for taking a dump, laying cable etc .) Then your ready to head out ! 🍺

    If you didn't have any spills, in those conditions, with the way you sent it, your placement is irrelevant. If you did eat it the ten times I expected you to, I would still thumb this up.

    I noticed you wear glasses. Do you ride with contacts or prescription glasses/goggles? If contacts, have you had any problem with them coming out at higher speeds?

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  4 года назад

      I usually ride with contacts, I’ve never had a problem with them coming out at high speed but I don’t find them comfortable to wear for long days. I’m excited to try some prescription eyewear though, SportRx is sending me some google inserts. I’ll post some feedback on Instagram after I’ve had a chance to try them out.

    Enjoyed the vid! I just finished my first full season of Sport class enduro (ruclips.net/channel/UCnW0Z1WtDxlvWOSRktoqYuw?view_as=subscriber )land I learned what I call the 3Ps.
    P1: Pre-ride. Most of the races I did I had never ridden, the ones I did not pre-ride were a disaster, riding a bit tired the next day was a small loss compared to racing blind.
    P2: Pacing. I came from XC and my biggest problem at first was not taking a bit of recovery time to just sit down for a bit. Enduro days are much longer than XC days (most of em) you need to balance time / energy / Distance over the course of a day.
    P3: Pressure (this is a big one). Remember its just bike racing! Have fun, if you have to walk a feature don't stress its not a big deal. Crashing happens too, as long as you can continue on just do that... continue on! Even if you finish dead last you still beat every other person who never strapped on a number plate. "Better to be a racer for a second than a spectator for life"
