You are amazing, Jason! 🥰 Your level of concentration, never waivered, not even once in your delivery! Your dedication to the lessons you provide - are seriously - next level! Thank you so much, for doing what you do! It might be all in another days work for you - but it's important to me - that you know just how much you are appreciated! Creators like you, are helping change lives out here, by empowering people to develop the skills and confidence, to help themselves! Where would small creators like me, be, without kind & humble creators, with so much wisdom and knowledge, like you?! The Fairlight page is an amazing - yet scary - labyrinth of rabbit-holes to get sucked into, when you are trying to navigate through learning little bits and pieces - here and there! 100% as soon as I get time available, I'm taking your course!!! 🥳🙌 Thank you again, Jason. 🙏
Wow what an absolutely beautiful comment - thank you so much for that, it means a lot - I'm so glad you found the video useful and hopefully made Fairlight a bit less scary!! All the best :) :)
This was exactly what I've been searching for forever! I can't believe you covered the basics of so many things all in one tidy video. Your depth, level of detail, and pacing are brilliant. Thank you so much!
This was fantastic, thank you. I'll definitely check out your Fairlight course. I've been doing post sound work in Logic for a few years now but the more I use Resolve the more I'm seeing it as a one-stop-shop for everything instead of editing in Premiere, colouring in Resolve, and sound in Logic. Fairlight seems pretty capable at least for the work I do which is majority documentary. I had a project open and was testing things out as you talked about them. One weird thing I came across...when checking the loudness of one of my projects I did the bounce in new track trick and analyzed it. It gave me -24 LUFS which is my target, but when I export that bounced track and analyze it in Youlean it reads -27 LUFS. Going back to Fairlight I analyzed the track again and this time used Youlean internal (within Fairlight) and it read -24 LUFS. Any idea why this might be?
Thanks so much! I would like to get into surround sound but I don't have any tutorials on it I'm afraid. What kind of things would you be using surround sound on?
@@JasonRobertsVideo I would simply love to know the basic workflow. My mixes are simple (documentary): Dialogue/VO tracks, a couple stereo BG tracks and a couple mono SFX tracks. I want to be able to mix to 5.1 to make a 5.1 DCP for theatrical. I can literally find no good simply explanation of the basic 5.1 workflow. But maybe such a workflow doesn't exist. In any case, the direct, simple, straightforward method of your videos works very very well.

Wow what a lovely comment - thanks so much for saying that it is appreciated!! :) :)
I had no idea it was possible to do the audio ducking on DaVinci, this is so useful.
No problem - glad to help :) :)
Brilliant, very understandable, thanks Jason
You're most welcome Richard - thanks :) :)
My audio would be so bad without this guy lol.

Thanks! There are even more audio-related improvements coming in version 19 :) :) Sorry, not sure why you might be getting those LUFS differences.
Thank you. New sub.
Thanks for the sub and welcome!! :) :)
Uau! Trully a masterclass.
Wow, thank you so much :) :)

You are most welcome - thanks :) :)
Do you have any tutorials about basic surround sound editing in Fairlight? Your videos are excellent!

Thanks so much for saying that last thing - I really appreciate it :) :) When I learn the workflow I'll make a video on it :)
Thank you from me and my future videos.
Haha!! Thanks :) :)
Excellent sharing of your extensive audio knowledge. Thank you. New subscriber. I did want to know more about how to create a narration track though..
Thanks and welcome - by narration track do you mean recording a voice over into resolve?
Yes.
Thanks - I already had that on my to do list so I'll make sure it gets done :) :)
thank you sir, new sub here
Welcome! And thanks for the sub :) :)
