    Great comparative break down Linda.
    One other big positive for the RV is food cost. Cooking and eating in your RV will save hundreds of dollars a week verses eating at restaurants.

      Very true! I should have mentioned that. You can save a ton of money and time that way.

    Since you bought an older RV, depreciation isn't as much of a factor, but RVs in general are much more expensive than cars. The thing I like best is the locations where we can camp with an RV. It is great when you can overlook a lake or wake up inside of a National Park ready to start your hike.

      I agree, that is definitely a major benefit of RVs. And like some of the other commenters noted, you can save money in many other ways by using an RV, like with food. It's really nice to be able to make meals while on the road instead of spending the money to eat out all the time (and healthier!).

    Lovely Linda, you hit the nail on the head " Method Of Travel -vs- Quality Of Travel ". Though they maybe comparable financially speaking, it's what mode/method is to one's liking and how they prefer traveling ( Solo, Couple, Group, Slow-pace, Quick-pace, Hotels, ABNB, Campgrounds, Boondocking, Moochdocking, etc. ). Usually it's a tradeoff where you're sacrificing costs, comforts, and travel times towards the ultimate goals of your trip. I suspect that as you grow in experiential adventuring you'll become more comfortable at forecasting your overall expenses, which will swage your concerns by them being unequivocally outweighed via the joys and excitement of your ever-expanding horizons. Experiences = Priceless Memories + Immeasurable Joys !!! I will swimmingly say, " At some point you have to let go of the side of the pool, and PUSH OFF for new adventures/deeper waters " ( regardless of the immediate costs ). See how I wrapped that up. Always, Syn Silver.

      I love that, thank you! I completely agree. And the thing is, we don't have to commit to just one type of travel or experience. I think sometimes people feel that they need to belong to a specific group or tribe, but I believe we all change and evolve so our preferences and desires will change as well. Sometimes you may want to connect with nature and be in a remote area, while other times you may want to connect with other people and be social. I think we should just go where we are being drawn to go. :) Thank you again for being so supportive!!

    LAZY DAZE RV , the only way to travel ! I'll be heading to Quartzsite Az. from the Miss. gulf coast , in 3 weeks . My first trip in my Lazy Daze . I was quite surprised at the result of the cost comparison , but I have no desire to travel any way other than RV , for several reasons .

    Good morning Linda,
    Does your motorhome have a petrol or diesel engine?
    Thank you for your video, it's always a pleasure to see and hear you. In France too, prices have really increased a lot in all sectors.
    Marc

      It is a Ford E350 gasoline engine.
      Thank you so much for your kind words. I appreciate you watching my videos! I would love to visit France someday. One of my bucket list items is to travel Europe on my motorcycle, so hopefully I will be able to do that someday!

    Me and my family want to take a trip from Utah where we live to California to visit my family and Disneyland. Right now I'm trying to make the decision that it might be more cost-effective to just take an RV but I am concerned about the gas but when I think about the cost to rent an RV gas the RV and get all the way down there vs renting a car gas in the car and paying for hotels... I feel maybe an RV would be better in the kids could watch TV while we drive. Thank you for your video and all the insite...as we never used an RV before

    • @LindaYoshi
      @LindaYoshi  2 года назад +1

      That would be a fun road trip! But yes, there are a lot of factors to weigh for that decision. Renting an RV adds an additional cost than if you already owned one, but not sure how they compare to hotel prices? It might work out to be about the same, but then you're spending a lot more on gas. But it would probably be a lot more comfortable in an RV and as a few of my viewers commented, you could save a lot of money by making meals in the RV. I hope whichever way you decide you and your family have a fun and safe trip to Disneyland!

      Get or rent a RV I am a retired TV Producer and have spent years in hotels. I shop around and just bought a older RV for around $ 10k. I love it. Yes it eats gas but airplanes does too. The thing about a RV not like tickets you can sell it when you’re done. Have a safe trip no matter what you decide.

    You have to have a Rv but once you have one “There is know life like it” and over the years your investment only get better. Plus you will never get to see vs a car. Plus again you are not stuck in town or even worse in the suburbs. And that is more likely what you are trying to get away from 😮

    You forgot eating in restaurants on the car trip. Or did you eat in restaurants while RVing? Some Motels/Hotels do offer breakfast. I am surprised at how little of a difference the cost was though. I would perfer to travel in an RV. To each their own though. Thanks for posting Linda! Will you be posting weekly? Take care...

    • @LindaYoshi
      @LindaYoshi  2 года назад +1

      Good point. I did think about mentioning it, but wasn't sure how to compare it since sometimes you can get free continental breakfast at hotels and also some RVers like eating at local restaurants. But that is definitely a way you can save a ton of money with an RV. I prefer to travel by RV as well! I am really trying to post weekly, so hopefully I can keep this up! Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to write a comment! I appreciate the support!

    Add the cost of the rv then that wipes out any savings. The RV is about experience.

    ok, let's pretend I'm going with an RV, that means this price you calculated is the absolute minimum possible price, except you can drop parking lot prices, which gives us $600 or so, then let's calculate minimums price of driving on a car. my car Skoda Kodiaq consumes less so I can drive 1300mi with a two gas tanks, which is appr. $120, then add 6 nights for "Ruby tuesday" is $300 and it makes $450 for driving a car.
    All together I think it depends whether you pay a little more but you feel like at home, or stay on a cheap hotel and how much you dear for your comfort. personally I would pay a little more but feel much better in my own RV than stay in a smoked cheap hotel

    • @LindaYoshi

      I agree. That was what I found surprising - that there wasn't a significant difference either way and that it really just depends on how you want to travel. My hope is that people don't get discouraged to travel by RV, despite the rising gas prices. :)
