How perfect, how can something have such a truth? Debussy said "Works of art makes rules; rules do not make works of art." I am so grateful for his romantic impressionist approach to music, during a time when others were way too restricted.
No matter the instruments used or the arrangement, the music of Debussy always moves me...the sheer beauty and emotion he creates is extraordinary. The SAKURA performance is sublime.
At 1:23 the cellist playing the melody almost makes the cello sound as if it’s crying, beautiful that’s all I can say!
It's there when the tears well up....
Funny, cause for me thats at 1:50, mostly cause the harmonies are much darker here and it higlights the almost painful melody, but In your case its the opposite, the harmony is much brighter and it clashes, not in a bad way, with the melody
I've watched this at least 30 times. I've cried at least 29 of those times
1:24 gave me goosebumps. You can't do that on a piano
Christian S. de Macedo agreed. That and 1:52. Whole body chills.
No I can't. Of course I can't do it on a cello either. But this Debussy piece does sound better played on cello or violin than a piano.
Christian S. de Macedo You can , If you truly bealieve and fall in love with this peace .
In case you missed it, listen to Paul Barton's rendition
ushoys it actually sounds great in any arrangement. Different feel but all are great. And I get a strong Vaughn Williams vibe. Wonder if he inspired him
I think, I might have just fallen in love. If I´d only knew with whom.
I know what you mean Fredi. Debussy and Chopin are two of my favorites.
Fredi Frühauf Debussy dum dum
Pretty sure it was written about the death of his six year old daughter ):
Im sure debussy would be flattered son but his first and only love was the sea😉
@@owen261 Hardly. Debussy's only daughter outlived him.
1:32 the communication between them is everything. they're so in sync, it's beautiful.
Am a sucker for cello, and there are 5 of you. Like this arrangement too much. Even more than the original
Love the cello ..
I heard this and was deeply moved, back to a time when peasant girls worked the fields and would stand among the bright golden shafts of wheat and rye in the bright sunlight. Such a warm piece of music.
Dedra Kaye DeHart chaffs
@@ryacoli WRONG, you cannot stand in a field of wheat or rye chaffs. The lovely description given by @Dedra Kaye DeHart is perfectly ok and referred to the peasant girls standing in a field of uncut wheat or rye and was poetically expressed in her own way. Chaff is created AFTER the wheat or Rye has been cut down and processed.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaff
e.g Chaff (/tʃæf/; also UK: /tʃɑːf/)[1] is the dry, scaly protective casing of the seeds of cereal grains, or similar fine, dry, scaly plant material such as scaly parts of flowers, or finely chopped straw. Chaff is indigestible by humans, but livestock can eat it and in agriculture it is used as livestock fodder, or is a waste material ploughed into the soil or burned.
@@lovemetu @Dedra Kaye Dehart wrote "...the bright golden shafts..." when they meant to write 'chaffs' I was correcting them.
Those were the days my friends ,when life was pure and simple,..we thought they would never end.
@@janejohnstone5795 Ah yes, we all long for the days when women and babies commonly died during labor, most teeth rotted before old age and had to be removed with crude, septic tools and without anesthesia, diseases were widespread and often fatal, and we all shat and pissed into buckets and then dumped them into the same rivers we got our drinking water from. Purer and simpler times.
I got instant chills on the first chord
I got instant chills after the first note!
@@jamien.5528 yeah right....
do you use windows 7?. if you EVER used one, this is gonna be the example music.
My favorite arrangement. The sensitivity of the cellists’ articulation really captures how delicate of a piece this can be.
This is a short but beautiful piece of music and I've always loved it!
so moving, gorgeous performance.
1:50 Canserbero - C'est la mort. Goosebumps! El Can VIVE! ♥️
This song just gets better and better throughout this video. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Heartbreaking.
This literally gave me goosebumps. I love the classical piano and the symphony orchestra but there is something about the Cellos. Amazing job fellas.
Today was the second time I dreamed with this song. I woke up with tears in my eyes
Moved me to tears……
Still watch this all the time; for years now!
1:53 deadass gave me chills.
Listen "Canserbero - C'est la mort". It will give you goosebumps too.

i hardly comment in any youtube videos, but i just need to comment on this one. Too beautiful!
The wonderfulness and comfort of their performances are unrivaled, and indescribable
When I hear this piece, I am so grateful to be alive. The essence of beautiful music !
Criminally under rated.
4 years and a ~100,000 more views later.
Justice has been served!
How could anyone not find this moving and beautifull.
It made me think of a time when thought life would never end
Oh my, I play this peace on my piano, but this is just... Yeah. AMAZING!
The flaxer Hair a minha favorita, melodia maravilhosa que trás paz . Interpretação esplêndida, sincronia perfeita. Parabéns a todos os músicos envolvidos
Listening to this masterpiece,
my heart Ìs resting and soothed and comforted
And
my soul heals and Ìs purified
Beautiful, sooo..gentle and relaxing.
Th performance will quench and moisturize your parched soul
that last chord is absolute perfection.
..So, so beautiful...!
Debussy. The Girl with the Flaxen Hair. Yeah...
Such total sublimity - is that a word? - if not, then it should be.
I played the piece as my final encore for an epic piano recital, back in 2010.
Leave 'em wanting more, yet wholly satisfied = The Girl with the Flaxen Hair by Claude Debussy.
Yeah.
BRAVI, SAKURA!!!! BEAUTIFULLY ARRANGED AND PERFORMED!!!!

Listen "Canserbero - C'est la mort". It will give you goosebumps too.
I got goosebump for the whole video
This is just beautiful! Debussy is one of my favorite composers and this is a wonderful arrangement. I'll share your video widely!
best version of that piece on youtube!
I love 1:30-1:45
neither my heart nor my mind can reconcile what my soul hears and feels: there is joy and peace juxtaposed against melancholia and nostalgia; I feel a longing for what is not there... people and places; the memories of yesteryears; the sweet drops of time that seem to last an eternity while at the same time disappear in an instant. I too have fallen in love, but wonder who the recipient is.
This song touched me so much the 1st time I heard it..Just lovely.
Why doesn’t this have more views it’s so beautiful!
We had the privilege of hearing them perform this past week at a High Desert Chamber Music Concert. Sublime.
this is the best version of this piece that i have heard. this is as close to paradise as man will ever come.
Ugh this is dreamy ❤️. Truly wonderful, romantic rendition. Thank you ❤️
This is going to be my all time favorite
This is one of my favorite piano pieces and just happened to find this, holy shit...
Whow. Til now the piano version was my favourite - but now I can't help thinking that I have to rethink... Hearing such utter beauty I feel that there is hope for us human beings. But not much, I'm afraid...
So beautiful, makes me think of my first girlfriend 35 years ago, and my young daughter.
Your old girlfriend remains you of your daughter?
gta and more i think his old girlfriend was his daughter

Most beautiful thing ever
Bloody hell, impeccable technique.
I have never had goosebumps since finding Arabesque no.1, until finding this video, that is!
I am so glad i could feel goosebumps again, amazing performance!!
The perfect translation of a gust of wind on hair with taste of melancholy. beautiful
This is really fantastic. BEAUTIFUL! This is my favorite arrangement of this piece ever.
This is soo..classy and refined...lady's and gentlemen,...sipping their 🍷 wine...
My heart is going to explode! Wonderful interpretation. In my humble opinion, the pizzicato in the end should never have existed... Besides that, it's one of the most beatiful versions I've ever heard. Greetings from Lima - Peru.
Agreed, but forgivable.
What a wonderful rendition of a beautiful, yet melancholic piece. As a 13-year-old, I strongly wish that I found out about Claude Debussy much earlier. Thank you.
I absolutely adore this piece on the piano and so i was intrigued to see this come up. I really wasn't sure how it eould translate to the cello but you have captured the yearning and beauty of the original perfectly. Bravo. 👏
This is superb. The incomparable melody of Debussy meets masterful musicians. Just the very BEST.
This beings you back , to when life was simple....
Just finished reading the wonderful novel The Keeper of Secrets by Julie Thomas. This music figures heavily in the narrative, lovely to hear it so beautifully played.
Short but beautiful!
my favorite
How majestic. Thank you for this blissful feeling.
Goosebumps
Beautiful
Astounding.
This video was actually my introduction to the cello quintet format, and boy am I glad I came across this arrangement.
You blew me away that was absolutely beautiful. What a killer version of my favorite song
So Lovely.
So simple and yet so rich. You can feel DuBussy's emotion. Terrific job, gentlemen. You captured that composition for me.
1:46 will always be my favourite part of the entire piece, the way all the instruments build the tension and then smooth it out always gives me goosebumps, it's beautiful
Beyond words. I listen to this everyday it's just mesmerizingly beautiful
Thanks
A stunning arrangement of an already gorgeous piece. Thank you so much for this!
Their wonderful performance has a scent of Debussy’s aesthetics
I am mesmerized by their wonderful performance and the aesthetics of Debussy
From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
a few months ago, I had a dream where I was in a dark room, sitting on the floor, and all I could hear was a song been played in the violin. I woke up with with tears in my eyes, sobbing. after that, i spent 3 hours on the internet looking for this, and when I found this video, I cried again. 3 months later, this is my favorite song ever, seriously
This just came up on my YT feed. We had this played at my dad's funeral (piano), but this is just stunning with cellos ❤
This version is absolutely beautiful.
Standing ovation. Just ...wow ❤️
Thank you.. I needed to hear that xxxxxxx
Special ❤
I'm don't know any classical music pieces except where I learn from Twosetviolin and also not a musician. But when I heard the beginning of this piece I kinda catch a melody(?) where I have listened to it before but I don't know when or where. Not recently ofc. Its like on my childhood I guess.. from a movie or games i think.. anyways This arrangement is beautiful. Its similar to what I heard before than the original. Thank you for bring the nostalgic feeling.
Incredible!!
Well done, lads. That's the stuff.
Is it just me or is it in a different key?
Either way, this arrangement is beautiful.
Yeah it's up a half step
Heartbreakingly beautiful 😍.
I liked this before even playing it because I knew it was going to be stunning.
Exquisitely and delicately played.....
wow. the harmonies are everything 🙌
God, this is just gorgeous isn’t it?
It takes me to one of my childhood place, where I often use to sit in a quite time. Thank you so much for sharing
Oh god, this is heavenly beautiful.
Whoever "disliked" this must be really miserable humans. Smh
1:20 is objectively the best part
Perhaps even the few measure leading up to this point. But I agree this in the moment in the music that grabs the soul the most.
That build and release is perhaps my favorite moment in the classical piano canon. From the first time I heard it I felt it
Thank you for posting this. Beautiful!
