  • In this video, I repaired an Epson PowerLite 84 multimedia projector. Teardown pictures can be found at www.kerrywong.com/2016/07/16/e...
I did a teardown of a DLP projector a while back, you can take a look here • Teardown of a SMART UF... if you are interested.

My projector display wont show, its just black. I took the battery out and inspected. Placed it back in now it seems like my projector lamp is broken where the light wont shine and now I got a status/temp light is orange and when previously it was a solid blue. Do you know whats going on with my projector?

Hi Kerry, I really love your video's, the concept, the ideas everything. I just have a few questions regarding the high voltage capacitor. Do I need to discharge a capacitor (the big one) safely first, when doing component testing on a motherboard power supply? And if you did, how do you do it?

Yes, in you need to discharge those capacitors as not all of them have bleed resistors on them. The safest way to discharge these capacitors is to either use the low impedance mode on your multimeter (if your meter has that) or use a 1K to 100K resistor and connect to the leads of the capacitor for a few seconds. Don't short the leads as the spark can damage traces/leads.

Epson 835emp model that shuts down after 10 mins with both lights flashing bulb and temp ? any ideas ? Thanks .. Kevin

If the LED with the bulb icon is flashing orange, it means that the lamp will need to be replaced and if the temperature light is flashing red, it means it's overheated.

This was a fusible resistor, designed to act like a fuse in case of over current. Most the time they fail without visible external sign.

I would have thought it would be a 0 Ohm resistor if it was used as a fuse?
