    There’s no question that the defenses of Nebraska’s 90’s championship teams were absolutely phenomenal. That being said, the Huskers ‘09 defensive statistics have something to say:
    2009- 10.4 PPG (#1 in the Nation)
    1997- 16.5
    1995- 13.6 PPG
    1994- 12.5 PPG
    On a completely and 100% unrelated note, they never should have put 1 second back on the clock! #CompletelyUnrelated

      Why do you do this to me Adam? I'm trying to work and it's pretty hard to when you post videos like this!

      In 1995 Nebraska's offense was blowing opponents out which means you had 3rd and 4th string players in on defense at the end of the game which skewed the stats.

      Can't forget that 1999 Defense. 12.5 PPG and 252.2 Total YPG. Mike and Ralph Brown, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Steve Warren, Keyuo Craver, Carlos Polk, Eric Johnson. They were stacked.

      2014 offense with this defense would of done some damage

      If the 1995 team had an offense as bad as 2009, that defense would have held teams under 10 a game. All the starters were usually pulled by the 4th quarter. The 1999 defense was special too.

    OHanlon was a crazed lunatic also. It would be nice to get back to close to that in these next few years. A top 20 defense in 3-4 years would be awesome. Go Big Red! Husker for life...

    I liked the Nebraska defense of ‘99. It had the Browns, Vandenbosch and a super fast all around game.

    What I wouldn't give to have that defense again! Suh should have won the Heisman that year!

    I'd have to go w/the 95' Defense as the best ever this year was DEFINATELY #2.... but, Suh should've won the Heisman that year.

    • @st85100
      @st85100 Год назад +1

      Frazier should've won the Heisman in 95 also.

    • @chobiden7770
      @chobiden7770 Год назад

      I agree. Almost every game in 95 was a blowout which means you had 3rd and 4th string defenders playing at the end of the games and giving up some cheap points for their opponents

    • @fredgrimley8883
      @fredgrimley8883 Год назад +2

      @ref... yah, I agree with you. My ranking would be: #1 1995 Defense, #2 2009 Defense, #3 1999 Defense.
      I've watched Dallas Cowboys in 2002 and San Diego Chargers in 2013 practice and specifically went to see the lineman work 1's vs 1's and it wasn't nearly as shocking as when I'd watch those Husker D and O lines go 1's vs 1's in drills. It was a difference in brutality. Sometimes it got so heated that the guys had to be separated, they were damn near fist-fighting each other. Whereas those pro lines obviously had much higher physical attributes and skill, but their brutality level just didn't scare me.
      The 1995 team as a whole is still talked about as the best in all college football history, and the defense was a major part of it. No team came within 2 touchdowns of that team for a reason. The Wazzu game was a warm-up for Florida, as they used both the 1 back and no-back/5 WR sets that Florida would use later in the Natl Title game. Plus, they could defend the run better than anyone.
      1996 Fiesta Bowl - Run/Pass Statistics.
      NEB Run: 524 Pass: 105 Total: 629
      FLA Run: -28 Pass: 297 Total: 269
      And I know they included the 7 sacks that night in the MINUS 28 yards rushing, but these are PLAYSTATION NUMBERS for a Natl Title game, and against the best the SEC had to offer back then. And this was after the Gators couldn't even get 1 FUCKING YARD on a fourth and one. 🤣😂😅😆😁

    That 95 team was really special. They were blowing teams out. And what they did to Heisman winner Weurfell and that Spurrier Fun n Gun was the feather on a cap to a spectacular season. Back to Backs.

    71 much better competition undefeated. Way more players drafted into NFL. Heck a second string defender became captain of the Oakland raiders and won a Super Bowl.
    71 team played the number 2,3 & 4tesms in the country which combined averaged 33.6 points a game scored. The defense average giving up 8 points a game that year.

    Man, I hope Prince Will and Cam Lenhardt watch these videos. They need to be a Crick/Suh type duo for Nebraska going forward. They just had motors that went to red line and didn't let off. Couldn't be stopped. Eric Fields can play O'Hanlon. Maverick Noonan playing the edge like Adam. Be the first father/Son to have their names on Memorial Stadium. It's coming soon. Let's Gooooo!!! GBR ☠️☠️☠️☠️

    Suh was the guy who got a ton of attention. Don't get me wrong, he deserved it but honestly every one of those guys on defense was on point. There were no holes, no weak links, nothing. Every position had a straight badass who did what was expected of them. Exceeded expectations. Legendary group.

    If we can get even 50% of the tenacity this defense had back, we will be just fine. One highlight that is under valued imo is the first snap of that Big12 championship when Gomes read the screen and lit up the receiver 5 or 10 yards back. Set the whole defensive tone that game. Gomes was so damn good!
