      Yes ME TOO ! I also recorded it also on a trusty old VHS roughly 20 years ago. Weird thing is my Sony DVD player is no longer working . It wont play anymore. Happened a couple of month ago and i only got that DVD player ten years ago. My old VHS still does and its 25 years old . Now all the recordings all take place digitally but i like my old tape collections . They are like books which equally take up space in the same manner on shelves not that this bothers me.

    The CGI footage (at about 9:47 into the video) of the He162 shooting down a Spitfire shows a Mk.24 Spitfire which was not manufactured until 1948, and belonging to No. 80 Squadron (Squadron Code W2). There is also a report that the only kill by a He162 was of a Typhoon on 4 May 1945 by a Lt. R. Schmitt.

    The reason for the breakup of the wood assemblies was that we bombed the Tego Chemical adhesives factory. The ersatz replacement was acid based and would compromise the wood joining. Tego’s product was neutral and was quite effective. After the War Winky Brown tested the aircraft and was impressed with it’s simplicity and advanced design. He thought it was basically a good design worthy of further development of the Volksfighter!

    One of the big problems with this “documentary” is it does not address the fact that by early 1944 Germany was having big issues with producing any of it’s current high tech weapons due to lack of specialized raw materials - which effected everything from the quality of the steel for tanks to engines for the Me 262 - the jet engines for Me 262 lasted at best only 20 hours before needing to be overhauled or replaced. Even if the war lasted another year Germany didn’t have the raw materials to build new high tech planes - and since most were only drawings - time to work out any inevitable bugs in the designs - in early 1945 the Germans were trying to find ways to build volks fighters out of wood - not to mention the great loss of pilots - they didn’t have the man power or fuel to train the few men they had left - none of these planes would have ever been able to be produced even if some how the war had gone to 1946.. before the landing at Normandy in June of 1944 - the allied bombing effort had done major damage to the war factories of Germany.
    Also the things they say Germany could have put in to the air is pure hyperbole - a good example is all the talk about the possibility of an awesome foreword swept fighter jet - it would have never happened - forward swept wings are highly unstable - the reason the US didn’t have a aircraft with forward swept wings until 50 years after WW2 - is because a computer is need to help keep the plane stable in flight - foreword swept wings are highly unstable in flight - if the Germans had tried to fly a jet with forward swept wings - it would just crash - that’s why it has only been used on experiential planes and no air forces to this day fly a fighter with forward swept wings.
    The Focke-Wulf Ta 183 had only made it to the stage of being a model being a model tested in a wind tunnel - for it to have reached even the 1st flying plane was years off. The work on the Me262 was started in 1939 - the 1st unit to train and fly the Me262 wasn’t formed until late April of 1944. Although the Me262 was put into service it still had many problem and had a very short flight duration of 60-90 minutes. As the Ta 183 used a new engine - which would have many issues to work - by the end of the war in May, 1945 only prototypes had been built - it would have taken Germany at least 3 more years before it would have been able to start producing this new fighter - it would have never happened anytime in 1946 - more like late 1948 before production could have been started on the TA 183. The TA 183 was never “ordered into production” - it couldn’t be produced because even a prototype was never built - heck even a mock up was never built - the only thing ever built of the TA 183 was small models for wind tunnel testing.
    There is a great deal of bad history and tech in this “documentary” - it almost If it was written by the propaganda from Nazi Germany. There as so many lies in this “documentary” that I lost track of them all - it is more fiction than fact.
    The Ruhrstahl Ru 344 X-4 - the missile that the TA 183 was suppose to use as its’ primary weapon had been in development since 1936 - yet it was never put into service with and it was impossible to be used by a fighter because the problems in guiding both the missile and the aircraft at the same time proved unworkable in testing. Even though Germany made up to 1,000 of this missile - it never entered service. After the war France tried to further develop the middle for their own use, 200 units were manufactured between 1947 and 1950. However, the program was disbanded due to the dangerous pre-flight refuelling involved (the hypergolic nitric acid and Tonka combination was highly explosive).
    The Argentine jet fighter, Pulqui II ( based on the TA 183) that was built by the designer of the TA 183 - only 4 prototypes were built by 1959 - development was comparatively problematic and lengthy, with two of the four prototypes being lost in fatal crashes. So the Argentine government bought F86s fighters from the US instead of continuing development of the Pulgui.
    There is not one single plane or missile in this “documentary” that the Germans would have been able to put into production by 1946 - not one of them would be any threat to allied bombers.
    This “documentary” is so filled with untruths and and fiction - it is more like something the Nazi propaganda machine would turn out that what the reality of the facts about development of these weapons.

      Yes, I've always found all the talk that Germany was somehow technologically more advanced than the allies. That's simply not true. They where surely not behind, but that doesnt say much. As you said they lacked production ability, but they also lacked just about everything else as well (fuel, ammunition, pilots, ground crews and so forth). None of these planes where ever remotely ready for war. Or at least they where about as ready as their allies counterparts, with the main difference being that the allies didn't need to put unfinished prototypes on the field.

      @Toob247 Toob247 as said above, what you are referring to is pure mythology. Research the subject. Yes sure, germany had a some interesting technology, primarily in the rocket sector. But it wasnt any magic unknown stuff for sure the us wanted to retain that momentum after the war, they had a new weapon and needed to springboard the delivery system.... nor did they want to help the Soviets by helping them to springboard they usa....

      Spot on assessment. There are really only two types of aircraft : experimental or obsolete! After reading you rebuttal to this "Nazi Hyped Tech" video I now understand why the History Channel is the Horseshit Channel. They only show such rubbish these days as UFO and Bigfoot shows. Another old joke from back in the day was: "Our German scientists were better than Nazi's Germany scientists." Sheer numbers and easy to field fix machines will beat any wunder waffen weapon that is to expensive and complicated for its crew to repair at on near the battle field.

    • @DmdShiva
      @DmdShiva 4 года назад

      @Toob247 Toob247 If you ignore the more severe issues with oil and strategic materials, it wasn't so much that the factories were being bombed as the fact that the Germans were welded to the "craftsman" style of production, where each worker had to be able to perform all of the tasks necessary to build a product. This meant that it was difficult for them to quickly ramp up production, and the fact that German industry was not put on a war footing until several years into the war didn't help. Compounding this problem was the fact that German designs were often subject to 'feature creep', which in the case of the PzKpfw V, VI, and VIb resulted in tanks significantly heavier than their design weight without corresponding increases in their engine power and drivetrain strength resulted in vehicles that were mechanically unreliable and complex to maintain, while American tanks were engineered for reliability and easy maintenance, since everything to maintain them in the field had to be shipped across the Atlantic.

    Volksjager was a concept, the He-162's official name was Spatz (sparrow), with an unofficial name of Salamander. The one deep factory was in an old salt mine, where the conditions were said to have been brutal and inhumane. If the war had gone on several months longer, the aircraft that would have turned any tide was the Horton Ho-229 A3 (as yet to be named) all wing fighter. Erwin Ziller, the primary test pilot for the 229 had a mock battle with an Me-262 and flew rings around it. Shortly thereafter, Ziller was killed when the 229 crashed due to engine failure.

      It is not just the bad leadership and the army ant mentality but the lack of resources. In 1945 the Germans were riding carts and walking home and the Allies were riding trucks by 10 different corporations, tanks by 7, and aircraft by 9. The Allies may not be known for expert machining but that is a myth. The Germans were beaten before they started. They were just unable to see it through the brainwashing.

      @@ggenergyarthurmiller5963 Nazi Germany used 700,000 horses in June 1941 already when they invaded the Soviet Union. They didn't have enough trucks for their logistics and had to use horses to supplement it. When France was invaded in 1940 most German divisions actually invaded by foot since few were mechanized.
      As for bad leadership. The allies arguably had worse leaders than Nazi Germany before the war and in the first few years when they constantly bungled up and missed good opportunities to stop Hitler and the Third Reich.

    • @paulallen8109
      @paulallen8109 4 года назад

      @Will.J it cane long before Hitler even thought about starting a political party, which he was partly talked into doing because he was so admired and influential among the troops in the trenches during his service in ww1." False. First of all the nazis already existed as a party under the name "German workers' party" before Hitler joined them. He did *not* neither found the party nor was he "partly talked" into it. The party already had antisemitic beliefs and were deeply nationalistic and pro-German. After the war Hitler remained in the army and was made an intelligence agent of the Reichswehr and was told to monitor and gather information of "radical new parties" which had popped up following Germany's defeat. While spying on the German Workers' Party Hitler found himself agreeing with much of what they said and believed that they had the right idea.
      As for "starting" the party. Anton Drexler was the leader of the German Workers' party and remained the leader when they changed their name to the Nazi Party (longer name actually) in 1920. Hitler was only made leader of the party in 1921.
      And NO, he was NOT admired and respected by the troops in the trenches. He was a lowly corporal for crying out loud! The men in the trenches recorded he was a loner who did his duty but never mingled with his fellow soldiers as he kept a "clean image". You're probably confusing him with Erich von Ludendorff the German general who really *was* admired by a lot of German soldiers and who many troops returning home did believe was the man who should lead Germany back to glory.
      Influential? How?? Nobody had heard of him outside his own sector and nobody saw anything in him which inspired them in the war itself.
      "Look up asteroidal impact evidence recently found by nasa and other scientific institutes, look up meltwater pulse 1B, look up platos description of the city/empire of atlantis and the date he gives for its destruction by flood." Utter nonsense. I knew your knowledge was lacking when you claimed Hitler started the nazi party and that he was admired by his peers in the army, but this just removes any doubt you're out of your wits.
      "What I'm getting at, is these 7000 year old texts are describing aircraft and their multiple propulsion methods, radio communication, atomic science and fission bombs, electricity, firearms, advanced astronomy, all before it is said that humans conceptualized a circle rolling and its use as a wheel."
      Pseudo-archeology, ancient legends and "mysteries" for paranoid tinfoil hats and speculative nonsense has no place here. Kindly be quiet before you make an even bigger fool out of yourself.
      Be quiet. It's clear you know nothing. Nothing.

    The US had already been working on a flying wing before Northrup engineers looked at the Horton in the eighties, (as they knew about the Horton from WWII), but there was already the design of the "flying flapjack," and the N-1M of 1940. Plus, they had already been testing stealth technologies. Jack Northrup had been looking at the flying wing design, with the N-1M in 1940, and had made a bomber, just after WWII, but these air frames are unstable, and they required fly by wire to work correctly, which hadn't been developed yet. That led to the B-2, which Jack lived to see.. This can be found in another video in this series.
    The bad decisions of the US military, during WWII, are why the US has continued its black projects program, during the cold war, and during peacetime.

      Robert Dawson ... actually the 229 was built for speed and range, there was no need for stealth, they built a wing to the same specifications and tested a chain home type radar against it and found it only reduced the RCS by 20%, which would’ve been lost with the exposed engine fan blades! In 1945, radar was used to warn about air raids or to help Night fighters locate bombers, with the 229 able to fly at near Mach 1 speeds, it didn’t need stealth ... interceptions by allied fighter would’ve been all but impossible anyway!??

    Slight correction :- the Germans knew how to make good aircraft glues. The problem was that the only factory was destroyed by allied bombing (late 1944 if I remember correctly). From then on they were knowingly making do with inferior materials. Given the short life expectancy of aircraft by that time, it was a reasonable compromise.

    There is no way that planes such as the Ta-183, He-162, Hs 132 and Go-229 could have tipped the balance if they entered service sooner. By 1944, the Germans were fighting a 3 front war -- Western, Eastern, and Italian -- and by the time the Battle of the Bulge failed and Operation Bodenplatte (to wipe out many Allied aircraft and pilots) failed by January 1945, all of Germany's resources were exhausted. These aircraft and a successful Battle of the Bulge could have prolonged the war for a few more months, but Germany still would have been defeated.
    The only way the war could have continued into 1946 where these planes would be able to tip the balance would be if the Me-262, Arado 234 entered service in 1943 and the other aircraft like the Hs 132, He 162, Ta-183 and Go-229 had entered service shortly after D-Day at the latest. Or, if major battles on the 3 fronts were disastrous for the Allies: Battle of Kursk led to a stalemate with no side gaining or losing any territory, or Germany managed to hold onto most of its territory during the Battle of Bagration, D-Day failed or the Allies had to try again months later, Operation Husky failed or had to try again in 1944 or the Germans and Italians managed to push the Allies out of Italy from the Gustav Line.

      The Dutch NHI-3 helicopter used rotor-tip mounted ramjets and the French Djinn helicopter, which entered service in the 1950s (including in Germany), used rotor-tip mounted jets. Neither of these had a tail rotor because they didn't need one since there was no torque reaction to counteract. It's true that the B29 was not used in Europe, but it was always possible that it would be, therefore it was logical for Germany to design weapons such as the Trifluegel that would be used against high flying B29s.

      3. Cancellation Of Next Gen Weapon Projects - After the fall of France in 1940, Hitler stopped new weapon projects and kept old technology. This proved fatal later on when Germany was outnumbered with horrible tanks.
      4. Devoting Resources In Stupid Places - Hitler wanted wonder weapons which were extremely costly. The Tiger tanks are a perfect example. Unreliable, expensive and resource guzzlers. Germany couldn't afford expensive vehicles and paid for it dearly against large Allied numbers.
      5. Me-262 as a bomber - Literally fucking insane. He turned the first operational jet interceptor into a bomber and it was completely ineffective.
      6. No Women Laborers - Allies used women in the factories to free up men to fight. Hitler did not allow this.
      7. Battle Of Kursk - Hitler ordered a massive attack against the Russians at Kursk. The German armies last great offensive flung themselves against massed Russian defenders into and a crushing defeat for Germany.
      8. War With The USA - Yeah, lets just declare war on the biggest supplier on weapons in the world. They proceed to kick Hitlers ass.
      Complete idiot like I said.

      If the bombs are armed and they get hit right, the whole plane instantaneously goes up.
      Used to happen to Lancasters a lot with attacks from below/the belly, lack of a lower turret probably didn't help it.
      But you're right otherwise, it being 20 or 30mm just means a bigger hole in the 2mm aluminium skin.

    How would any of these "what if" jet planes done in 1946 against the twin-engined, after burner equipped, supersonic Lockheed L133 Star Jet?

    • @vernonbear
      @vernonbear 4 года назад +1

      Paul Lubliner More to the point, would they have gone up against Meteors that actually flew during the war, the L133 was ditched and some of the technology ended up in the P80. The L133 was not supersonic, it was designed to fly at speeds close to supersonic but it was still topped out at 625-630 mph. To be supersonic at altitude you’ve got to top 660mph+
      So to answer your question, they wouldn’t as the L133 didn’t fly, it didn’t go supersonic and they Luftwaffe would’ve been dealing with British jet fighters that were already flying during 45.
