- It seems like I can't get enough of doing Hathaway music, so here is the last one before the movie and soundtrack come out. This is a recreation/cover of the track from the first proper trailer for the movie in March of last year, which has since been confirmed to be the main theme of the movie as well as Xi's theme, as the title implies. I always thought it was neat how the organ and synth texture complimented Sawano's usual bombastic orchestration style, but recently they played the full version of the track during one of the promotional livestreams, and I was blown away by how good it was. Sawano himself stated that Shukou Murase had a sort of Hollywood-esque direction, specifically a "Futuristic Orchestra" mix of Interstellar, Star Wars and Blade Runner. With the organ, Sawano was screaming Interstellar in this theme. Love the inspiration he took.
I tried to cover the track as accurately as I could from how much I could hear underneath all the talking in the livestream. I didn't do the soundscape-heavy intro part, though. Couldn't quite do the synth texture justice so I decided to leave it out and start right at the synth riff instead. There's also the slower arrangement, mSgH, which played in January's trailer and was likely going to be the 2nd half for Ξ based on how Sawano double track structures usually go. But with the original already being a little over 4 minutes long, it probably would have turned out too long. I didn't cover it here for similar reasons, and we've also heard very little of mSgH for me to call it a "recreation". But other than that, I'm quite happy with how this turned out.
Also, the most massive of thanks to my buddy J4F for handling the mixing and mastering of this track and getting it to sound better than I possibly could have with how much of a behemoth it is production-wise.

Thank you all so much for the nice comments, especially in these last few days! I've been reading every single one of them, and honestly I expected this cover to not get as much attention after the full OST would come out (Which I already listened several times over, by the way. It's amazing). But seeing all of the recent feedback and the love you guys have for the movie has been really nice! This line is really as it actually prove that Tominos Beltorchikas Children is the accurate story were Amuro and Char actually die and not MIA. Same happened in Unicorn

@@s0meRand0m129 No, the real story is that Amura and Char die like in the novel, on the movie they both MIA. Sunrise BS at that time stopped Tomino to launch the novel as the main story cause they not liked the idea of Amuro being a father hence Chan Agi a character that only existed for a short time that the movie alone. Then on unicorn, you can hear Amuro, the real Char and Lalah meaning they really died and so on Hathaway flash when you hear amuro when Hathaway is piloting the Xi.

@@treehunned7615 Agreed. IMO the EF turned into a very corrupt oligarchy that should be overthrown, but that still does not justify Mafty's brute terrorism. Note that they had no qualms with collateral damage when blasting beams through hotels to assassinate 1 or 2 cabinet ministers--that really makes them no better than the EF Gustav pilots wantonly blasting missiles into packed urban areas.
@@redDL89 Before the terrorist attack, mafty members did a prayer for forgiveness for any collateral damage for what they believe was a necessary act. Watching the film I notice the Federation pull the same disregard for collateral damage shown in Zeta, Unicorn, and F91. After the battle, it is shown the blame is shifted on Mafty completely.

The composition was done by Sawano, so if you love the melodies you gotta blame him i guess^^ or you blame @itsthewhiteowl for it because of his ability to recreate a song that is playing in the background of a livestream (which is kind of a superpower imo lol). I don't create the music that keeps stuck in your head, i just make it sound a little bit prettier (you could say i'm a make up artist for music xD)

And when Gawman's suit got stabbed with beam saber, Hathaway hugged Gigi tightly, I'm crying... Everything messed up just cz of Gigi's appearence... Damn... So much sacrificed cz of Hathaway and Gigi's feelings toward each other...

Funnily enough, if they ever were to make an adaptation of Crossbone Gundam, I want Hiroyuki Sawano as far away from it as possible.
Hathaway's Flash had an awesome theme from games waiting to be remade for the movie. They ditched it. I don't want the same to happen to "Kincaid Nau"/"Crossbone Vanguard" theme and "Skullheart Arrives".

When I first listened to this track from the Hathway movie, gotta admit it had the music vibes of Gundam Unicorn. maybe because their stories occurred within years of each other in the Universal Century. Hiroyuki Sawano really did good with the music on these gundam stories.

I loved fight between Xi and Penelope. I rewatched Hathaway twice already, I think scene where he hears Amuro's voice is my favourite part of movie.
That said - I need to see whole Hathaway trilogy - right now I'm of a mind that IBO is actually best gundam storywise. It's probably also worth noting that lately gundam projects were more miss than hit tbh and storytelling bar for Gundam series as whole isn't really high overall.

for the theme itself, it feels as if we are nearing the end of the age of gods (being the Xi and the penelope) and the beginning of the age of man (F-00 project) that's why it's sounds more divine and haunting even, and hathaways flash signifies that beginning of the end.
I always considered Hathaway's Flash the end of the old Universal Century era

Umm the novel has been out a very long time no shit we all know the story. I knew about unicorn like 12 yrs before they animated it.
Yea its similar and a bit different since in beltorchikas children chan agi didnt exist so hathaway didnt kill her.

i swore this was official I was looking for the OST and this popped up first. If I didn't look at the notes and comments i would of been still of that impression it's well made and catches the feel of the composer.
To Hiroyuki Sawano-san, what I want to say is thank you for creating a great ost from msguc, nt to Hathaway it is really wonderful listen every piece of rhythm that you've made it just bringing me something feels like how to say.. hmm like "piloting a mobile suit", idk what to say so maybe people who fans uc timelines might get that feeling.
This is really amazing. A well done piece for me to listen to. I can't wait for the actual OST but I would also like to hear your take for the other tracks when its release. Great job!!!

@@itsthewhiteowl give yourself more credit mate! I mean, a lot more credit. If not better, at least it's on par with the original. Both have different feels to it. The original has a more… eerie tone to it? Yours has a more intense, like a more mech element, which I love.

劇場版閃光のハサウェイ三部作の後にはユニコーン２を予定してる訳だが、ハサウェイは原作どおりでいくのか。それとも結末を変えててユニコーン２にも登場させるのか。

This track XI (from the official OST) sounds like it is coming straight out from a Hans Zimmer scored movie like Interstellar, and you almost perfectly captured it.
I guess Sawano-san really took the comparison of him being Hans Zimmer of the East a bit too seriously lmao, but this track is STRAIGHT BANGER
Thanks so much! The Interstellar inspiration is actually intentional, and was sort of a pointer towards the sound Shukou Murase (the Hathaway's Flash director) wanted from Sawano.
