We moved there from poolstock wigan in either 1978 or 1979. I was about 5 years old. I attended St Thomas primary school. I then attended Cansfield high school. We moved from 58 Bolton road into 60 bolton road when it was one huge house. The big house that was known as 60 Bolton road no longer exists they built 4 houses there. Let's just say there is a lot more there now than there was when we moved away in 1987. As for the knives thing they need them sticking up their arse holes blade first.
Thank you for sharing that information. It is amazing how much has changed. I may be wrong here, but didn't that school get demolished, or am I thinking of a different one. It had a playground on the roof?
@exploringwithjb probably a different one. Both St Thomas & Cansfield are still there. St Thomas's school comes with St Thomas's church. Cansfield high school comes with Cansfield swimming pool located not far from it.
Now summer is coming back round I'll be visiting many places to do video. I'm releasing a new video today (7 of the most interesting places in the world) It's a different type of video I've put together so I hope you enjoy it.
I like visiting Aston in Makerfield it's a nice quiet town with some great places to visit' including the Liverpool & Leeds canal not too far away. I will be going back there soon to film a couple of very interesting historical spots that I've been told about so you'll be seeing more videos from Ashton again soon.
@deano1161 Yes, they are, haha. I lived in Newton for many years during my childhood. I loved it there, but there were definitely some plonkers around, lol. What a fun place haha

This is my home town. An Australian man landed in Ashton. He felt somehow out of place. So he flew back to Melbourne - Aussi oggy.

Welcome to Ashton-in-Makerfield
It would be much nicer if it had some people...
Ashton in Makerfield is a lovely little town. It was a pretty quiet day, probably because it was so hot 36c that afternoon, even my time was limited
Oh spooky a cemetery
Yes it does look a little spooky but I love places that has a interesting history even if it's slightly creepy 😳
My hometown mate, but its a shithole, go round at night its not so nice then with gangs round the corner
I personally didn't find it that bad when I spent time there, but I didn't hang around at night there, so I can't comment how bad it is at night.
My hometown too. Those gangs are easily spooked with a big BOO! They are just bored children.
