2:39 I’d respectfully disagree with the suggestion that people should expect things to happen.
This is a dangerous message to put out simply because if people have expectations - they naturally call upon disappointments with it. This is simply due to the law of duality that exists in this physical world. Yes, there are ways and states to break free from the shackles of the human limitations and the cycles of this physical world - expectations aren’t one of them.
Take for example, you expect your partner or someone you’re romantically interested in to act a certain way : perhaps cook dinner every night, text/call you 3 times a day, etc. It simply is impossible for them to act this way always. We never have control of anything outside of ourselves and especially another person. We simply have to observe or think back in our life of when we expected things to happen a certain way - honestly what was the outcome?
A lot of powerful, and some renowned spiritual masters (and I would too) instead advise people to accept and respond gracefully to whatever comes your way - good or bad. Accepting, things as they are does not create duality and instead gives you a lot more control of your life and inner states. You also naturally detach from the results since you no longer expect things to happen - rather you just live and make things happen.
