The fact that Brandon was the ONLY on getting grilled is so funny. Poor dude was just trying to be vegan step by step. The fact that every food he named was vegan is crazy.
Brandon is the person I’d most want to be friends with and learn about veganism from, if I could choose anyone in this group. His story and motivations were interesting and I kept getting frustrated when he was cut off or judged.
They way Erin behaved sucked and Brandon seems like a sweet guy who’s trying his best but he actually wasn’t vegan. Honey isn’t vegan and if he’s still eating it, he’s vegetarian. Which is fine! When I first tried to be vegan I also ate honey because I didn’t know it’s not vegan. Depends on how you act after people tell you that the things you do/eat aren’t actually vegan.
@@kj285 Tbf there is still debate within vegan communities about whether it's ethical for vegans to eat honey. Honey production is very important for the environment. People usually raise bees for the honey and considering the decline of wild bees due to pesticides and urbanization of the environment, raising bees is a very very good thing. Removing honey generally doesn't harm hives and hives can even become "honey bound," requiring the hive to move altogether as there's no longer space to lay eggs. It is a nuanced issue and Erin is quite unreasonable to insist *no* vegans eat honey.
as a vegan, erin INFURIATES me. most of us want so badly to be inclusive and accepting so others get just as excited or at the least more open minded than the norm about alternative options and the sustainability of the lifestyle, and people like her give us the worst rep. she’s actively doing damage that she’s attempting to stop by belittling people and making them feel unsafe/unsure within themselves to try anything new
Right I have a vegan friend from my first ever job and she would always let us try her food and her like impossible meat and answer our questions about veganism which made and makes me consider being vegan but Erin was just so aggressive for no reason and he said he just became a vegan lol
she's right though, veganism is an ethical belief to minimize animal suffering as much as possible, and it's not just a diet. this undermines the whole movement, especially when people just use it to be trendy and go on and off. but tbh she could've taken Brandon aside after the show and talked in private about things like 'hey if you still use/consume animal products you're not vegan but just eating a plant based diet, because veganism is a lifestyle choice' and give him tips on how he can change things like suggest good candy and explain why honey is not vegan. and maybe suggest some documentaries or something 100% agree with what she said, but 0% agree with the delivery and time and place too.
Not everyone is as educated on veganism but at least he's trying. She wasn't helpful at all, she was pratronizing and condescending. She's exactly the type of person to push people away from wanting to be vegan. Him wanting to do it for his overall health is his main reason which is still considered veganism seeing as there are different categories of veganism. For me the issue is that Erin sniffed out the most insecure person in it's veganism and that was Brandon, because he wasn't vegan for that long and then she just went to town on him. It's just sad to see people take a morally superior stance over people instead of encouraging them or being understanding. Sad.
She's the perfect example of why people have a bad opinion of vegans. When someone says they're vegan we think of someone exactly like her: militant, pushy, angry, lecturing, judgmental. You don't want to be around someone like that. You can't be yourself because they're constantly judging you. And it's even worse if you aren't vegan. So for someone like Brandon who is new to veganism, meeting someone like Erin has to be demoralizing and embarrassing. I can see why he was questioning himself. Erin was the worst person for him to meet. I wouldn't be surprised if he said "forget it. I'll just go back to eating meat. Apparently I'm messing this all up and have no idea what I'm doing."
It's sad cause veganism isn't bad in itself at all but the vegans that gatekeep and bully like Erin make it such a toxic community that actually prevents other people from considering veganism. Instead of encouraging people if they take a step towards becoming vegan, they're always like "that's not good enough, you can't have this" "you're not a REAL vegan", I've literally seen a lot of people stop being vegan or vegetarian cause of that doubt Brandon was feeling after being grilled by Erin. No. Would the people have brought it anyway? Yes. (but I understand when people say that it's not vegan!) When I bring stuff to parties, it's always vegan. My grandma doesn't understand veganism (I've explained it for +7 years now) and instead of discussing it with her too much and her being confused, I let it be. I try to focus on her trying her best and her caring so much that she still makes food for me and sometimes I'll drop the lil "oh, erm, that is not vegan technically" and she's like: o___o (out of confusion) I have a vegan friend that literally got wildly angry at me because I was happy to be able to drive a car. It has been a dream of mine for +10 years and it was an emotional process for me because I used to drive in the car with my dad a lot ... anyway, I was shoked to the core how angry he got at me for "not caring about the environment" and he said "you wouldn't be happy about driving a car if you knew how bad it was." ... it was ... so shocking and sad, honestly. It contributes nothing but hate. I now own a car just to experience it once in my life how it is, I don't even know if I'll drive it often or how long I'll keep it for. But, yeah, I am the devil and the sole reason for climate change. When I am on my death bed, I want to be able to say that most of my life has been vegan and that's it. Lol, sorry for my random rant in this comment section but I have a thing with those vegan Erins, they actually scare the heck out of me now ^^'
@UkjACk300, but we can ensure we don't explicitly pay for abuse. You conflate necessity and choice. You choose to eat animal products (when people buy them), but you can't decide to avoid child slavery with products like phones
@@UkjACk300I completely get what you're saying and some people would disagree, but I don't think there even is a right answer. I'm only vegetarian but people will say like "well I bought this meat and if you don't eat it then I will eat it anyways so you're not really contributing to the problem or supporting it, so you might as well." But I think if I were to eat it, I would still be contributing to it because then they might start buying more expecting me to eat some of it or something like that. I get the cake thing though it would probably go in the garbage anyway. I feel like vegetarianism is so much easier not only for the obvious reasons but also because it's much more defined than veganism. veganism has so many levels and variations to it. I think it's just about what it means to you personally, and the reason why you do it. Mad respect to those who do because the amount of research you have to do alone would be insane.
Erin’s attitude of self superiority towards Brandon is so comical when you realize she was wrong about nearly everything she attacked him for. Buckwheat isn’t a normal breakfast food: *wrong* Taco Bell doesn’t have vegan options: *wrong* Sour patch kids aren’t vegan: *wrong* Meanwhile Brandon (humble king that he was in this video) is still going strong as a vegan (and enjoying sour patch kids) all these years later according to his instagram.
She's definitely being unnecessarily aggressive, but she is not wrong on "nearly everything". I think at the time the video was made, the distinction between plant-based and vegan wasn't as common. Brandon is plant-based and shouldn't have been attacked for it, Erin is a vegan because the essence of veganism is based on a moral philosophy. She assumed everyone else in that room was vegan in the definition that she was and then it got confusing. inb4 everyone thinks i'm defending her, I am not.
13:44 her victimizing herself after everyone said she was wrong about Taco Bell drove me nuts. People are trying to tell you because you’re wrong. Doesn’t want to hear she’s wrong but I bet she’s the kind of person that tells people they need to “educate themselves”.
Fun fact for the crazy vegan- the honey market (most specifically local farms) actually HELPS bees because the process doesn't harm bees and it helps bee populations :)
dangerous half knowledge: The problem is dieing of wild bees. So domestic bees often dont help or even do harm. But im with you, honey eating isnt that bad.
YeSSSSS THIS! Eating honey actually causes the least harm for bees and the environment so it is in line with vegan morals. I always find it so funny when hard line vegans are so literal
Thats not neccesarily true. A lot of beekeeping does damage to the enviroment (w certain pesticides for instance) and als o sometimes uses cruel or exploitative practices like clipping the wings of the queen bee. There's plenty of non-harmful beekeeping (look for local small-beekeing-byuisnesses and traditional beekeeping) but it bothers me to consistently see this misinfo being spread that all beekeeping is ethical when in reality a lot of it is bad for both the bees and the enviroment.
@@maryschlidt6693 Same, I’ve been vegan for a few years and haven’t met a single raw vegan irl in that time. Exactly, the goal is to consume less meat to reduce animal cruelty not live a militant vegan lifestyle. If Americans ate meat one less day a week that'd be a huge shift not that Erin would care about that.
True, shes making it about herself.
@@Lucarioguild7I’d even go so far as to say you can have the ultimate goal of living a militant vegan life style, but trying to impose that on others in such a vicious and frankly annoying manner is counterintuitive.

@@kj285
Tbf there is still debate within vegan communities about whether it's ethical for vegans to eat honey.
It is a nuanced issue and Erin is quite unreasonable to insist *no* vegans eat honey.

she's right though, veganism is an ethical belief to minimize animal suffering as much as possible, and it's not just a diet. this undermines the whole movement, especially when people just use it to be trendy and go on and off.
but tbh she could've taken Brandon aside after the show and talked in private about things like 'hey if you still use/consume animal products you're not vegan but just eating a plant based diet, because veganism is a lifestyle choice' and give him tips on how he can change things like suggest good candy and explain why honey is not vegan. and maybe suggest some documentaries or something

No. Would the people have brought it anyway? Yes. (but I understand when people say that it's not vegan!)
When I bring stuff to parties, it's always vegan. My grandma doesn't understand veganism (I've explained it for +7 years now) and instead of discussing it with her too much and her being confused, I let it be. I try to focus on her trying her best and her caring so much that she still makes food for me and sometimes I'll drop the lil "oh, erm, that is not vegan technically" and she's like: o___o (out of confusion)
I have a vegan friend that literally got wildly angry at me because I was happy to be able to drive a car.
There is no such thing as a 100% life without cruelty agains living things (including children i.e. child slavery/work) under this capitalism anyway. The only thing we can do is try our best and not strive for perfection while hurting ourselves or others. I am always happy when my friends tell me that they eat less meat now and I'm like "you go gurlll" but that's it.
Lol, sorry for my random rant in this comment section but I have a thing with those vegan Erins, they actually scare the heck out of me now ^^'

@@UkjACk300I completely get what you're saying and some people would disagree, but I don't think there even is a right answer. But I think if I were to eat it, I would still be contributing to it because then they might start buying more expecting me to eat some of it or something like that. I get the cake thing though it would probably go in the garbage anyway. I feel like vegetarianism is so much easier not only for the obvious reasons but also because it's much more defined than veganism. veganism has so many levels and variations to it. @@maryschlidt6693 Same, I’ve been vegan for a few years and haven’t met a single raw vegan irl in that time. I think it’s because in order to eat fully raw, you need an amount of money and privilege that a lot of people will just never have. The cheapest and longest lasting vegan foods are things like dried beans and rice bought in bulk. Fresh produce is expensive and goes bad fast so you have to go shopping several days a week. Most people can’t afford that and don’t have enough free time to make salads and smoothies for every meal 🫠 and coming from that level of privilege can definitely make a person out of touch with reality, thus the bizarre way a lot of raw vegans act
The fact that Erin is a yoga teacher baffles me… she is the exact opposite of zen lol
Deadass😂😂😂
the rage that erin induces in me is simply astronomical
poor Brandon, he was already making a big impact by not eating meat & dairy, and someone like Erin puts people off even trying to be vegan or reducing their meat intake. It doesn't have to be all or nothing
Riiiiiightttt but that's not 150% vegan
@@agnosticmanquestionsall2409 so if a person who has been vegan for 10 years accidentally eats or drinks something that has regular milk instead of like soy milk do they just lose their vegan certificate forever?? like be fr, it's about the intention, also all the shit that Erin called him out on turned out to actually be vegan, so she was straight up wrong. Maybe the honey thing, but there's ethical honey producers. I had a friend who was 100% vegan but she would eat eggs every now and then bc our other friend had chickens and she knew they were ethically sourced. Ppl like Brandon are already doing way more for the environment than ppl like Erin who give vegans a bad rep and make it this super strict thing where if you fuck up once you're a terrible person.
Erin has got to be the last person on earth I would want to spend a single minute of my time with
Gorlock.
saddest thing is that sourpatch kidz are actually vegan😭😭 she just hated that dude's guts
Exactly
She said she didn’t eat candy too so why would she even need to know which ones are vegan 💀
they’re not actually, the way they process the sugar it’s filtered through bones or something. i don’t remember exactly but i watched this video when it first came out so i looked it up
@@soybeanokra that's an extremely old way of processing sugar and it's highly unlikely they still do it that way. also it's one of those things most vegans don't care about bc it's nearly impossible to avoid.
Telling you, she’s got to be the vegan teacher’s daughter or something!
my fav part is when the others are trying to explain to Erin how Taco Bell can be vegan, and she gets so defensive lmaoo
as a former vegan, erin is doing nothing for the “vegans are annoying stereotype” oops
how long were you vegan and why'd you stop?
literally, she’s making a hostile environment even for other vegans
who cares you're not vegan
@@joyfromthemountainname three vegan right now
@@kairabyrd2790 you can't lie it was kinda funny
As one of the girls in the video, I'm so honored you finally reacted to this 😭
Wait your the one with the non vegan makeup😂
shereen they did you so dirty in this 😭
“vEganS d0n’t wEar maKe-uP” THEY HAVE VEGAN MAKE UP FOR GOD’s SAKE. Bless you, Shereen. Keep being you.
you ate that i loved your style
was Erin truly that insufferable in real life?
kind of a weird question, what is your favorite documentary? which video of animals being slaughtered did you love the most? 😅😳
Please😭😭😭😭
Well favourite doesn't mean to love something, you can have a favourite vegan documentary that involves animal slaughtering and it be your favourite because it say, made you go vegan.
@@swaggerline8918no vegan i have ever known has a “favorite” animal cruelty documentary. they might have one that stood out…but no one loooves those documentaries. they exist to inform, not to be rewatched and enjoyed. that’s why i think it was dumb to expect exact titles rapid fire like she did
@@abbyz13 As I said in half of my comment, a favourite doesn't imply loving something. Land of Hope and Glory would be my favourite vegan documentary, because it depicts the industry-standard cruelty these animals go through, and the cognitive dissonance of us as a society in allowing these things happen to them. I don't 'love' the documentary. The last thing you mention answers a question nobody here raises though. Favourite doesn't imply enjoyment either.
@@abbyz13Just because something is meant to inform doesnt mean it cant be something youlove... If someone becomes vegan because they dislike animaI cruelty, it follows that they are very passionate about the subject and seeing how widespread meat-eating culture is and how much vegans are mocked, it makes sense that some vegans will have an attachment or love for a documentary that helps to vindicate them by exposing how crueI the meat industry is. YaII are nitpicking what she says but ironically what yaII are saying makes no sense. She enjoys those informative documentaries so she assumed that others would feel the same, it's not that deep
She gives me the same vibes as a person who quit smoking cigs for a few months and just starts levitating two inches off the ground everytime they talk to someone who still smokes cigs
i wonder what erin’s personality was like prior to eat, sleep, and breathing vegan
if i had to guess, probably super insecure and undefined. she acts like she found all her self-worth and identity in being vegan, which allows her to feel like she’s inherently better than others.
@@mea2429 I mean she's probably still incredibly insecure. People who are truly confident in who they are don't act like this.
I'm guessing exactly the same, just about something else
Well she did say she had a substance abuse issue so she probably didnt form any identity or self worth. Then she found veganism and used that to elevate her self worth.
She said she used to be an alcoholic so I think we have a good idea. And alcoholism kills your braincells, so it makes sense why she is the way she is even though she's vegan now, you can't reverse that😅
I’d rather get eaten by sharks repeatedly for eternity then spend a second with Erin
riiiight, but that wouldn't be vegan

When a group of people try to convince others to make a lifestyle change or to better themselves, and a person tries to make changes, and the group basically makes them feel like they are not good enough and tear them down, that is what will turn them away. I felt bad for Brandon.
EXACTLY. It's so upsetting. As a vegan, I do everything I can to squash the in-fighting, and try to approach people with positivity. Also the preachiness is annoying too. But it's the policing that can literally make someone step back from the thing they were initially passionate about.
she is so weird. why gatekeep a lifestyle you’d want others to pick up too?
As a vegan (over ten years now) I hate people who approach veganism like Erin. How are are we supposed to convince people to become vegan if they feel harassed 😭 never understood the aggression if you’re not being insulted first!
I've been toying with the idea of having specific vegan days in my week, like only eating vegan foods on Tuesdays and Thursdays to at least *contribute* to the good that vegans are trying to do, but I feel like I'd get reamed if I told people I was only vegan sometimes haha - I know that's only a handful of the vegan population but they are SO vocal and aggressive that it scares people away
Erin is the stereotypical personality I think most people get when thinking of someone who is vegan in the worst way
“I was vegan once. I only ate fries… somehow I gained weight”
Cody with the comment of the year
My favorite is when head vegan girl acts like everyone is attacking her as they kindly explain vegan options at TacoBell, meanwhile she's been attacking every person who dares to speak for 10 minutes straight.
It’s peak dish it but can’t take it
Erin is single-handedly out here making people NOT wanna be vegan.
i feel like brandon just wanted to have a normal day at work and jubilee just tossed him in here- poor guy did not sign up for erin’s “that’s not vegan”
Bro she did Brandon dirty imagine watching it in RT😂
@@jaylyn true i bet there’re hours of unedited footage of her interrogating him 😭
If Erin was actually the mole this would’ve been ICONIC. I would’ve screamed.
Nah she’s just trash
I know! Instead she looks like an ass but she could’ve been ITtt
I actually was 70% sure it was her, because I didn't want to think anyone could be that genuinely unlikable.
as a russian hearing erin say “who eats buckwheat” is so weird. in here it’s one of the most consumed grains and when COVID started people were fighting each other for in in the stores. and btw it tastes amazing if you know how to make it right so it’s not a surprise that many people eat it…..🤷🏼♀️
I was also like o.0 and I don’t even have it that much as an American, but I know a lot of people who are “gluten sensitive but not gluten allergic” who tolerate and use buckwheat for EVERYTHING.
She literally just acted out her assumption without regard to any facts or realities because she likes to feel superior.
yes!! im russian too and buckwheat is sooo popular …. justice to греча she didn’t deserve it 😔🙏 никогда не понимала почему она такая непопулярная на западе
@@wwxluvr2643 правда, греча лучшая….😭😭😭
as a vegan myself, i can promise that most of us strive to be as unlike erin as we possibly can in our day-to-day lives LOL. i myself went vegan when i was 16 for animal ethics reasons but i also think it’s important to remember that it can be scary for people to make the transition that initially seems so drastic when that’s just the way they were brought up. i don’t believe at all in judgement & guilt-tripping, but couldn’t recommend veganism to everyone enough, even if it takes the tiniest baby steps to get all the way there :)
“How are you vegan when you’re a grill master” went so hard
I'm so glad Cody is going to witness Erin as well. She was...intense.
Yea it's kinda funny now. I hope she changed lol
@@claff4573seems like the type to die from COVID this year
I feel so bad for Brandon. He didn’t deserve to be attacked like that holy shit. Erin literally is a classic
I’ve revisited this episode time and time again just to think to myself “This is exactly who I do not want to be” and it keeps me level. I can be a bit of a button pusher online out of fun but in reality just be kind and not a prick. Looking at you, Erin.
brandon was instantly so likable to me he just seems like such a relaxed and friendly guy i would love to talk to him about breakfast lol. erins attitude towards veganism seemed unnecessarily strict when it came to other people like do what u want but uhm eating honey actually helps out the bees and promotes the save the bees movement and then with the leather like... pleather is worse for the earth and theres really no reason to be anti-vintage or second hand leather bc it already exists and like... if you take a "use every part of the animal" approach its still supporting animal rights??? i dont understand the extremism bc its just not helpful. honestly i think erin was so insufferable because shes always hungry like girl please let yourself experience joy so that you can stop making everyone around you miserable
she was so fucking MAD
I don’t get Erin’s mindset, I’m a strict vegetarian and I don’t stray from that, but if my friends try to eat vegetarian and aren’t perfect I’m not gonna make them feel bad about it?? Like thank you for doing your best bc that’s more than most… I wonder what Erin is like when she’s not trying to win money in a morality contest.
I think it might be because veganism was a big part of her identity and she was basically gatekeeping veganism
@@gaurav889 it's how she feeds her insane superiority complex
Because being a vegan is her identity. It’s not a diet preference. It’s what she IS
that was actually something that made me stop being vegan. the vegans in my inner circle told me i wasn’t vegan enough. so the whole holier-than-thou mindset made me decide the lifestyle wasn’t for me.
@@zmunchkin just because some people were mean to you, you decided that abusing animals is the better way to live xD
That poor guy. It took me forever to go vegan because of women like her and I feel like people bring it up to me more than I bring it up to them.
And they bring it up mostly because of people like her. Everybody thinks being vegan is now your only personality trait because that's what she portraits.
Cody's Erin impression the entire time has me in tears!! I have never laughed this hard during a Jubilee video.
Lol he fooled them by being annoying like a vegan, this is pure gold
Erin wasn’t even interested in the actual game… she just wanted to go after Brandon 😂😆
Erin doesn’t care about being vegan, she cares about being better than everyone
Erin ruthlessly grilling everyone about how pure of a vegan they are. They softly correct her about taco bell, "I dont know why you guys are trying to tell me what-"
Erin got bullied off of social media, her book got thousands of bad reviews, and she changed her name. 😂
Best news I’ve heard all week
Glad to have read this comment
Wonderful news
does anyone have a story they can link🙏
Wtf is wrong with you people lol literally laughing over doxxing and harassing someone just cause they were a little bit annoying
Erin didn’t even make money and just made herself looks like a really fun person to be around
So good
Ever since I watched this video a year ago, I’ve wanted someone to watch it and experience the amount of anger and frustration I felt watching it because of Erin and her questions. Thank you, Cody.
Lmao at the entire group convincing themselves NOT to raise their hands at the end, despite their very visible uncertainty, all because the loudest/most obnoxious people in the group (led by Erin) bullied them into a bad decision. They all deserve it for not standing up to her. I wish the producers had just done a plot twist and given Brandon the prize, to make up for his bad treatment.
