  • Are you tired of dealing with strict TSA liquid rules while traveling carry-on only? Since I always travel only with handluggage, I was too. Recently, a viewer challenged me to travel with solid toiletries only - and I decided to take on the challenge. Intrigued to see if it was possible, I put it to the test during my recent trip to Bavaria. In this video, I'll share with you the solid toiletries I brought, how it went, and my final verdict. So, if you're ready to ditch the hassle of TSA fluid limits, join me on this journey and discover a more convenient way to travel.

I use same toothpaste tabs. I really like them. For face wash I use a good molecule bar and drunk elephant bar. Dermalogica daily microfoliant is good if you want a scrub. Lush and ethique both have good solid options for toiletries.
Decant liquids and cut bars to make them more travel friendly. It's surprising how little product one needs for a week or two trip.

    Fun video, Maggi!
I have white hair now, which means many shampoos and conditioners leave my hair yellow and waxy. For the past two years I’ve used the ‘no poo’ method: wash with water and baking sofa, condition with water and apple cider vinegar. I find I only need to wash my hair every 10-14 days. And my hair is soft and manageable. Takes a few weeks to adjust to, but so worth it!

Skincare one of the things I forego lol. I bring the pipette stick balm and the okay serum stick and that’s usually good enough for a few days. Keeps my face nicely moisturized. I also use the Vaseline stick balm (the green one) but it’s more for body use for me. As for makeup remover, I use the Elemis cleansing balm. It does a great job of removing my makeup! Garnier shampoo bar with coconut and aloe Vera makes my hair super smooth that I don’t even use hair conditioner.

This will work until you meet that special TSA lady at Munich airport who told me to either throw my solid lip balm or put it in the zip lock bag, because after all, I could melt it and then it would be fluid too. Hi Maggi. I always enjoy your videos. I haven’t had a lot of luck with crystal deodorant. I have been enjoying aluminum free sticks. When I travel with stick deodorant I melt down the full size stick in the microwave and decant it into smaller travel size deodorant containers. One container lasts me 2 weeks and the empty deodorant container you get from Amazon has less wasted space than the travel size you can buy from the store prefilled with deodorant. I have even seen people use a chapstick type of container to make the deodorant stick even smaller. Best wishes and I look forward to your future videos.

This is what I do :) I purchased oval lip containers from Amazon, as they are a bit larger in width then a single chapstick tube. It is closer to two across in width. I have hyperhydrosis, and I use the anti perspiration/deodorant combo. I do have a aluminum free one that I take as well, for days where I will be swimming, or if I shower in the pm instead of my normal morning. Taking both is still smaller then a standard size tube., and I use the ends of my deodorant to top it off. Less product waste, and gets filled for my travels! I can’t use brands like Native, the sodium bicarbonate is too rough on my skin.
I have used those facial cleansing sheets before, and found that they can be cut in half (or quarters for some people) and still give a great clean.

I never put things like mascara, liquid eye liner, liquid or gel make up or skincare (I usually have these in smaller cases), or tooth paste in my liquids. In fact, I don’t even put hand sanitizer in it. Never been an issue domestically or internationally. I would say, it’s the super liquid-y bottles bigger than say a small jar or hand sanitizer bottle and a lot of electronics components they are most worried about. But I also pack in a way that if I needed to check a bag of they gave me an issue, I could split my things- never had to, though.

If future, if possible, request you to make those CRAFT app videos , if any new addition to your using of CRAFT. I am missing those beautiful tutorials 😊

Oooh, thank you! :) I still use Craft everyday, but they didn‘t release any new features that excited me anymore… 🙈 However, what they do, they do great. I have been thinking of making a video about how I organize my personal knowledge management system and obviously this will include Craft, but it will take a while until I get around to making that video. :)

The wet make up removers in a pouch do not count as a liquid. You could have taken them.

I think it depends a lot on the staff.
Next time I travel I am just going to take a carry on bag. Better cut the toiletries up to fit the allowance.

It does depend on the TSA agent. Some are lenient and some are not. Solid form of toiletries should not count as liquid because they do not melt while you are on the airplane because of the high altitude.
