@@MrBronx61 I was 17 when Kinison died, and still can remember where I was when I heard the news. I'm just glad I got to see him perform January 1992. Sam Kinison, Pat Cooper, and Gilbert Gottfried were the best guests Howard had. Hard to believe they're all gone .
@MrBronx61 Indeed. When I was in my teens, I was living in MN. The first time discovering Howard, was on the old channel 9 Show. It featured Howard interviewing Mark Harris. This episode featured Mark at Martha's birthday party. I couldn't stop laughing at how flamboyantly g(a)y he was--claiming to be in love with Martha.
Always glad for more new Kinison. I thought this was going to be his bit about how the women in Richard's videos look like "women who used to serve me lunch in high school" and "Female Bus Drivers of the Month." Then he said that Richard always looks like he's crying because he's trying not to laugh in the faces of the pathetic people he interviews. Then he did an impression of Richard giggling while interviewing a obese woman, asking her for details on how she was so overweight she had to live in the garage, and ended by saying her husband looked like "I'm the reason they invented Happy Hour".
Seriously, I was born in 93’ so he was before my time, but I honestly can’t understand how people ever thought he and Dice were funny. But Kineson especially. The only thing I can figure out is just because at the time it must have been so shocking to hear someone scream at the top of their lungs cursing so much. I love Rogan but I can’t watch his stand up because he’s kind of the same way, he screams anytime he needs the crowd to laugh or a cheap punchline. But he’s like 1/10th as loud as Kineson and even though j don’t think he’s that funny, he still has his moments. Kineson was just all schtick and shocking for the time. He was just awful. I feel like people just laugh at certain things either because they paid to be there and they’re with friends and don’t wanna look like they’re bored or feel pressure to laugh. Kind of like when Artie screamed “Fiyah” and Howard and everyone else would laugh. It was never funny but that was his thing and to not make the show awkward or dead air and to keep Artie around, for his ego and the good of the show everyone just forced laughter.
@thebadaids It was a personality thing for sure, Sam was a preacher formerly so he had the yelling to an audience down to a fine art and integrated it with his comedy. He was also out of control wasted a lot of the time on and off the stage and combined with Howard they were both outrageous in their fields so I guess it appealed to people. Dice I can't speak for really, just seemed like a constant caricature of his roots and I never dug it at all.
Omgggggg PLEASE post anything RICHARD SIMMONS and Howard Stern!!! This just made my dayyyyyy❤❤
2 years later but there is currently a ton of Simmons and wiggy Wigward on yt
More Richard Simmons pleeease. And Ramones.
Anything Richard, Sam and Gilbert is fucking gold!!
RIP to Richard Simmons. (07-13-24)
All the classic Howard Stern guests are dying off. Richard, Gilbert, Norm, Bob Saget (although he wasn't exactly a regular), who am I missing?
Viva the memory of a comedy genius: Samuel Burl Kinison (1953-1992) who like so many other great people left the world to early.
Howard says to Sam, "I want you to get sober," and Sam replies, "Get on a long list." Tee-hee-hee!
YES MORE RICHARD SIMMONS
Hey brother,
I love this one I still miss Sam to this day thank you
This is gold!!!!
I have fond memories of Sam Kinison goofing on Richard Simmons. I forgot how drunk Sam was on this show. RIP Richard Simmons.
...drunk and coked-up

Mr. K
God, Sam's annoying
Please more Sam
Sam Kinison was so annoying, I genuinely don't get it. Richard saves this.
