  • Warbird pilot Greg Anders gives us an up-close look as he paces through the preflight walkaround inspection procedure for his P-51 Mustang Val-Halla. We bet you will find some tips and information you never knew about the mighty Mustang.
Anders and Val-Halla were in Nampa, Idaho, for the Warbird Roundup when we caught up with him on August 27, 2022. He is the director of the Heritage Flight Museum in western Washington. We are grateful he spent the time with us to make this video possible.

It was great to walk with him as he described his P-51. Will do this with other pilots and aircraft when possible in the future.

Joe, You are always welcome. Think we'll try for more of these walkarounds with the pilots.

Met Mr Anders at the open house at his museum a few year's back he was flying his A 1 skyraider that day and his brother was piloting this mustang and they put on a awesome show. 👍😎👊

    Excellent thank you.
Would love to see a startup check prior to an actual takeoff. I remember seeing one of those on a Bf-109G and from the moment the engine fired the pilot was really on the clock to get it done and into the air before the engine began to overheat. Probably routine after you've done it for a while.
    Thanks again.

I’m terrible. The pair of 1972 Chevrolet wagons kept distracting me because, in that condition, they might me less numerous than airworthy P-51s. That said, I love the livery and the story behind it.

You didn't check the engine oil and coolant!
