I think the reason for 4 cylinder is because of business competition, vehicle controlablity. If you compare torque and power with tata and others brands. Ashok Leyland decided to go with the flow. If this vehicle comes with 6 cylinder. You can drive the vehicle fast but the vehicle will not be in control of driver and based on the technology, power and torque figures. This vehicle will be Ferrari in the world of truck.

There's a reason most commercial vehicles all over the world have inline 6 diesels in them (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, etc.). Inline 6 diesels, irrespective of brands, are known for their robustness. You're putting a lot of pressure on a tiny 4 banger, no matter how much power it makes.
I don't get this trend of Indian diesel manufacturers downgrading to inline 4 cylinder diesels for their HD vehicles.

@@jayxj7785 I agree with your point. But nowadays companies are blind and thinks about only and only profits. Let it be any brand today there is no company who thinks to provide a product to make a man life simpler and easier. Though ashok Leyland engine will more power and torque and could have gave 6 cylinder with this vehicle. There ideology is to not make other brands unhappy. All trucks brands work like a network mutually.

Actually technology is improving there by with less engine cubic capacity more power and torque is available. This has reduced no of cylinders in the engine. In Ambassador and Fiat cars, 4 cylinder engines used to come but Maruti came with 3 cylinders in 1983. Now a days 1 L gasoline turbo engines produce more power and torque than 1.5 L naturally aspirated engines. Besides low cost , Another advantage

Is of low maintenance and overhaul cost. Overloading will gradually reduce on NP vehicles as this type of trucks are meant for medium to long distance haulage purpose. This is most advanced engine developed in house 8 yrs ago by AL called Neptune Engine. It’s variant of 6 cylinder is ready having output up to 380 HP suitable for tractor trailers , tippers, military applications etc. It costs more. So do not go on no of cylinders only and see your application.

But to make the vehicle reliable,durable one engine has to justify to the body on that. It not about degrading this technology but though ashok Leyland has developed the technology. They should also see what other compitators are developing. Most importantly the competition in this world. If you make even more efficient engine it is 100% sure that the vehicle get success. Business compitators will not let this to happen.

Secondly I'd want two drive axles on that chassis not just one drive axle . Plus also id specify air suspension for the rear axles plus disc brakes all round as standard.

10 X 2 with 250 HP and 900 NM for a GVW is very underwhelming. International standard is a minimum of 350 HP and 1800 NM torque. Also articulated trucks are more popular unlike India.

Please try increase the standard of parts used in building the trucks. No matter which ever video I see. The body work is almost similar. Especially on electrical parts like the switches, different design fan, radio etc. Covering up the bonnet is not a good idea to increase the sleeping area. Try to make a toilet in the cabin. Because nature's call can at any point of time. Driver will feel more relax and confident to drive the vehicle.
