Schools are not listening to parents or even incorporating parent ideas to help their biological or foster children /teens. I requested Phonics for our son many times and the IEP team told me no. They did sight words etc. My son today is a junior in highschool snd cannot read past Third Grade!! Schools are more focused in everything but reading, wriring, and Math with furure life adult independent skills. It is intentional!! What do we do?
hi @ThePhonicsPage, I am struggling to write spelling in English, I need to take IELTS soon, I am good at speaking, reading, writing and listening, Even though I have a good understanding of English, But misspelling English words cost me a lot. I build software, It is limiting my ability to read, write and comprehend my computer science literature, pretty much my life depends on it. I want to improve my English language ability to the full extent, What are the things I need to do in order to achieve this. my goals:- 1. writing professional English. ( mostly computer science, software business and marketing English content). 2. Reading complex subjects literature including physics, computer science, computer science literature. 3. Writing very few grammatical errors, almost non-engilsh spelling mistakes. I am willing to go to the full extent to improve myself. There is nothing more important than my career. note:- I am very bad at my own mother tongue, I am mildly dyslexic. I am just got good only in english over time now i am 25 years old, desperate to improve my English skills
I’m a adult 33 years old don’t really have a problem with reading but my spelling and writing is pathetic it’s very frustrating because I really want to get my Ged please what do you suggest? 🤷🏽♂️
Logic of English Foundations Lite is free online, good spelling lessons. You need to watch all the videos, some of the introductory ones look simple but they explain the foundation of the program, for example phonograms A - Z.
I struggle to read words and sound them out. Like the word nepotism, when I read it comes out as "Ne-pot-tism" when it should be "nep-pa-tism"...this happens all the time. I didn't learn to truly read until the age of 11-12. I still struggle as an adult with unclear speech and weak reading decoding. Will your lesson help me improve?
The Webster's Speller portion of the lessons should help with that, you need to do the first portions to get there though. The syllables lessons, follow up with all of the 2+ syllable words in Webster's Speller. ruclips.net/video/nc9CpQnQo18/видео.html donpotter.net/pdf/websterspellingbookmethod.pdf
If you don't have someone to help you with pronunciation, I also have watch and listen lessons, but they don't focus on Webster's Speller as much, but will help you be able to use the Speller and syllables lessons better. thephonicspage.org/Phonics%20Lsns/phonicslsnslinks.html
I am working on a spelling video next. In the meantime, I recommend the free spelling lessons from Logic of Essentials, the free Lite series. You need to watch even the first easy lessons to understand the method. Start with Essentials 1-7 Lite. elearning.logicofenglish.com/pages/courses
