highlights of 4 hour flight from Aspres sur Buech
Pretty cool flight for the end of the gliding season!

Incredibly beautiful scenery!
It won't be my last time here!
Thanks for another day of flying!
4 flights in four days, 13 hours total
Great flight Ronald! Mistral creates the best aerology in the French Alps. But in the national parks nearby there is an altitude restriction you have to be higher than 1000 meters above the terrain.
After Mistral, the air is crystal clear!
Pic de Bure is one of my favourite spots in the French Alps - so glad you caught some STRONG lift. Nicely done !
I did one flight from Pic de Bure heading east & failed to leave with enough height to comfortably cross the wide valley and connect with the next line of lift…. The kind of error you hope to make infrequently. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
The video does not capture how turbulent it was up there! Things flew around inside the cockpit...
@@ronaldglider Ah…. yes. I’ve hit sudden convergence lift and everything went airborne in the cockpit including all the dirt & pebbles from the cockpit floor 💨
nice flight!
Thank you! My first flight here this year was already better than the best of last year...
What a wonderful flight ,terrain and video editing , superb ! Yes we want more. I hope we can fly together one day there .This is Elias with Neutrino glider. :-)
Yes, I got across videos about your glider. Hope to meet you too!
@@ronaldglider Sure thing ! Regards.

I like this ideo, particlarly the interferometer and approach to Aspres sur Buech!
not sure what you mean by interferometer...
@@ronaldglider Interféromètre du plateau de Bure, the cross shaped pattern of telescopes at the top of the Pic, now called Northern Extended Millimeter Array.
@@WilhelmvonFahrvergnugen Great to know - I had a project with Astron working on SKA for 5 years....
I like the concept of the Archaeopteryxa glider you can take-off by runing like a delta wing , but it's to pricey .
What's the maximum G load it can take , at what speed ?
+4.0G to -2.0G at 85 km/h with 100kg load
@@ronaldglider Thanks . That's not much . I wonder why you use a microlight thats more expensive than a good used club class glider that's stronger ? Unless you want to take-off runing off a slope. If you're using it like a normal glider, towed to altitude by a tow plane I don't see the purpose .
@@tiestu7612 It is a long and complicated story. I ordered the Archy when it was half price from today, after not having flown for 20 years. I expected, as it is a hang-glider, I would not need to join a club and be able to launch from a hill. I skip much detail: After getting it (at double price compared to initial quote but with a partner), it became clear that driving up windy roads with the trailer is huge effort. Also, the partner always needs to be there to drive down again. Hence we stayed at the airfield, and I needed to join a gliding club. I fly ~100 hours in full-size gliders (DG800, DG1000, ArcusM) per year and only a few hours in the Archy. Still the Archy has its use: At this point in the season the gliders are too heavy and cannot stay up. With Archy it is perfect solution for current end-of-season (This was the short explanation...)
@@ronaldglider Thanks. Good flights .
@@tiestu7612 Thanks - I'll do my best
