These are the best fly fishing videos. Simon is incredibly talented in explaining fly fishing technique so that a complex topic is easy to comprehend.

Love this series of videos. I believe this is the first one where the guy in the background catches a fish.

Is there a reason people are adverse to tying a second fly off the eye of the first fly? I feel it offers more natural movement and drift than tying off the bend of the hook.

Good question. Many people do do that, though the majority of anglers in the US certainly tie to the back of the hook instead. It is a subjective, personal choice, and if it works for you, why change??

I needed this. Thank you SO much! I am having difficulty snagging too often when nymphing. I’ve lost at least 30 different flies from nymphing and getting snagged. Would love some input on judging depth! Thanks so much.

Thanks for your comment - glad you enjoyed the video. Judging depth comes with practice and becomes harder as you go from gin clear water, to water that has a slight color to it. If you start by standing at a depth just above your knees you'll be about 2 feet deep. Use the visual acuity of the bottom where you are standing as a base line for guesstimating the rest of the pool. Hope that helps a little...
