The 50’s & 60’s was the Golden Era of music. It can never be replicated James, but we should cherish it, and make sure kids get to hear it. You would enjoy “Frankie Lyman and the Teenagers”, a group of young black kids who used to sing on street corners (a doo wop band). Also “The Crystals” (an all girl group) and the “Shang-Ri-La’s” are great acts from the 50’/60’s. Thanks
If you love the 1950's you might want to listen to Buddy Holly. He had so many great songs. Some were upbeat and some slow love songs. Some of his songs are: Everyday, True Love Ways, It doesn't Matter Anymore, Rave On, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy, Early in the Morning (there are many more)
songs from the 50's were shorter, the lyrics simplier {prehaps}, but there was never any doubt what a song was about,if it was romantic, whimiscal, a bit more gritty, there was no guessing about what the heck they were trying to say.. and no matter the genre..easy listening, pop, country R&B soul. every preformer or group, no matter the genre portrayed class, more than any other decade.
Here's a couple you may want to take a listen to: Scott English - High On A Hill, THE CAPRIS - "THERE'S A MOON OUT TONIGHT" and Apple Cider - Doc Starkes & the Night Riders. Songs from my teen years.
I was a nerd in high school, myself. No dating or proms, even the graduation ceremony. But I had some good friends and experiences, especially with the band, and chess club. Wasn't all bad.
The Penguins were an American doo-wop group from the 50's-60's. "Earth Angel" is their biggest hit & was used in the "Back To The Future" movies.
My dad was a big doo-wap lover & played me oldies on his guitar all the time... always loved when he let me make the background sounds as he sang 😀
I love doo wop, it just conjures up visions of 50’s American diners , pony tails, Bobby socks and classic American cars.😊

In the Still of the Night by The Five Satins and it was recorded in a church basement in New Haven Connecticut. It was a huge hit.

Yes
A very popular song that I remember very well. So many good harmonies in Doo-Wop music. Thank you dear James.
I was around 10 years old when this came out. Listen to it on my pocket transistor radio.
The backup singing is of the charts!

I'll slow dance with you, James! Any time. Any place. 💗 (I hope you find that diner with the jukebox)
JB, you should check out "Hooked on a Feeling" by B.J. Thomas next, the original version from 1968.
This C Am F G7 chord run typifies DOZENS of songs in the 50's and early 60's.

Try five satins -still of the night and the platters-smoke gets in your eyes…. Both masterpieces.
You’re so cute...
