I have an 85 Ramcharger. Best thing I ever did was change that front diff to a 79 and got rid of the CAD. But mine has been 5 speed swapped and 440 put in.
I think I remember seeing this truck for sale a long time ago. I had a 318 and did the valve covers and broke the furthest back right bolt on the drivers side. Talk about a pain in the ass!
@18Dreaming let's goo Well, speaking as a cummins swap enthusiast, they are awesome. My current project is a 90 ramcharger with a p pump 12 valve and getrag 5 speed. You can make stupid amounts of horsepower and still have a very street and trail friendly vehicle. The 12 valves are also extremely simple to work on and widely available, though they are getting a bit uncommon these days. The aftermarket support is absolutely unparalleled, they get good fuel mileage compared to gasoline counterparts, and with minor maintenance are very durable. There are downsides, of course, the biggest being price of parts. If you want to build raw horsepower, just build your preferred flavor of big 3 big blocks. You will get more power cheaper that way. Exceedingly cold weather can of course be problematic for any diesel, but there are numerous ways to alleviate that. Honestly though, I just like them. My father has been an owner operator truck driver as long as I've been alive, most of those rigs had cummins in them and my upbringing revolved around them. I guess I'm biased, but there is a lot to like about them.
@18Dreaming let's goo Ah, that. Well, I think you hit the nail on the head, its status. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that old and a few years ago I was racing around in a jacked up truck spewing smoke like all the other kids. The only difference is mine was a 1986 f350 I, of course, put a cummins in and built myself as opposed to the kids that will forever be indebted to the bank because they took out 40k loans to be cool. Either way, those were the people who got into the work force ten years ago. I think the diesel craze is dying off due to so many of us getting married and selling off the toys. Its still there, but I see a lot of comparisons between it and the chopper fad back when Orange County Choppers was dying off. Give it a few more years and the only people with diesel trucks will be people who actually use them or genuinely enjoy them because they are cool.
I miss driving my 84 she's painted the same way but the NJ winters with the sodium chloride salt they put down took her frame!.... But now I got an 87 ramcharger that gets fluid film every year so it won't happen again!
I had an 83 White RamCharger over the winter one year. Guy went to jail for DUI and needed the money. Then when he got it out he bought it back from me. Is Methed out Girlfriend took the money from me and spent it on dope I'm sure... There was legal small claims court fun after that. Moral of the story is don't deal with trash people, but RamChargers rock.
@@radnplaid8083 Thanks for the comment and thanks for the sub ! Totally agree about getting out there and testing the rigs. Its more fun having them when you get out and see what they can do !
Miss my ramcharger..and LoL on 4runner..I got a 99 limited, and fuck me, I'd rather have my Dodge.. back...water pump Lock up, timing belt melted, water in transmission, suspension issues, had to weld frame in rear...and on and on... can't get fill plug out on rear diff...more like a half runner.... LoL...still got a rollbar, sport steering wheel, and saved my metal ram head for the Hood... and and push bar for front bumper...one day...... peace...
9:14 is the best part. Nice ramcharger
Love the Ram & the puppie 🤟
