My first vehicle was a 1974 Ramcharger full convertible that I bought brand new in 1974. Mine was a 318 automatic with 391 gearing. I really liked that truck a lot. In Pennsylvania it was rusting out in the first three years. Only ever had the hard top off twice. It was heavy and a pain in the ass. Really enjoyed seeing your nice Ramcharger. Brought back lots of memories.
That looks awsome. I have an early '74 Plymouth Trailduster as well. Needs a new engine and its the horse manure light green!! I love driving it with the full top off.
Very nice. Mine is a 79 that I swapped a 360 magnum, NV4500 and Dana 300 into. 1983 axles. Skyjacker 6” w/35” BFG KM3s on AR Bajas. Finally getting around to a new wiring harness.
Extremely rare indeed so beautiful wow I love the green for any 70’s classic trucks …. I’ve got a extremely rare Ford SR Country /Bronco made in Brazil on the 67-72 Bumpside F100 body short wheel base , I love your roll bar and no door frame it’s a killa . All the best from South Australia
That's a sweet truck I use to have a 74 Ramcharger it had the 318 with 4 speed manual trans and the NP203 transfer case and I took the transfer case output in the HD part time NP205 case in it they have gears instead of chain like the 203 has and then took the 318 out and put in a 440 big block for more torque and HP it was a awesome truck but ended up selling it and always regretted getting rid of it but got myself a 1979 W200 power wagon that has the same set up as the ramcharger did except both front and back axles are Dana 60 it was dana 60 in he back and dana 44 in the front and front and back have lockers
the last date of the half door was 6/ 10 / 74 you could also ordered at that time with no top at all it would show up at the dealer with absolutely no top and the dealer would put a soft top on if you wanted one Now that is Dodge tough I keep the top off of mine permanent pretty much
This video is old, currently the axles have been gutted with new axles shafts and knuckles with lock out hubs. Running different Wheels with 33 inch tires.
Great content! I'm restoring a 74 full pop top too. Would you be able to give me a break down of the exact conversion from full time to lock out hubs? Is there a kit or something? Thanks in advance!also what size is the lift?
I’d also love to know how you went about converting the knuckles. Did you use old Scout knuckles or something else? I’m getting my old RC from high school (25 years ago) back in my possession so it’s time to tear into it. The hubs were high on my list
@@gabrieldean9559 I’m also curious. I’ve got a ‘75 that’s in need of some attention. Back in college, I put a part time kit in the transfer case that Milemarker made. Not sure if they still do but it was enough that I could run lockers in it afterwards
Do it Man! I’ve owned 7 half door ‘74 Ramcharger TrailDuster and just bought my first ‘75 so I’m going to have my spare cut doors for 8 months of convertible driving and factory’75 doors when my custom cab top is on- looks waaaaaaaay cooler without fugly door frames with top off.
@@markray4416 I wish I had some spare doors for summer. My prob is my 78 ramcharger is a very nice survivor truck and it feels sacrilegious saw off something hahaha. Well see. At the end of the day it's my truck and I don't plan on ever selling it
You should find a NP205 for that thing it's a HD case and you can have 2wd or 4wd hi lo way better than the 203 and it saves ful not running 4wd all the time but you would have to cut holes in the floor for the extra sticks but they run on gears not the chain like the 203 does if your going wheeling out in Utah the 205 is what you want. the 203 will work till the chain stretches and starts skipping or breaking stuff it's hard to break a 205
I have a 85 Prospector power ram. Runs like a beast . But I also want to find a good condition ramcharger. Rather have a 70s model. But I'll be ok with a 80s one . My power ram needs a partner 😙👌
I have had three dodge ramcharger and now have a trailduster. I haven't ever had a problem with mine. You really should maintain them change the fluid etc.
No rubber duckies or other figurines in formation on top of the dash so you know its not a Jeep. What's up with that anyway? I'm old and seriously have no clue. I would not mind a CJ5 I guess.
That is a badass truck. My first vehicle was a 1984 Dodge Ram.

My father has this exact truck, nobody believes it came with a totally removable top, all time 4 wheel drive and his has the big 440. Same green.
We deserve THIS truck.
Please re make them

A true beauty you got there!
I had one. 318 with a nice Holley 2bbl carb. No lift kit, Desert Dog bias ply tires. Great fun vehicle.
Had a1980 Trail Duster SE Had the same grill and I could pop the top. Nice truck. Sure do miss mine.
That green is stunning. Great Ramcharger

Wish mine was that nice. Put every little bit I can spare into it.
Pretty much my dream rig, especially if it has a manual transmission.
It’s a beauty!
I did it. Had a '79 Ramcharger with the 360 / 2-barrel. Those older ones likely come with big-blocks.
sweet! i was 4 in '74
Fantastisch i bought a Ramcharger 1976 in Switzerland

and the first ‘74s only came with a single driver bucket seat standard! For the frugal lone wolf type Dodge Man!
Miss my 79 ramcharger.

So they only did the no door frame in 1974?
Nice
You can see where the original mirror mount holes still in the door.
So when should I be taking delivery?...😁
My buddy's dad had this same ram and would let us take it up through mountains and go mushroom hunting for morel mushrooms
Just to let you know, this RC is on a website for ramchargers listed at$4400, advertised in Ca but says its in Fl but will deliver.
@Mountain Joe Google ram charger for sale nation wide. It's about the 6th site down.

you crack me up
NO WAY 318!? Hell yes! BIG OL BAD D O D G E!
Ever thought about selling the 6x6 dodge? How would someone get their hands on a prototype one from dodge themselves?
Don't sell it
Sweet
And is the plymouth trailduster the same way?
Yeah
Looks like a 1980 grill you have on there.
To bad you dont see Ramchargers Like Broncos or K Blazers
Did you have to change the radiator core support to fit the 79 grill?
no direct swap
These. Are. Cool. Tough and pretty. Chuck Norris. Probley vote yes
Love it! Is that a custom front bumper?
No that is an old 1970's era winch bumper in great shape.
