I feel like I'm surprised to hear that the Sedins signed off on him. Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that back then.

Everybody in Philly should be kissing Torts butt. Whether they make the playoffs or not, they still had a great year.

We've definitely seen that he wants to know his players are out there trying. The moment that Frost challenged him he wasn't in and out of the lineup anymore.

I trust torts, briere and jonesy. Its going to take alot longer than 1 year to change the fabric of this team. People need to strap in get comfortable and shut up.

He rode Marian Gaborik mercilessly when he was with the Rangers because he didn't block shots. Trying to pound a square peg into a round hole.

From everything I've heard over the years, John Tortorella is a hard coach who sometimes crosses lines (I think calling players out in front of the media is not good). But I think he fundamentally cares about his players and wants the best from them. With the possible exception of Vancouver, every team he's been to has been better than when he came in.
I don't think his style of leadership is effective in all circumstances all the time. But he's been a very good coach, and I think it would unfair to call him a tyrant.

I hate the flyers so I absolutely want Torturella there as long as possible. His legacy is well established. He gets mediocre teams overperform for a while until the players realize that it is all about him. In the meantime he destroys all the talented players in the org - and ultimately the team is a tire fire by the time it ends. So I have been really disappointed that this team had quit on him already - and they will have to dump him this summer . I have been hoping he has more time to take a wrecking ball to any and all the talented prospects the flyers have - fingers crossed.

Well, when you’re making that kind of money, anyone should expect a player to be all in. You see examples all the time where effort is lacking, and it should be called out. Thick skin, y’a of course you need it.

Unfortunately Torts hasn’t changed with the times. This may well be his last team he coaches in the NHL. He is too much of the same stuff and players stop listening. There are some things I like about Torts but it is getting thin.

Torts is wildly out of date: imagine thinking that yelling at players, charging around at refs and other coaches is part of coaching. Imagine moving players out because the coach can't yell at them when he wants. Lol.
