As you might see in this video, all of the movements end in seconds with 3 strokes of breath: Inhale in irimi (enter) - Hold in tenkan (circle) - exhale in nage (throwing). The key to practice these techniques is the nagare (flow) of movement of inside KI with the outside movement of the body. You can touch the opponent at the point you have defused the attack and keep the attacker on moving with your throw. For further information, ask your sensei about "Kokyu Nage". Happy practice!

+DrInsane44 : I am very happy to your interest to these kokyu nage techniques. Aikido in words is very hard to say but I can answer you to what I know. This lineage is Tenshinkai (Named by O'sensei). Yoshikan is Aikido but Shotokan is Karatedo. For what I meant above, your body is virtually measured by many spheres from your tanden. If you know your spheres and the point that your opponents contact to those spheres. You can touch to those contact points (tangentials) at the momentum with a shorter radius than the opponent's radius to defuse the attack and drive the attack away from your body. To meet that point, you might use all of your Aikido movement: Irimi with ukuri ashi, tenkan, or sankaku ashi. Your bests.

Shotokan (or Shodokan) is also an aikido lineage. It was founded by Tomiki, who was also a black belt in judo.
