It was as if the dino was completely blind and didn't just watch them walk round a car.. As if they sneaked away? Then of at the end of the scene, they play the theme song as if they narrowly escaped with their life. Not once did I feel like any of the main characters might not make it out alive or questioned how they would make it out. And dont get me started on the clone girl.. I'm glad my gut reaction to the trailers and such wasn't wrong. I love Jurassic Park. It's my all-time favorite movie. Even now at 34 that movie is still very special to me. I still feel that sense of wonder and magic. It holds up so well. I also love The Lost World and JP3. I know people like to rag on those 2, especially JP3, but they're still special. JP3 still has that sense of wonder to it. It still feels special.
    I saw Jurassic World in theaters when it released and I've never been more disappointed by a film. It has none of what made the original 3 movies special. Bad CGI, bad characters, bad timing with music cues (like when the monorail goes through the gates), and it just felt like a retreat of the original Jurassic Park with none of what makes Jurassic Park special. Also serving to prove that no one learned the lesson Jurassic Park was teaching about not being able to control nature. About not fucking around and finding out when it comes to extinct ancient creatures. The Lost World served to further emphasize that those who think they can handle the dinosaurs better, that they can do it better and right, all just fail in the end. Jurassic World didn't learn that lesson. They didn't get the point that it doesn't ever work no matter what's tried.
    I decided not to see Fallen Kingdom at all since what little I saw just gave me the feeling it was a bad retread of The Lost World (taking dinosaurs off the island, shit hitting the fan as a result, etc). Dominion looks to be some weird mix of them all and what I've seen of the trailers leaves a bad taste in my mouth for sure.
    "So preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" applies to those who made these the Jurassic World movies. Things were tied off just fine with the original trilogy. All the JW movies do is highlight just how much better the original JP movies are.

    The problem is not Jurassic World, it's the expectations for movies and the standards we have set for them. Jurassic Park had subtext in it's design and feature. The double meaning in the conversations, the ethical standards, and subtext. Those are missing in Jurassic World. We cannot fawn at the principles of the scene, I think it was mentioned in Malcolms lecture in the movie, but it didn't give it depth, because there was no counter in the argument in the conversation compared to the lunch scene in Jurassic Park. I remember the importance of Hammond's icecream scene and flea circus had so much deliverance and subtext behind it. The idea of illusion and the metaphorical value of spare no expense. It cut deep, but its been devalued to nothing more than a catch phase that it dilluted its true meaning.

    • @TemLightKiBlade
      @TemLightKiBlade 2 года назад +4

      You missed the best subtle moment in all of Jurassic park. On the helicopter at the start, Grant had a messed up seat belt. He had two ports, often referred to as the female ends. He had two females but found a way to make a seat belt by tying them together. Beautiful foreshadowing for the all female dinosaurs finding a way to reproduce.

    • @PillowEgg
      @PillowEgg 2 года назад

      @@TemLightKiBlade The lunch scene is one of my favoruites, because of the use of projectors, it was a device in the background to show enlightenment, and when shot, Malcolms idea had more illumination than the others. Other metaphors was Hammond and Malcolm being competing figures, like God and devil.

    If I have to watch yet another motorcycle barely escape in the nick of time by climbing onto a cargo ramp in a plane in the last second, I'm going to lose all faith in anyone ever writing new ideas
    Never mind the amount of times we've seen some people knock out some guards and dress up in biohazard suits to access the secret lab undercover
    The first half of this film is just utter ridiculousness and it jumps around so much that it's just convoluted.
    I think the movie is a lot better in the second half when they're all United and are just trying to escape, even though I know it's all played for nostalgia I can't help but smile and laugh at a lot of the interaction between the original cast
    Honestly one of my biggest disappointments is just how underused this giant cast of dinosaurs is
    They add in dozens of different species to put them on film for the first time, but they have like 2 to 5 minutes of screen time tops before they're never seen again
    Also the concept of laser-guided dinosaurs is just as dumb in this one as it was in the last one

    I have a different option;
    I saw it last night and I thought it was pretty good.
    I saw the original Jurassic park in theaters back when I was 13, it was the first "grown up" movie I saw in the theaters with my dad. Because of that it's one of my all time favorites. I've seen every other JP franchise movie in theaters since, not all of them were top tier, but I did enjoy them all.
    Admittedly I have a lot of nostalgia for them.
    I like the new characters, and thought they used the original cast very well. If dinosaurs were really loose worldwide I can imagine that it would be a lot like this.
    Also, I don't think they really made a big deal about Dodson or the can. They were mostly callbacks to the original movie for people who notice, but my wife didn't really pick up on many of the callbacks since she's not as big of a fan.
    It's ok to not like it, but I enjoyed the references and callbacks and fan service, since I am a fan.

It was very clear the person in charge did dark crystal the dinosaurs had the same aesthetic made them not look remotely natural. The dimetrodon in the amber caves....genuinely looked like it was 1950's stuff colourized. Really really disappointing film.

    I think the original Jurassic World was amazing (great story, characters, visuals), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was not quite as good but still great and had a good storyline. Dominion had some cool ideas and of course great visuals but it was too much action. I wish it went a little slower and explained some things before just jumping into it, definitely the worst of the trilogy.

    I thoroughly enjoyed the first two Jurassic worlds, the plots made sense for both of them, and I did enjoy this movie too, I did enjoy the meshing together of many scenes, but, (and this could change over time but for now this is my honest perception) I felt some things could have been done differently.
    I do feel some parts were rushed while some parts weren't rushed. it seems like there was a desperate desire to keep it just under two and a half hours, where it really should have been the 3 hours that most of us hoped it would be. I'm no movie plot expert by any stretch of the imagination but this is my take on it:
    Certainly if they actually went with the plot that the first two Jurassic Worlds led us to believe would be the plot (the weaponizing of dinosaurs for war), then not only would we have gotten the whole 3 hours, but it would have opened pathways to include more in the movie, especially the spinosaurus that we all really should have seen.
    I'm really not sure why the creators felt like they could not have two antagonists, Justice League Dark Apokolips War did this and nailed it, it was insane when Trigon came out and we then had to figure out what was going to happen now that two independent supervillains were in the mix.
    The locusts could have played some part of the mix, but The Giga and Spino would have been Biosyn's "Big Guns" They could have brought in one of the other rexes from site B, they could have teamed up against the Spino and Giga, or each of those rexes could fight one of the antagonists each in different areas, or the Spino could have been brought in last minute as a last resort after the Giga would fall to the rex, and then the other rex would come in and help, something, there were ways to make it happen.
    The fact that we got that cheap Spinoraptor appearance in the underground cave was not only proof that they could have fit it in somehow, but, further, it was almost like a big tease to the fans, a "haha you're not getting what you want." Call me overly bitter for saying that, but man would it be so bad to have left us with the impression that in some cases the spinosaurus could win and in some other cases the T-Rex could win, even paleontologists will say things like that when they predict which apex carnivores would win over the other.
    So it can be said that this movie was put together well in its own way in its own direction that was decided upon to move with, but overall I thought Jurassic world 1 and 2 were better, especially the endings. In Dominion, the character stuff was done fairly well, the dino stuff was done pretty well too, it was just the plot and the missing additions... just wanted to get my input out there, I'm interested to hear any similar or different opinions.

    I mean. Sure jwd might be a bit choppy and plain at some points but it is what it is. I also don't understand why people keep criticising it for 'not having enough dinosaurs'. It literally introduces Giganotosaurus, Therizinosaurus, Dimetrodon, Quetzalcoatlus, Lystrosaurus, Microcerarus, Moros Intrepidus, Iguanodon, Dreadnoughts and Oviraptor when it comes out in the extended version. Additionally it brings back loads of old dinosaurs. I think the locust sub-plot is creative and links back to how greedy humans can be. Just because the story's a bit choppy and there isn't dinosaurs 24/7 doesn't mean it's that bad.
    Yes, I have a lot to say on the subject.

    I'm completely lost as to why so many people seem to hate the movie. Granted, I'm not the biggest JP fan (the originals kinda traumatized me as a child actually ha) so maybe my expectations were just lower. But saying that the characters aren't characters?? That there is no plot?? Sounds more like you personally didn't like the plot and so are saying it didn't exist. The one story gripe I had was that they had too many side plots going on at the beginning, but everything came together in the end, and it all made sense. They maybe could've cut part of the section where Owen and Claire meet the pilot, but skipping that would bring up the question of how the hell they knew where to go and how to find a ride. And how are the characters not characters? They aren't one-note (at least, most of them aren't). So what if the villain is predictable and the heroes have a bit of plot armor? The heroes are also experts at surviving around dinosaurs, so it actually makes sense for them to be able to escape sticky situations. And the acting was fantastic. Even the young girl did a pretty good job, and that's very unusual for me to say. I'm glad I didn't read reviews before going or I might've skipped out on what was genuinely a very good movie to me.

    Saw the movie last night. Your review was spot on. No plot. No meaningful dialogue. No soul. Pointless dinosaur immersion. So sad if this is the end. Glad I still have Jurassic Park on Blu-ray. Must watch tonight to restore my love of dinos again.

    Was it Red Letter Media that said that the movies that the original films these decades-later reboots, sequels, etc. are based on had props that supported the plot. Now the plot serves the recognizable props from the originals.

    Absolutely terrible. How do you screw up this formula that badly.

    As a BIG Jurassic Park fan I couldn't even finish Dominion, it was that bad. I felt like stopping the movie just 15 minutes in. It just didn't catch my interest at all and it never got better. The original Jurassic Park was a master piece. The lost world was a good movie that kept some of the magic and had it's moments. JP3 was a good watch, but failed to reach it's potential. Jurassic world was a good watch as it kept a lot of what worked in the original JP. Fallen Kingdom was awful and Dominion was even worse than FK. Wow. Such a shame to have your franchise ruined by a bad director. Why couldn't they get Spielberg to do it?

    Personally I think jwd was really good
    The thing is, they went for a different approach, more of an action film so they focused less on other things while atleast keeping them here
    But change isn't bad
    The new action format for jwd isn't as good as the better story telling jp format, but its not bad either, its still good

      It is bad even as an action film if you just want a more action oriented Jurassic Park film the lost world and JP3 are good for that because the story is simple with tight writing and good acting while still being paced well for their respective run times.
      Dominion fails to even be a competent action film its just random set pieces loosely connected to each with the bare minimum of attempt at a plot and practically no character development for anyone including the new characters, it is a B-movie with A-list actors and a bloated hollywood FX budget.

    Been looking forward to this movie, loved that it has some new dinos, but kinda disappointed by the plot that makes it doesnt feel like a jurassic park movie, and the plot armor of the main characters is overwhelming the dinos just wait and watch. There are some cringe moment like when maddie said "eyes on me" God damn it feels forced and weird 😂
