I'm not sure strings were the best choice for the "dudududu", they rise in volume too slowly to produce the same impact; feels very faded and mushy compared to the inspiration. My completely layman first guess for the best choice would've been a combination of various wind instruments (transverse flutes would probably be included), to achieve the expected sharpness and produce the LFO effect component of the timbre, either via beat interference with very precisely slightly out-of-tune chorusing, or with lower frequency wind instruments (or maybe even the musicians own mouth/breathing skills).
By itself it's a great piece; but standing against the original the contrast makes it feel like it didn't achieve it's full potential.
